Haven’t noticed a lumber shortage in our area, but there’s definitely a shortage of common sense in certain parts of the country. Blessings to you and your family. Jason from Indiana.
You got that right hahahha
Some folk out there need attitude adjustments.
Jason Bossaer Amen to that.
The best thing about supply problems is businesses cranking up to meet the demand.
The whole world needs to get back to work
I agree
Another great episode Morgan’s! Can we get an update on Mike’s early morning walks, and the intros and outros? Miss David and RC and the Wolfman Wayne Schnare!!!
👍😀
Good to see Hunter, say hello for us!
Mike, I had a hard tarneau cover on my previous 150 but on my current 150 I put on a Back Flip cover and love it. Much more convenient for me than a hard cover.
Great video Morgan’s, I am in the green industry doing lawn care and landscaping the year started out rough when we were shut down but then we were deemed essential and now we are doing awesome!
Good morning Scott from CT. Lumber shortage here too even the composite decking waiting couple of weeks for delivery. Great camera angles on the saw mill really got a great look at debarked. Great videos terrific family keep up the good work
Lumber shortages, food prices going through the roof and lots of business owners struggling. Then I read that the 7 dwarfs are only going to be allowed to meet in a group of 6. One of them is not going to be Happy .
lol
Don u Rock good one
Constructing an outdoor porch and yes major shortage of PT lumber in Salisbury,Md and surrounding Delmarva towns. I have purchased all the material after going to 5 different lumber yards/ home centers. Even bought material at a HD , saw it on the shelf, paid for it and scheduled a delivery. Delivery date came and 1/2 of purchased lumber was missing. Poor management sold my lumber and couldn't provide a date when replacement would be available. Got a refund and hooked up my pontoon trailer and went hunting, for lumber, that is. A lot of time and energy wasted . Material purchased was freshly treated and HEAVY! Took care to stack and strap tightly to avoid dry out twisting. Also covered with heavy tarps to keep out of direct sunlight. I expect a lot of shrinkage but at least I can complete my project. Enjoying your vids keep it up!
I agree with you on the pressure treated shortage. Went to my local Lowes for some 2X6X 10's and only had a hand full and not in the best shape. Re-did my ramp to the shed for the lawn tractor.
Thanks Motor Mike. You are welcome.
hi there i took a load to the dump a few weeks ago and every other person were throwing old decks away . redoing decks while stuck at home . my wife went with me and we talked about it most the ride home .people stuck at home looking at a old deck time for a redo . but now days a lot use stuff like trex so be safe john
Really like to watch that saw mill work. Same in s/w Virginia, Lowe's has a lot of empty lumber racks, especially treated lumber. Have a great day.
We live in the Houston Texas area and I've not seen or heard of a lumber shortage yet. However, I do know that pool companies are running 6 months behind with so many people installing pools since travel has slowed. I was a lot like you on the pool idea for years. But, I finally gave in and had it built. We built our pool last November and spent 4 months getting it fixed up the way we want it and it's been great. It's good exercise and refreshing on hot days. And in south Texas, it's hot everyday this time of year.
Mike, i've never seen anything like that before. Just an amazing piece of equipment. The puppies are beautiful. All the best to you and the family. Thanks for the awesome videos.
Mike in the Denver area here. My part-time job is electrical contractor, and many panels, breakers, wire and many other parts are gone from the supply chain. I think this is partially the China Effect. Buy USA Made goods.
Good morning Morgans! I like the new camera location Mike from on top of the log! Pretty cool! Thanks for the video!
Love your channel. I'm in Ct and there's not only a major shortage of pressure treated and dimensional lumber but composite deacking also. Went to add an extention to my deck for a hot tub and the trex I needed is on backorder for 12-18 weeks. Welcome to the new world!
Good morning Dave here from the eastern shore ,md.
Watching you all drinking my coffee it's a rainy day
Dave,
We need rain again here for sure!
@@oldmanfred8676 Yes we do but the crops look great this year. The corn is tall on the country sides at st. 50 east ,west
Dave,
Very nice!! Some of the big Thunderheads that passed us by must have rained on you!
Good evening Mike and Melissa, great video. Sorry about your shortage of pressure treated wood around there. Might be a good time to look into treating your own wood if it’s feasible? I have never looked into that part either. I sure hate buying some PT wood from a store and bringing it home and having it all twisted and bent beyond use in a few days in the sun. Can’t get out there enough now to keep it all from warping so I’ll make do with what we can get done. Thanks for sharing with us,we do enjoy all your videos and thanks for allowing us to ride along with you all. Fred.
