I think the most obvious answer about what the show will do with Mat is “nothing.” He’ll go to Tanchico, have 1 scene where he finds Thom, and then nothing. The show needs screen time for Rosamund Pike and ham and butter sandwiches.

He'll go there and wait for the girls to rescue him.
Am I the only one here who read all the books? Even in the BOOKS Matt had nothing to do for most of the story. Just a bunch of narrative about dice rolls with the father of lies.

This show is a zombie. No one watched. Its only still airing because it was written prior to the strikes and the contract with 'the stars meaning Rosamond Pike was for three years. Its saving grace is that it is 1/9th the cost (cheaper) per an episode than The Rings of Power. I predict a whole lot of 'leads' will die at the end of Season 3 to escape this literal career killing sh!t show.
i suppose Mat's victory against Couladin is going to be given to Aviendha, if they even have Couladin.
Nah, Aviendha will be with Perrin in the Two Rivers. After all, Faile does not exist...
I believe someone has been cast as Faile for s3, but then again with this show maybe SHE will go to the waste with Rand and Aviendha will go with Perrin @@Draconic.
@@gadflyfiction I would say that's reassuring, but judging from previous track record, it really isn't. I would not be surprised if Faile was casted only so that she can die on screen.

At this point there isn't any leak too crazy to believe because the actual season is going to be way more of a slapped together deviation than anything we can come up with.
That's not true at all... if there was a leak that said, "from this point forward they were going to follow the book story perfectly"... that would be far too crazy to believe.

Nobody should be surprised at this.
The entire point of Ishy giving the hallucinogenic tea to Mat in S2 was so they could replace *all* of Mat's character development, including his visits with the 'snakes and foxes' (Aelfinn and Eelfinn) and all his adventures in both Tear and the Waste, with a crappy tea drinking ceremony. That's it, that's all we get.
It's a complete waste of a brilliant character, and a fan favourite. It also pretty much confirms the stupid SL dagger tied to a bed post *is* the ashanderei, and Mat won't be getting another (proper one), despite what some show fans still claimed.
There's no hope they do anything properly with any of the characters at this point, especially not the 3 boys. This show continues to show active malice towards them and the source material.

I think you need to watch the series as its own thing. It has less and less to do with the books, they are combining people into one and placing scenes and events differently. I guess, they have no choice with 8 episodes per season. I watched both seasons, but it was hard to forget what happened in the books and to not compare. My husband, who did not read the books, liked the series and is now interested in reading the books. So, I guess, the series are not that bad after all. But it's going to be a very different story. Books and the series are two different things.
Why does It seem like Amazon and the show runners hate the original story? They were literally handed were the greatest pieces of fiction around, and they have completely phucked it up. And it all seems like it's for woke BS and the power of scissoring.
I'm guessing they wrote the story in such a way that Mats development in the waste is inaccessible now. I have an odd feeling we're going to get the following relationships: Min/Mat,Perrin/Aviendha,Rand/Elayne rather than what we got in the books.

Nup, the split will happen theyve actually set that up kind of - i think what this tells us is that Siuan will be executed, not stilled. And the foreshadowing of Mats stuff they talk about, you need to understand bro - they think that stuff was foreshadowing but his duct-tape dagger stick is actually his ashendarei, his tripping balls was actually his Aelfinn/Eelfinn stuff. It's just fucked lol.
Matt got his ashandari blade thanks to Paden Faine and his battle memories of fighting with all the heroes in previous lives, when he blew the horn to fight the small Seanchin group in front of him. Now there are no snakes and foxes through doorways, no being told he has to marry the Daughter of the Nine Moons, and no saving the soldiers from Couladins Aiel Waste people, thus no beginning of the Band of the Red Hand and no kidnapping of Tuon and getting married, who saves the day with Matt near the end of the Last Battle, when everyone else is nearly lost. This Wheel of Time is it's own story, which is sad because I don't see anyone else doing another TV Series telling Robert Jordan's story after this. This series is better than nothing, as I see it. I will greatly miss Matt's duel with Elaine's brothers in the White Tower and his helping to save Moraine within the Tower of Ghengi since all the fantasy stuff is being dropped, and Thom doesn't marry Moriaine.
Season 3 will be the final season is my bet. The show is a sjw hate letter to the actual source material. The tanchico story line was one of the weaker ones too and this is coming from a person who has read the series now more then 10 times.
Book lovers will love the loyalty since 2 characters are where the books said they'll be...oh my.... Maybe that means that the show will start being loyal... Cause it's in the books right

