Research: How does water movement affect oyster growth?

Maryland Sea Grant fellow Brendan Campbell’s research is focused on understanding how tides, currents, and waves affect oyster growth and quality. For six months in 2021, he conducted a field experiment in a commercial oyster farm on the Patuxent River, employing two inexpensive tools he’s developed to gather data on water movement around and within oyster gear.
