Great post. My ancestors worked here in 1800’s I could only imagine there were hundreds of men scattered about the place then.
My great grandfather and great great grandfather worked in this mine.
So did mine. Great Grandfather and great great Grandfather. ❤️
Every profession has its proper uniform. It may now be known that Tweed is the appropriate attire for slate drilling.

What happened to it?I am a slater from London and the Welsh slate is the top of the market slate

@@raybans8712 I'm not sure. My assumption was it being due to health and safety or the environment.
The Dinorwic Quarry Closed in 1969, only 7 years after the time of this Documentary ( 1962 ). All of the Dinorwic Alice Class locomotives were preserved. Not sure about the Diesels though.
1:44, Ruston&Hornsby 48DL. Ok.
UA-camrs are eating slates with clay paste.
All gone now, did not stand the test of time
