The neighbor feller gets SS , health care, government housing, food stamps because he is a Drunk and can’t hold a job. Started 10 years ago and he about 45+- now ! POS !
There is a law called Elder Abuse Law. Google it please. If anyone emotionally mentally physically or financially abuses a elderly person. Can go to jail
She eats ok. Many in their own places eat the same. The church veggies she gets are a blessing. I saw a video of Hong Kong where some young ones said they had to just eat rice boiled in salt. Nothing else. It's great some shops have cheap bags of things. Yeah good idea to help each other.
How can I send her a check-being a senior myself, I am quite touched by her story and sincerely want to help her!! I was luckier than her and have a fairly secure retirement income which allows me to help the less fortunate.Hope there's a way for me to help this woman.Scammers beware-I've become quite good at spotting scams as I have been a victim several times myself !By the way,SHAME on you scammers!
This video should be mandatory for all social security employees to watch. Congress should be ashamed. The government should be ashamed. The state should be ashamed. I am ashamed. To be an American knowing my neighbors are living this way while the rich get richer. Its disgusting. This woman and many others in this position deserve respect and dignity. Nothing less.
Greedy Corporations are causing this situation. Americans have not always been greedy like they are today. Corporations need to pay taxes at 25% just like I do. I am the same age as this lady and I still pay taxes on my retirement income. I have a house.
@@bonniehall578 just like I do? 25%? Here's me: $100K- $30K std. deduction=$70K $8K federal Tax- $8K CTC= $0 $0 federal tax I'm in my late 60's. Been retired, many years.
@@aolvaar8792you have obviously had the forethought or guidance to make different decisions. 40 years ago, this lady would have been surrounded by extended family who would help her survive. Are there other choices? Certainly. It looks to me like she’s taking the steps necessary to improve her life. Bragging about your superior tax status does absolutely nothing more than make you look like an ass
I agree. I happen to be on social security for MS. Thankfully my 22 year old lives with me. We can combine income, I can reduce her cost of living and I can get the support I need. America doesn’t take care of it’s people. It’s tragic.
This country should be ashamed of themselves for allowing our seniors to live in poverty. They've worked all their lives to have nothing to show for it. I am so proud to see you keep on keeping on Mrs Lindy. Gods Speed always ❤
It's the truth of all the crap they push you to learn in school that should be one of the most important things to learn. It should be taught in all grades in school 🚸.
@@carolyng5044 There is a shortage of skilled workers, but not enough programs to pay skilled workers to go to school, they still have to work to pay bills, but need to be re-education to get an competitive pay rate, and keep this country moving forward.
@@tdgdbs1 I was on the governance committee at a local college and I introduced and pushed for basic finance classes to be taught. It was implemented after I left on all three campuses.
Christine Blas Why don't you send this to congress? Choose someone you feel who cares and see what happens. Who knows. You may become a hero to many who cannot fight or fend for themselves. Try. I wish you success.
Lindy, you’re a pearl of a girl! I’m 68 and slightly disabled and living off my social security too but even so, I have embarked upon a project to build a tiny house village for disabled, seniors, and veterans. I’m scared to death but determined to get it done. Bought the land already, saved up for it, so I’m on my way…pray for us seniors, we’re not throwaways 🙏
I also plan to create an area for parking spaces for van lifers, tiny houses on wheels and skoolies be the will of God. I intend to barter services for the rent too.
I am a Gulf War Veteran and a fellow Vwt friend of mine died while living in his van in Arizona's heat. The unfortunate thing is he wasn't found until a couple of weeks later. Folks, let friends and family know where you park and keep in contact with them. I hope this lady is safe for the rest of her days here. I hope her children help her. 🙏 💀 Lost in America. 🇺🇲
So sorry for your loss. The heat in Colorado right now is really bad. I have 4 fans and 2 air purifiers running all the time. My electric bill is outrageous. I can't move around much because the heat is unbearable. But on the good side I'm still breathing.