There’s a real shortage of pressure treated lumber here in Northern California, Mike. With so many folks at home, deck projects and fences are outstripping supply.
No pressure treated in Wisconsin or Minnesota either.
No shortage here, I just walk over to our LT35 Woodmizer and make what we need! I own a one man fabrication shop and its a little harder to get steel, the price has gone up too. Some other supplies take a little longer to get but so far we have been able to get what we need. We ordered a Wolferidge splitter right after the whole covid thing started and they got it to us only 2 weeks later then they originally quoted. I think thats really good considering whats going on!
Always enjoy your videos Mike and Melissa! Thanks
Hi Mike!
Love the channel! Yes, we have a shortage too and I'm located about 70 miles east of you in Cambria County.
I wanted to replace some stair stringers on my back deck. No pre-cut ones available or 2x12's to make them locally.
Even traveled to Blair County and the same there. Never seen it like this before.
I collect discarded wood from dumpsters. If there a new housing developments going up in your town drive around. Its amazing how much wood you can collect.
I sure wished that y’all lived close to me or that I had a place to come to that takes pride in what they do as y’all do great job on everything you do
I have not needed to buy any lumber lately so I have not noticed any shortage. But will go check out a couple of the big guys later this afternoon to see what their shelves look like.
Hannibal Mo. we had no problem getting pressure treated lumber for our steps, needed to replace about 50 1x4x 4 foot planks and 24 feet of 2x10's. We are retired.
Hold off to next year for projects. Be patient, don't get caught up in the latest panic.
Have not see a lumber shortage here in Houston area of Texas but with all of the saw mills and locally sources Yellow Pine I don't think we will have a problem. I bought 4 treated 4x4's yesterday and there was a good supply to choose from at Lowes. Thanks for all the great videos!
Thank you
The lumber racks at HD are pretty low in my area. Fortunately, I saw this possibly. In '18 and '19 I bought as much off the cull piles at HD and Lowe's as I could. Not the best stuff of course but certainly affordable and adequate for my needs. Eagerly awaiting the new build. Have a productive day.
Been sawing my own Norway Spruce (most 100' tall) for eventual T&G interior siding in my garage. No lumber shortage in New Berlin, NY. That makes me happy!
Mike how’s it going ! I’m from central Alberta I live close to a couple west Fraser mills and there yards are full to the point where one of them is talking shut down till the lumber moves ... 13 west Fraser mills were closed in BC just last year this all happened right after the extra cost was tagged on there product being sold to the United States West Fraser was a leader in the world lumber market ...
Hi Mike and Mallisa!!😀😀
As you know I'm in the logging business. One of the big reasons why there is a lumber shortage is that they have closed the importing of lumber from Canada.
Even though there is a shortage. The sawmills want to try and cut our prices for logs.
I don't know how long before the lumber begins to come in again. But it sure would be nice if we could get a raise.
Take care my friends!!😀😀
Logger Al
I'm a California tree hugger... But I'm practical: I'd rather see a happy logger and thriving industry. Rather than a pile of ashes. When those forests burn...it's a shame that you guys could have harvested it etc. Yeah, a practical tree hugger...with a sense of reality!
I’m in construction near the city so luckily all our studs are metal but I have a friend who works with wood and well he’s having a shortage of work because of the shortage of wood
Here in WI same thing. I was planning on putting up a privacy fence this July. Checked inventory at local store for treated fence pickets. They had 3 in stock. Check all stores within 50 mile radius - Total from all stores, less than 100. Fence project on hold til next summer...lol 😀👍🍻
Good morning all, Phil from Kansas City here. Not much going on here today, or maybe I am just being lazy. Have a Day.
Having your own sawmill means no shortage of lumber as long as you have trees.
Truck bed cover, you could go to a tarp shop and get one made.
Computer issues try an office supply company chain.
An alternative for lumber is light steel framing, I added a mechanical room in my Barndominium. I built it with steel framing.
God bless you and your family.
The stars of the show the pups. I really liked that vest my pup Chesty-Devil Dog would like one. It is pretty much picked over here in Va at Lowe's they have no idea when shipments will be delivered. Some people can't be happy with anything Colin. Thank you for sharing your video with us. Hello Hunter. Ed
The Morgan's Sawmill Cinema...(loving it)
Hunter! Hey sir! Another video TId- bit, saw you slide by during the intro!!!
Definitely a shortage here in Dallas TX area. Glad you guys are able to keep moving on the building.
