So i don't know if you're still active but I got curiosity as im working on a 1980s era game with fire fighting. The tanks are 2200/etc psi yet i see the gauge going up to 3000psi. What's the reason for that? Also the regulator is on the belt and its a hose from regulator to mask right? Going with these style as its easiest to get pictures.
Im used to scott packs at my department as well as modern one so if you're still active and can drop myself some knowledge that would be great thank you.

This was an awesome video! I too have an scba for the sake of it and i feel the biggest problem is getting them filled. People have to travel out of their way to get their tanks filled with air that surrounds us & i find that rather anoying. I'm in the middle designing an adapter to fit on your scba and you can fill it with a pcp air gun pump. It really got me thinking when i saw popular youtubers like irish airgunner filling their pcp air guns with scba's but they had to go all the way to a fire department or a scuba shop. I focused more on the device that fills the pcp air gun with the scba tank. So i took the most of the high pressure parts used in the adapter and only had to change a couple of things. My adapters are not for sale but i would like for scba people to start making these adapters and filling their tanks from home .

thank for the comment. there are 2 reasons we take the tanks to a fire department or scuba shop. first usually fire departments will do it for free and filling these tanks yourself is a impossible task these tanks can hold 2216 psi. the only compressors that are capable of this are high pressure cork srew compressors. these peices of equipment usually cost around no less than 2,000 dollars. definitely not some thing a bike pump will do or a Normal 125 compressor. second reason I get them filled elsewhere is safety. at the fire department the tanks are inserted into giant steel pipes then filled. in the event of a explosin all force is directed up and not around. also do your research don't just go buy any scba. know how hydro dates work, can't stress that enough.

I have had my scba filled at the fire station and yes you are less likely to die while doing it but many people fill their tanks at home without the protected steel doors. I do belive that your tank should be hydro tested before filling your tank. And im not using just any bike pump im using a special hand pump that can easily achive 4500 psig. Being designed to fill paintball tanks and other high pressure cylinders i do belive the pump is sutiable for filling though i do belive it will take longer to fill cause of the mass of the tank. Companys try to get you to bring your paintball tanks down to shops to have them filled so they can take your hard earned dollars but yet you can still use a pump to fill a 3500 psi tank at home. Though fire departments are free its an inconvenience for some.

I really think this is a good idea and ive put alot of time and effort into finding ways to fill these at home and ive finally found a way. The only flaw the pump has over the compressor is its slower. People are told in the air gun community to have your air guns filled with scuba or scba because its quicker and easier and thats the problem. These companys want you to spend $2500 on a compressor when you dont need to. My carins pioner scba is 2216 psi and it can easily fill it.

Like i said the pump can go to 4500 AND IT IS NOT A BIKE PUMP. This is a serious pump used to fill high pressure cylinders and it CAN fill a standard 2216 cylinder. Its really a good idea also for shtf or when there is no electricity.

Not alot of people have taken the time to think of this idea and i believe this could be a good be a good idea. I really hope this idea was helpfull. If you have any questions please just let me know!

though you may b wondering what this adapter goes to and fills the scba. You can buy an air venturi pcp hand pump off of pyramid air for $199 and it can fill to 4500 psig. This is inexpensive and cost efficent. I dont belive anyone has ever thought of this idea to fill scba's which is why i would love to introduce this idea i had. Most people fill their scba tanks at home with baron or shoe box compressors but they cost upwards of $2500. And most importantly i should include all parts needed for the adapter cga347 scba fill adapter, 3 way hydraulic fitting 1/4, bleed valve 1,4, 1/4-1/8 hydraulic reducer, and 1/8 hpa paintball fill valve (1/8 quick disconnect)

Do you have a Smoke Hood/Mask for about ten minutes of protection from smoke when not home ? Your other videos have useful information. Thank you for the video ! tjl

hey thanks for the comment. yes all my tanks are up to date on hydro test as well as visual inspections. as for filling the tanks I take them to a place here in San Antonio called duggan diving. that specific tanks is a 30 minute 2216 psi aluminum, 25 lbs. I have recently acquired a 4500 psi msa apperatus and 2 1 hour 4500 carbon composite tanks, 12 lbs. will definitely do another video regarding them. and can imagine people filling them with engine exhaust, not good. unfortunately no smoke hood yet but I wouldn't mind a pony tank.

The ultralite system is actually more for industrial use like in oil refinery or mining rather than Fire fighting , but for $100 you can't beat that.

Scuba and protein tanks need to be tested every FIVE (5) years. Do you have a date or date code on your tank ? Also be careful on filling tanks. Some scuba divers have died from using gas engines to fill the tanks and exhaust gas were pumped into the tank ! CO2 and CO kills ! tjl