Be very aware of the fires raging around the country. My dogs and I are in the Spokane area and, we were in the 496 air quality index for three days straight. I kept thinking we could outrun it but we couldn't we try driving 30 miles in each Direction. And then it got so bad I was overtaking. I basically laid down in my car with my dogs to die but they were struggling to breathe and so was I and at that point I could no longer think straight or breathe and after the Panic left me I was just hugging and loving on my dogs. My sister saved my life she rented us a hotel room for 2 days. So we could breathe. That's been over a week ago and my lungs are still not normal. It's not the forest fires that are burning it's the houses that are burning up and the stuff that releases in the air. Just anybody that's car camping, that's what I like to call it I prefer that than saying I'm homeless. Yes in newer cars there is some sort of filtration but it does not filter out this kind of terrible particulate matter. And you can die
I’m 75 and I’m living in my RV 6 months in my son’s driveway and 6 months in AZ to avoid the harsh winter months I have only my SS to live on. I’m doing ok but I wish that I could still work, but you have to deal with what life hands you. Thank you for sharing your life I really don’t think people understand how Seniors struggle on a daily basis
@@justwannasay5454 If you can rent your house out, do that! You can put money away for you and expenses on your house that will come up and for money to save for expenses on the road. Once you sell, there is no going back if you are a senior. Use every asset at you have to work for you.
I've been in a leaky RV for 7 years. Parked by a friend wherever possible. My back is screwed up but haven't been able to get disability & since I sold my house I don't qualify for welfare. It's doable if someone is kind enough to help. Good luck, folks.
What she said is true for millions of people on SS. I am 72 and also on SS and the only way you can survive if that's all you have is to have everything paid off and it's still not easy. There comes a time as you get old that it becomes very hard to continue to work as your body will not allow it anymore. Those people in the government that want to cut SS as far as the amount of money we receive should be voted out of office.
Sadly cutting ss and Medicare benefits is on the Republican agenda. I'm 63 so I will be there soon. I saw a bill they proposed on the whitehouse.gov website. Absolutely disgusting. Even Trump talked about massive cuts he would make to retiree benefits. Not to get political but that scares me. Luckily I am building up my 401k and savings but everyone doesn't have that luxury.
Shame on the world for not looking after the elderly and subjecting this lovely lady to potentially dangerous situations. I cried watching this. She has a son. If he is able, he should take her in, providing of course that she’d want to. God bless you, Lindy. ❤️
Just because you have kids do not mean they help in fact those closest to you are strange about this they think your lazy and the mindset is not on the right page. Basically rely on you that's my advice. It's to easy for others to use you like a servant and to them you should be grateful to make 5$an hour and then most of them hold it over your head. Most people just don't get it unless they are here. Take care of all yourselves out there and never forget there are those way worse off.
There's so many living like she is and I'm not too far after her. I too have worked at least 2 jobs, since I was 15, and in doing so also paid for all of my tuition and housing to get my Grad degree. The county and city restrictions are so fierce that owning land to build on a tighter budget is nearly impossible unless you are hours away from a town or city with a hospital. At least that's my experience in AZ where many come who have health issues. And now our hard earned tax dollars are paying newly arrived non-citizens to live here for free. I can't...
It’s the same here in Canada. Born Canadians, seniors, Canadian vets especially, totally neglected. Roll out the red carpet, though, for people here, with no status whatsoever, who have contributed not a dime, nor a minute of their time for our country. People are struggling. Infrastructure is not there yet they keep bringing them in by the thousands. Where are they going to live? Where are their children going to go to school? Families having to resort to using food banks. What the hell is going on?
There should be no reason why any elder has to budget so tightly or work till no more in this or any country. Thank you so much for sharing Lindy. You’re doing a great job!💖
Agree! Government priorities are wacko! We send billions upon billions in foreign aid and expect our own seniors to live on a ridiculously unlivable wage. These are people that worked and paid taxes entire lives. They deserve better.
Yes but unfortunately that's the world we live in and that's why we need community to help each other out that's why I suggested the amazon wish list she can list her wants not just her needs and those who can help out hopefully will
How kind you are. Yes the ppl of the world are so deceived by American propaganda. All the immigrants coming here are getting a rude awakening yet they are getting a free ride especially compared to Americans. God bless you and share the video. Thank you and God Bless.