Several weeks ago there was a line of cars outside the Lowes parking lot and the lot was FULL!Figure home hobbyists getting lumber and tools for home projects. Then last weekend took my car into the dealer for its routine oil change and checkup-walked the lot while waiting-lot stock was VERY low.Was caused by difficulty in getting parts from China to go into building cars. Also hear the tool lineup was changing at both Lowes and Home Depot.Brands being changed. No Menards or Home Depot in my area-just TWO Lowes-one on each side of town. There was a small HD-it closed many years ago-just after the second Lowes opened-the old HD building is now a Burlington Coat Factory.
Good afternoon Hunter ! I had to leave for work so early this morning that todays video had not even been posted yet :-o so I'm pretty late to say Hi Buddy ,
hope you have had a good day ;-)
Lowe’s here in Eastern PA also has a shortage of pressure treated lumber. One of the employees told me the mills were shut down for 3 weeks and are now trying to catch up.
Mike - I haven't noticed a lumber shortage here in Davenport, Iowa. There's lots of construction going right now, and I went to Lowes to pick up a couple of sheets of Oak plywood and didn't really see a shortage. I wasn't looking a pressure treated stuff so can't really comment on that. Blessings to you and the family.
Same here in Nova Scotia , Canada , No lumber !! And we are an area with lots of lumber standing in our woods ! I figure we will be sorted out here in Canada in about 18 months , hopefully !! Please stay safe !! Hello to Hunter !! Good to see he went with the spicy Chicken !!
How you been Wayne?
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans fine thank you . Mostly in lock down. We are getting out a bit . Wishing our world was in better shape . Stay safe and Hello to Hunter !!! Thankfully I can watch your videos !!! Have last booster shot on Thursday , then we forget about cancer !!! 2 years clear , and hopefully with the booster shots , it will be many many years before it comes back !!
I did have to hit two Lowe's and a Home Depot to get what I needed last month. My local Lowe's was really out. I was getting 2x10x8' and -12' pine, and treated 2x4x8s and -12s. Even had to get some 16 foot treated and cut them down to 12s. I was using the 8' treated cut in half so that 4' extra covered that. Went back a couple more times this month and some things were low or picked over. Home Depot seemed better in numbers. Last month it was all decks all the time. Repairs mostly it looked like.
We are building a new house in central Minnesota and luckily we are well beyond needing lumber. Builder did have trouble getting interior doors and there is a shortage of appliances.
Hi Mike, love the videos. I live in Saint Charles, Missouri, it is just west of St Louis. The last time I looked at home depot they had plenty of lumber, but I am looking at getting a fishing boat and most of the trolling motors and fish locators are out of stock from the manufactures.
As someone who’s been in the lumber industry my whole career, this is a bubble in the supply chain. Just like toilet paper, the same amount (plus or minus) lumber has been produced. What happened is that during the early days of Covid, lumber yards were nervous about shut downs so they kept inventories low. This pushed the lumber priced down hard in April. As things picked up, yards kept inventories low while buying picked back up and then construction opened back up. The yards all started to buy to build inventory at the same time, but since production at the mills was the same, there wasn’t enough wood to fill the inventory or even keep up with increased demand. This will cause delays and price increases. In uncertain times, lumber prices can be very volatile. I would bet that prices will fall in September/October, but not back to where they were. Nice to have a sawmill during times like this. 👍🏻
Thanks Russ. We are about to build and don't need a shortage.
David Dunbar there is a wholesale dimensional lumber index that’s called Random Lengths that’s now owned by RISI. On there you can buy charts of historical lumber prices by product or the index as a whole. Retail doesn’t always track with Wholesale, but if your builder gets the lumber from a good builder yard it won’t be marked up too high. I would think that it would be worth your while to track the market and proceed when the market starts to cool off. My guess is September. Keep in mind, framing lumber is typically less than 5% of the overall cost of a home. No need to panic.
Hi Mike, from one of the views 8:56 looks like the de-barker might be a little low. Fun watching these in the morning here in SW Missouri
I concur. It does look like the de-barker is cutting low.
We are building a home not only lumber but the concrete went from $30,000 to $45,000 for our ICF walls. Our contractor fortunately ordered the pressure treated ahead of time. The pressure treated is on a 6 week backlog. We are in Northeastern New Mexico.
Greetings from Central NH (Lakes Region) - Definitely a shortage, especially pressure treated. We are in the midst of a major reno of our son's lake cabin and we have been lucky so far. We haven't needed PT. What I anticipate needing I think I have covered for now. Wish I had you as a neighbor as a red pine supplier!!
Hello Morgan's
Bought a kitchen appliance package at Home Depot...4th of July sale, delivery is SEPTEMBER 30! Pressure treated lumber is wiped out, wait till next year on deck project.
