RURAL WOMEN EMPOWERMENT - TAILEVU FARMING

This week on your business show we travel to the interior of Tailevu to Savu Village in the district of Vugalei.
Here a group of hard working women have embraced the concept of commercial farming, venturing out into sustainable livelihood projects to help put food on the table.
Talk Business follows the group on their journey into the rugged terrains of Tailevu to where they plough the land to make a living - showcasing their struggles, determination and of course their harvest.

A beautiful production of how we take things for granted only to realise that behind what we buy from the rural vendors is the sheer hard work and determination of the villagers and the hardship and struggles they face to earn their living. What a first hand experience for the presenter to bring the reality of rural living.

Alot of the people in the bigger islands in the South Pacific live the same life and face similar problems. I think Its time we work together and formulate plans and policies that work towards attracting funding to support these people not only in Fiji but all over the south pacific, especially in Melanesia. I feel if its something the MSG can address then why not we go for the Road and Belt innitiative to address these problems. Just my view, i maybe wrong. We cannot view the hardships and live with it, we must find solutions and it is a problem that affects the wider community in Melanesia. Road problems in the Highlands is a common problem faced in Malanesia, if its a common problem, then regional institutions must work to see this common problem addressed.
