    Back in the days in Korea teachers were able to “discipline” kids ☠️☠️☠️ it didn’t happened to me but it happened with my father he told me a lot os stories about him getting beat up with a wood stick by one of his teachers who was very strict, also if you have money in Korea you pretty much get away with mostly everything… in Korea rich kids can study in the same schools as normals kids, I actually did… the treatment they get is completely different from normal students

      @chudawonn Рік тому +23

      @@monetdehane8421 not actually, korean public schools are overall very good, there’s no reason to put them in a private one (that doesn’t mean that there aren’t schools exclusively for rich people tho) and because those kids already have private teachers at home and they also can go to expensive courses, korean rich parents wants their kids to have the same prestige as them so they want them to go to the best colleges, usually they’re the ones who end up on those colleges

    FYI these kind of bullying that reaches almost attempted murders like in this drama are real in South Korea, there are quite a lot of Koreans who talked about that in their social accounts. So when I see a bullying scene in a k-drama I know that that could be very true and not fictional.

  • @leeJL12

    I'm Korean, and I'm about the same age as the characters in this show, so I went to school in those years in Korea.
    Back in the day, it wasn't uncommon to see a school teacher occasionally use violence in the name(excuse) of "discipline." It was socially allowed to some extent, and it was especially true when a student is not from a wealthy family or doesn't have good grades.
    Even in those years, I wouldn't say beating up a student this much was a casual thing you see every day, but I've seen something like this in school a couple of times. The homeroom teacher definitely snapped when Dongeun brought his son up. But as you can see, other teachers are not quick to take him away from her, which kind of shows you it was allowed to some degree.
    Fortunately, you can't imagine such a thing in school now. People take it much more seriously, and it's socially not acceptable. According to a friend of mine who's a school teacher, you will be in big trouble if you lay a hand on one of your students.
    Unfortunately, on the other hand, school bullying is still present. Not all of them are this extreme, but you do see it on the news every now and then.
    Anyway, I just wanted to give you a bit of background since you guys asked if that was normal. Love your reaction videos!!!

      @@woomung Teachers should lay a hand on the students for "discipline" but only for those who are repeating violators or delinquents to make them in line. The problem in Korea tho that teachers only punish those students that aren't in a wealthy/influential families and being lenient to those who have one.
      I don't condone violence but I support a proper discipline and guidance and the use of your "hands" only as a last resort to straighten up the students who were really stubborn to the core and a repeat offender in school or even in society itself.

    Fun fact, the actress Yeom Hye-ran in this show who plays as Kang Hyu-Nam who helps Dong-Eun get revenge on her past bullies, is also in another kdrama involving minors who do heinous crimes until a judge comes in and starts SERVING TRUE JUSTICE towards actual victims and truly punishing young offenders. The kdrama is called "Juvenile Justice" and it is good too. That show focuses on how minors think they can get away with anything... until a new judge shows up and she sets them straight! The Glory and Juvenile Justice are satisfying for me as you get some relief and satisfaction but another KDRAMA that is known to make everyone so angry and unsatisfied each episode is called "PENTHOUSE" which is literally like "Juvenile Justice " and "The Glory" combined but instead the RICH bad guys adults and KIDS always win.... lol crazy. So, I’m persian and japanese, and I can tell you the bullying in Japan is bad, and just in east asian countries in general. I never went to school in Japan tho, so I’m not quite sure of the experience. In Korea, I know it’s extremely awful though. I have a friend who’s Korean and went to school in Korea, and she explained that the bullying is even worse than what’s shown in the glory, sometimes. I have a cousin who’s mixed, japanese and black, and they were relentlessly bullied. Like to the point where they had been choked in a room in the school. The kids never got punished, and I don’t know the full story on why they didn’t, probably due to the parents status or maybe the kids had good grades. Bullying in East Asia is cruel, and in western countries, the bullying could literally never compare. Bullying in East Asia can be near attempted murder. I also want to add this is the reasoning for why people are so upset when Korean Idols get exposed for bullying in past years. It’s not like any type of bullying you see in America, it’s a million times worse, so that’s why it’s such a heavy issue for these idols if they get exposed for what they’ve done.

