Thanks James: I hope people appreciate your generosity of spirit sharing and teaching these pearls which can set us off on our own road as musicians and not just guitarists. Priceless. You are a gem.
That t-shirt is magical. At any angle you move, the Who are staring at you. 😎 Great lesson on my second favorite Thin Lizzy song-after The Boys Are Back In Town.👍👍
Really great James that you shared your insights on finding keys and notes, your channel is so informative, sharing and inspiring. I feel you really simplify a lot of the technical mystique guitarists such as myself don’t understand even after many years of struggling. Really may your light shine long and bright, Sincere thanks.
This is the best lesson yet on how you figure songs out. I remember you telling someone there are no shortcuts, to begin you just have to start working on it, but this is a very useful short cut.
Glad to see you're still making videos. Never realized this channel existed til just now. Your old channel has always been my go to for Led Zepplin, thank you!
Like your answer about listen and experiment reminds what my dad would say. I can show you and you’ll forget it by tomorrow but if you figure it out you’ll remember forever thx again for all the great and positive lessons rock on!
Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak somewhere in this town" you made me laugh. Not one of Phil's most poetic moments. " Hey you, good looking' female, come here" always made me laugh. I think he was more worried about vibe than words on this one lol. Still one of my all time favourites. Its definitely in my top 3 Thin Lizzy songs
Thank you good sir! The line “somewhere in this town” ya mentioned is funny cuz where would a jailbreak be. I’m taking it as the jail isn’t literally a jail. Maybe they mean it to mean many things. Maybe your jail is a girl that you’re ready to bust out from. Or you’ve been too passively living and that’s the jail to break out of. If I wanna find how to play a tune you’ve made a video for it. We must have similar tastes or age or whatever but you’ve got the taste that I dig. 👍👍
It sounds like its trying to be jailbreak (the bad example) Gary Moore! Wow how that song brings back memories of times certainly gone by. Like your sense of humor, Dear Brutus, my childhood take on Dear Prudence...came out in my last comment on your site!
That middle riff that happens when the sirens go off, it makes me wonder if thats where Iron Maiden got the riff for "The Number Of The Beast". Sounds similar and I know they were heavily influenced by Thin Lizzy.
For the E chord in the chorus, I like how you fingered it in your earlier video; First position E chord with the little finger on the 4th fret of the G string. Gives a full on, 6 string power chord version of the E. Extra snarly !!
Good one. Another clue that the tuning might be other than standard: guitarists are lazy and most things are in a few common keys: E,A,G,D, C. If the song sounds like its in E flat, its almost certainly tuned down a half step. All bets are off if you have a horn section- those guys love B flat
To be able to match that first chord, it would be nice to have software that could freeze playback of a song while continuing to sound the last note indefinitely. This does not seem like a lot to ask in this AI world, but the last time I looked I could not find software that could do that.
Sorry if this question makes me sound obtuse, but once you tune the E string to the correct note do you adjust all the other strings as if you were tuning to standard but use the new note you tuned the E string as a guide? Sorry if that doesn't make sense.
Yes, you tune them all down. But you don’t need me to tell you that. Try it with just the E tuned down and see what that sounds like. Explore your guitar. You’ll learn more from trial and error than you’ll ever learn from me.
OR...ya just tune the low E to D. That is the way we played it in the 70s at the bar. Much easier and sounds more authentic. But, thais way is cool too.
At first I thought where is he going with this? I thought every guitarist knows that the song is tuned down half a step with F#m, A, B ad nauseum...I won't doubt you again, JJ.. shouldn't have in the first place...love the shirt.
@@jamesjames9275 I have been playing so long that I forget about that. I had to learn by playing by ear too...I'm old enough to remember a time before UA-cam and tutorials..or even tab for that matter... keep up the good work!
Hey, James! I just would like to thank you for all your advices about guitar playing, I'm a way better guitarrist because of you! I'm so excited now 'cause I've learned And Lover Her solo by ear. You helped me a lot to make this childhood dream come true. My name is Matthews, I'm 16 years old and I wish all the best! Don't care about these fuckers annoying you.
jailbreak…well in a sense…in their vernacular pertainin to tha lifestyle of that day….couldve meant they were goin to cut loose with a benda of somesort 🤪
It’s a #5 and I’ve had it for years before stimulus checks. And it’s a hand-built replica converted from a 2015 Deluxe, not from the Custom Shop. I would never pay for one of the Custom Shop replicas.
"This is why you keep more than one Les Paul". Brilliant!!
I think I’m am now officially tuned into this channel more than anywhere else. Everyday a great cover/lesson & somedays multiples.
Thanks James: I hope people appreciate your generosity of spirit sharing and teaching these pearls which can set us off on our own road as musicians and not just guitarists. Priceless. You are a gem.
Haven't heard that track for ages....thanks boss! love the shirt!!!