Archie!... wow lumber shortage who ever thought! TELL BUCKIN THAT! GREAT IDEA DOGGIE VESTS! GREAT IDEA FANNIE PACK! thanks 4 video. be kind.
Ive heard of a local shortage in northwest Florida. This is secondary to a supply problem from Hurricane Michael knocking down all of our pine trees. Most of the trees are rotting on the ground and are too mangled for anything
Great videos as always Mike and Melissa. Here in the UK we don`t seem to use lumber like you do in the States, but a good friend of mine is a motor mechanic and he has told me that he is finding difficulties in obtaining parts for vehicles. We do have to import almost all our vehicle parts. Keep up the videos, can`t wait to watch the garage being built.
Yup! Mid-Hudson Valley, NY here. Talked to a local hardware store owner and he said he's having trouble getting lumber.
Lumber shortages here in Ontario as well. Pressure treated material hard to find, some stores are only allowing locals to purchase it.
Hey Mike, I'm in the Cookeville Tennessee area . Last year we built a 16 by 30 deck. This year I wanted to finish the under skirt with deck boards matching the top. Last year a 16' deck board cost $7. This year the price is $13 if you can find them. There is a shortage. Needless to say, we are postponing finishing the deck.
We're finding various different things are out of stock and long wait times.
Not sure of box stores, but the Amish have tons. Mike I highly recommend getting a Diamond Back cover for your truck. Made in our home state. Love mine
In western Michigan, treated 1x6, 1x8, and 1x4s were in short supply a couple weeks ago at Lowes. As far as cutting our own lumber, each stick has to be certified, graded, and stamped by a forester before we can build any structural component with it. You're lucky you don't have that limitation.
Mike don't forget to come home and just spend time with family!
Hi mike. A wee suggestion, build a trough to collect sawdust and extend shute from saw into it. Keeps walkway clear and easier to collect dust
Goodmorning from Sardis City, Alabama 🇺🇸😇👍
Two things come to my mind everytime I see Hunter. 1. Dustin Hoffman 2. Solitary Shell song from Dream Theater, which is a tribute to folks with autism. Wish you all the best big guy!
Hey Hunter! You slid in and out kind’a fast at the beginning of the video.....👍
Totally agree about shortage and price increase! I just paid 25$ for a damn 1x12x8 Pine for a closet shelf....and there were only 3 to choose from....as you have guessed...not a great piece either. Same on computers, scaled back production due to virus, school systems going nuts buying everything out there for school to start in a couple weeks. Yep, supply, demand, price increase on many things...._
Haven't heard about shortage here in western Wisconsin. Of Course we have a company called Menards which is a Lowes equivalent which is headquartered in Eau Claire Wi. They are prevalent through the Midwest like Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Just watched this video and im not sure whats happening with lumber here. I bought some in the beginning of July and there didnt seem to be an issue then. Anyway point of my comment is i just bought a Wood Mizer LT15 so it wont be affecting me if theres a lumber shortage now. After watching all of Mikes videos i cant wait to start milling. I have an endless supply of soft wood mill logs too. STAY SAFE everyone!!
I just replaced my 2009 27" Apple iMac computer with a new Mac Mini and a 24" LG Monitor. And I love it. Yesterday, I discovered that my Apple watch can automatically unlock my new computer so I don't have to type in the password. Very nice feature.
Hi mike here in Hampton Va. shortage of treaded lumber at Lowe’s,Home Depot, 84 lumber ,treaded lumber outlet bays are empty .like your show
Mike , you are right about the lumber shortage, Prices have almost doubled here in Ontario eg. deck boards a year ago were around $6 . 00 per board now are $10. 50 each if you can get them./ Pressure treated wood takes about 3 months to produce from cutting to final treating
My 69th birthday, Bud Pelletier from western Massachusetts
Happy birthday Bud...from Calgary Alberta Canada!😃
Happy birthday mate, from down under in Tasmania.
Happy Birthday bud💥👍

Happy Birthday Bud 🎂🎊🎊🎆🎇🎇🎆🎆🎂🎂🎂🎂🙋🙋🙋🙋 from central New York
I am in Dansville, NY. My local Lowe’s and local hardware store are out of pressure treated lumber. Three weeks ago I paid $12 for a 2x6x8 PT board. My local Lowe’s does have plenty of regular lumber.
Mike, I had a shadowbox fence installed at the end of June, and I needed 6 2x4s complete my portion of the project. Back then Lowes was bear and Home Depot almost bear! Luckily I was there at the right time to get the lumber needed, and I live in the south hills of Pgh.