    You might think that a teacher slapping his student in a school is unlikely to be real.
    I'm about the same age as Dong Eun and was in highschool in 2006.
    And no, some sick fucks worked at schools back then indeed was like that.
    Such action would not be tolerated nowadays, but back in mid 2000's, teachers beating/slapping students in a school, in public, as a punishment was considered as a part of education and they called it "Whip of love".
    Beating was done in a "Professional manner", so they used various "Tools" to do that.
    Math teachers carried metal rulers cuz plastic ones would break if you hit someone with it, others used small wooden sticks or bamboo sticks. And when matters are serious, most common tools of choices were mop sticks, but they went bigger than that time to time.
    I once saw a grown man beating a highschool kid in the ass with a baseball bat. After 3 full swings, the kid was on the ground and was barely crying. He had to go to the hospital later, and nothing happened to the guy who beat the kid.
    Ironically, slapping with bare hand was considered unprofessional or unjust, that is why other dudes kind of try to look like they're trying to stop the homeroom teacher when he slaps Dong Eun repeatedly. Cuz they dont wanna "Look Bad"

    This is not normal in Korea. If job finds out a person bullied another person in the past or in the present days, they get terminated or won't get hired. So it is pretty serious in Korea. Teachers won't even have a power like that now. Teachers can't even lay a finger on student's head. This happened in early 20's and I believe before then it was a normal thing for a teacher to whoop student's behind if they are misbehaving until early 20's. Ofc it is not like that in this drama. You can't just beat up students without any reason even back then. But things are super different now. It's super serious thing if it happens nowadays.

    My mother's English teacher used to scrape the back of their necks with rocks from the train tracks nearby, as punishment. My mom is in her fifties now and still depises the English language because of him. This was in Malaysia, Jit Sin High School

    As a korean, at that time, violence against students by teachers was common. However, it is a rare case that a homeroom teacher hits a student in the teacher's room while other teachers are watching. But it is possible, and this is what I witnessed when I was a student. Before and after Korean society was democratized, the authoritative element of the military dictatorship remained everywhere in society. This is likely to happen in that era.

    Yes, I asked my parents if they had seen or experienced the school-teacher violence and they said yes. Now it's prohibited and obviously an adult should not lay any hands on a child like that but back in those days, it was possible and experienced.

    As an American who has lived in Korea over 7 years, whose profession is teaching, and has a lot of Korean friends (that I've talked about this with), any form of physical violence is NOT tolerated in school. However, years ago, even in the early 2000s small forms of physical punishment, like a hit on the wrist, feet, or head was common. But slapping... no way. So even for Koreans, this extreme form of bullying is not really heard of

    • @rai2423
      @rai2423 Рік тому

      She’s too young for all of that. Even if she told her she wouldn’t really understand the gravity of her mothers actions. I do think she’s trying to take the daughter away from her but not in the way you think. Maybe help the father get full custody? Idk.

    Back in the day in Korea it was normal for teachers to hit their students as "punishment" No one could really do or say anything because it was normalized

  • @jiyun2621
    @jiyun2621 Рік тому

    I am Korean. This drama is based on real events.And like the drama story, bullying is happening in Korea, and it is repeated more than this, and girls in particular extort money by forcing their classmates to engage in prostitution.The reason why this happens repeatedly is that the punishment is very weak.All laws in Korea are made to protect the perpetrator, and the victim has to live away from the perpetrator..In Korea, the judiciary does not protect victims.Another thing is that Korea has the Chokbeop Juvenile Act, so even if you commit serial murders under the age of 15, you will not be punished.There's no punishment for killing one person, killing two people, killing ten people.Even if you drink and kill someone, it ends with insurance.There is no criminal punishment. So, there is a saying in Korea that Korea is a country of perpetrators heaven...It's not a big deal to happen like the big deal..In Korean society...