Mines cowboy song then boys, then this, and dancing in the moonlight great band
You've been on fire with the lessons since your are has recuperated! Another great one with Jailbreak.

Hey James, great advice on learning a song! Loved the "except for Steely Dan" referral. Hilarious :) Great lesson too! Thank you.

Nice! Just about got Cowboy Song down. Work n this tomorrow ✌🏽👍🏽🎸
Glad to see you're still making videos. Never realized this channel existed til just now. Your old channel has always been my go to for Led Zepplin, thank you!
The guitar tone on the studio version is class👏🏿
The magic of playing the main riff is in the picking hand. Great tune!

True. These lyrics are no sillier than Stairway to Heaven, when you think about it.
Always a great lesson JJ. Don't say so often enough, but you know. Thanks mate. 👍
Great song 👍 Great lesson 👍 JJ 🙏
Brilliant lesson I like the way you explained how you found the chords and tuning this helps me allot many thanks.
Really good breakdown of Jailbreak!
Thanks for your lesson. 👍👍👍

Yeah, he's talking about a bunch of guys breaking out of the "jail" of having girlfriends. I get it. But it still sounds silly. :)
“That’s why you need a couple of Les Pauls” Hahahaah!! At least that’s what we tell the wives James! 😂🤫
The Who t-shirt and Pete Townshend LP combo, priceless!
The best rock songs are the simplest ones. Fight me!
No argument from me.
It sounds like its trying to be jailbreak (the bad example) Gary Moore! Wow how that song brings back memories of times certainly gone by. Like your sense of humor, Dear Brutus, my childhood take on Dear Prudence...came out in my last comment on your site!
good one james! great advice on finding the first chord...
Great advice, wish someone had given it to me years and years ago!!

Thanks for posting this!
Does anyone know the correct way to play jailbreak on the bass
Thank you for the best lesson on youtube
Thank you James for the advice 👍
Great band, great riffs
Are those DiMarzios in the middle position?
For the E chord in the chorus, I like how you fingered it in your earlier video; First position E chord with the little finger on the 4th fret of the G string. Gives a full on, 6 string power chord version of the E. Extra snarly !!
Great one JJ!
Where did you get the t shirt from?
Great tune JJ....is the new LP filling the void the Tokai left? Sounds great!

Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak somewhere in this town...how bout maybe the JAIL?!?
Gary was such a monster on Guitar!
He was, but you probably already know he didn’t play on this.
I like your choice of words
Thank goodness there was another Les Paul.
Thanks James, I don’t think you suck😂. With your help I should be able to learn and have fun
Which LP comes with middle set of spit coil pick ups?
Usually, the ones you see with 3 pickups are Customs. But people sometimes install a third one on Standards and Deluxes.

Great lesson but AWESOME shirt!
A Jailbreak in Dublin back then was getting out of your own estate. I know why it doesn't translate tho.
Genesee beer? Are you in upstate NY?
Love that tshirt man
Tony Iommi's favourite riff!
Fantastic, thank you for the explanation 👍

It's easier to identify with Scott Gorham, he's the guy one's wife is staring at ;)
I came just to say I love your t-shirt
Does that sound like JailBreak to you? ahahahah...One of the Dirty Dogs band most requested song...ahahaha
hey James, probably a stupid question, but is standard pitch 440? Thanks, Great lesson as always!! Can't believe Buffalo considering trading Eichel..
Yes, 440.
Thanks James !
How to get The Who shirt ? I really want to one
Hi James I just wanted to ask what mandolin did you use in your battle for evermore lesson?
It’s a Kentucky.
when you're going to receive the 100.000 subs award?
I probably won’t. I have more than 100,000 subscribers on my old channel and they never gave me anything for that.
OR...ya just tune the low E to D. That is the way we played it in the 70s at the bar. Much easier and sounds more authentic. But, thais way is cool too.
More authentic than the way it was actually played?

At what age did you begin to play?
About 14, I think.

A great riff with an absurd lyric.