I'm in the composite panel industry. More specifically, particleboard. We are going all out right now but we are having a terrible time getting necessary supplies like N95 dust masks.
Mike - gotta love it. “I only have one (261)...” 😂 lol. With all your deer, do you have a tick problem? Marcus from Chesapeake VA.
I'm a general contractor in Prince Edward Island Canada and pressure treated lumber is in very short supply and any type of plywood pricing is all over the place. I can only see it getting worse as Covid starts shutting down plywood plants in the south of the USA. I have been doing work for folks who usually spend a few thousand travelling to warmer areas in the winter and couldn't this year and are spending that money on their home instead. I can't see anyone from my area travelling to Florida for a few years with what is happening there at the moment.
I live in Central Florida. Don’t believe the hype. The death rate is lower than the regular flu. The labs here lost all credibility and were fudging the numbers.
@@normawong123 you are entitled to your opinion but I don't think it's a world wide conspiracy.
G'day Mike n Mel wood is gold 👍
Hey Mike we get a Lotta lumber imported from Canada to western New York by rail with the border closed down no lumber is coming in from Canada to the railyards which is usually distributed across the south of us
Shelves were mostly empty of lumber at the HD & Lowe's last month in southern Idaho.
here in Cincinnati we seem to be having shortage of pressure treated lumber too.
Hi Morgan’s , with all the saw dust you create with your Wood Mizer , you should look into creating fire logs out of the saw dust!
Hi Mike, Pressure treated lumber is up almost 100% if you can find it. Kiln dried building lumber is in stock with no real price change currently but you never know where this will go or end.
Hi Mike, another great video. Where i live north eastern Ontario, they are working on logging roads and bridges so i believe that mean they will be logging hard this winter to catch up on shortage and take advantage of high prices.
Same up In central NY. Hard to find pressure treated lumber at Lowe's or anywhere else. If you find it you pay dearly. Thought we were the i my area. Have a day 👍
I appreciate all the varied camera placements on the sawmill, lets us see from many angles.
Looks like the debarker might be running just a tad low.
Good morning from St John Parish, Louisiana.
No Shortages here in Northern California . My Daughter lost four rental homes and a mini strip mall in the CAMP Fire(Paradise , CA) and I lost 3 Rental Homes in the CARR Fire(Redding , CA) And All of the Lumber to rebuild them all was just delivered two weeks ago . I was in Our Local Home Depot and Lowe's and they had all the lumber you wanted . All of the Cabinets have been built and are sitting inside one of my Warehouses ready to install . All of the Raised Panel Doors for inside the homes and outside have been made and are ready to install . All of the PELLA Windows are in as well . NO SHORTAGES HERE ...
Hi Mike, talked to the owner of a lumber-hardware store and he said he is having trouble getting treated wood in and is waiting on 2 semi loads now but he does not know when he will get them in. Have a great weekend and tractor on from west central Illinois
Jim from Edmonton Alberta Canada ... very limited pressure treated wood here as well
Hey Mike,
I live in Utah and I'm a general contractor.i specialize in building log homes and cabins mainly off grid.i can honestly tell you out here there is not a Lumber shortage.believe it or not where i live is called the Wasatch front, and we have the most building permits pulled monthly per capita than anywhere in the country.and it's been like this for almost10 years now. Enjoy all your videos.tell Hunter hello from the great state of Utah
I work for the competition and I haven't noticed a shortage of lumber or much else. Our installers are behind a bit which is irritating for people. We also have a window vendor that closed two plants until further notice. I'm in Missouri just north of Kansas City and building hear has not slowed for a very long time. It started in the 80s and kept going...
I did stop to check the lumber supply at a Home Depot near New Orleans, LA and there was plenty available. Walked up and down each lumber isle and only saw one empty spot. The prices did seem to be high though.
I went to depot month ago said they where out of pressure treated but went and found what I could make work for raised vegetable garden.
Plenty of pine select
Charlie here i the foothills of Virginia. We are building a combination building that features machine storage, work shop and chicken coop. The pressure treated 6x and 2x materials that i had riced two months ago are now running 150% more. Now i am looking for family run saw mill to provide what i need .r
We're in Northeastern Pa and building a wood shed similar to yours. Ours is rough cut and we're staining it with Do It Best Green stain. Project half done and stain needed to finish is on back order for over a month. Our local hardware store has even tried to get the base to make the stain from other Do It Best stores and they also have none.
Will find out shortly, ready to start building new house in Anderson SC. Will let you know..