After the first season, I thought that it is still possible to get most characters back on their proper story arc. Unlikely, but possible.
After season 2, I do not believe there is a single character whose story can possibly be salvaged from this mess.

Tanchico might be a place to grab a ship to Mayene, which is close to the waste and also where Mat has important plot developments. I know it won't go like that. It'll be much stupider, but it's not 100% nonsense to go to Tanchico on the way to the Aiel waste.

Yeah, at this point they've changed more than they've kept. You have to imagine that takes a lot of work. Granted, they stabbed people with the ruby dagger in season 1, then pretended it never happened so I guess if you just ignore both the books and your own show, then I guess maybe it's not that hard.

Very little chance the Tower will be split in this abomination. And if it does somehow happen it will probably be a man's fault somehow and the Aes Sedai will fix it right away.
Elayne will step in and beat moghedian instead of Nynaeve as we need to rob the character of agency. just as they did in the final episode of season 2.
I won't be watching this season. They determined to to make their own show when they hired rafe, set a limit on the number of seasons and episodes per season, and hired more important actors to play less important characters than the actors hired to play the three main ones. This show is dead to me, but I still like supporting your work covering it.

I thought Perrin. I can see them cutting Emond's Field. They already ruined it. I am morbidly curious to see where this goes. What is he going to do there? Is Rand just alone with Moiraine/Lan? Where is Avienda at? Wtf is going to happen with Siuan?

Two things: Mat dies and lives again in Caemlyn...just sayin'. The show has set up what they need for the Band, with the "I remember" bullsh*t. His memories and battle knowledge (and luck, but to a lesser extent) are what make him the leader that he is. Not that I am defending this...they are going to try and shoehorn Mats role in tDR saving the girls in Tear into the Tanchico storyline, which has the potential to not only screw up Mat, but also screw up the girls storyline even further...
No one will do anything entertaining or memorable in the least. Even if you can make yourself forget the books the show is still hot garbage.
The have already cast Elaida and she will appear in S3. Will that occur due to political movements or from nefarious methods that is yet to be seen.
Expecting TV adaptions to be faithful to books 100 percent is unrealistic. See the Witcher, Game of Thrones etc. The Seeker was based on some pretty damn good books but didn't survive as it tried to closely follow the books which made it too slow for the masses (combined with crap marketing). Don't get me wrong I love the books, but with budget restraints and viewer goals based on commercial reality don't expect ANY adaption to be faithful to the original. Concepts yes, merged characters are common now (see Game of Thrones) as viewers find it too difficult to follow too many characters storylines. Don't blame me for right wing governments in western countries cutting public education funding for 20 years. This is what you get.
LOL I started the wheel of time s01and it was so bad I could not finish it, I did not know they even had a S02 or making a S03. That show sucks bad (in my eyes).
If they combing Ebu Dar and Tan then I wonder what is getting cut: the Male A'dam or the bowel of the winds. They both are important for the endgame plot points.
They might actually pay off one of the plot points they bought up in season 1 though. Mat meets the ruler of Tan (instead of Ebu Dar) and sleeps with her willingly because he is into older women... That or they aged up Min so he goes to for her and they cut that plot out. If that's true then they can cut out two plot moments between Rand and min. Hand and collar.