I was 77 in April. I live on 1300 a month. I made the choice to sell my car and use public transportation. I cancelled two of my three cards but I never use and keep as a cushion. Cell is free as obviously am low income. My apartment is a one bedroom in a senior complex that is income based. It is safe the people get along well. I made sacrifices along this journey. It has humbled me making me appreciate what I have. I eat well. Grow my basil, rosemary and thyme. Eat oatmeal and 1/3 banana breakfast. Lunch is either yogurt and a fresh fruit or salad. Dinner is pasta, meat or fish, fresh veggies. Only can goods are tomatoes. I dont drink coffee but am addicted to peach iced tea. I don't eat sugar, drink, smoke or do drugs. I walk 5 miles a day and am very healthy. My one splurge is a bottle of Pinot Noir a month. I eat well with fresh foods only. Large Dutch oven of various soups to enjoy and freeze for lazy days. I chicken breast in soup can be stretched for 8 meals of soup and grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. My neighbor has a Costco card and get a huge box of Kraft sliced cheese. I cut the bread to fit one slice. She get my Parmigiana cheese, butter and cottage cheese also. My grocery bill averages 165 to 225. Thanksgiving and Christmas ups the bill. But while my lifestyle has changed dramatically I am very happy and content. I buy fabric at thrift stores for almost nothing as I love to quilt. I do counted cross stitch as DMC floss is super cheap, cross stich books cost about 25 cents at the thrift stores which I had never been in before my divorce and have come to enjoy my visits. I do not have a television as I can't afford it but I do watch on my free tablet I was given Hallmark, quilt, travel and cooking shows. For everyone out there who are struggling I hope you find your way back to happiness. Now when I reflect back to what was I now see how far I have come. A very wise man said to me in a free meditation class. "Today is a new beginning and learn from yesterday."
I'm 71 n healthy thank God. I live on SS n I do small jobs such as house sitting, pet sitting, planting flower n veggie gardens for seniors that can't get around,I'm a retired RN so many times I do some nursing care( at present I care for a little girl at home on a respirator n parents had a hard time finding a nurse that felt comfortable caring for her. I work 2-3 days per week so the mom can get out n do things) Someone signed me up at our church food bank n they deliver what I want. I try to put at least $50 in my savings for emergencies such as vet visits for my 2 cats. Some months I eat better meals. I better stop now or I'll tell you my whole story. I'm so glad I found your channel as there are not too many that focus on seniors. Thank you again look forward to more of your videos Stay healthy

If you have an a estranged narcissist self loathing arrogant and disrespectful to her mom ( me ) I’d much rather live by myself than to be treated like I don’t exist. What I mean is I would much rather be non existent in her world not living with her . Being college educated with two masters degrees , which I paid for, she still knows nothing and is clueless. Unfortunately she’s been brainwashed and indoctrinated by our own educational institutions. This new generation is heading for extinction of what our country once was ( which was great and wonderful ) and lacking the appreciation of what it used to be that made it possible for them to live better lives. They are destroying it. They have no respect for their own families and especially the elderly. Those leaders in charge of our government , many of them are doing a disservice and they really don’t give a shit either. It’s all SHAMEFUL ! All of this!
I want this lovely lady to make a lot of money on UA-cam ! She deserves to live comfortably in a nice home. Let’s subscribe, like and share. I can’t believe she can’t get help from our government. They have no problem showing illegals with FREE FREE FREE whatever they need. It’s sickening!
My grandma was on social security and had bad health close to the end and all the kids and grandchildren helped her in what ever way we could and I helped her apply for food stamps....now this was back in the early 2000 's ,late 1990's , she only brought in $579 a month after working her behind off all of her life and they said they could help her with $10 a month in food stamps...CRAZY!!! I'm so thankful we all made sure she didn't go without for the rest of her life!! Sad situation when you think about how much money our government sends to help other countries, but will only allow $10 per month to help one of their own citizens!?!?
I have lived for 9 years on only my social security. I live in my home which my payment is $800/month. My utilities run about 300/month. I have a cell phone for 14/month. I spend 135/month for groceries. Like you, I'm blessed to be healthy at 73 years old. I have raised garden beds in my back yard which is wonderful. I lost my husband 33 years ago and live alone. My car is paid for and I spend less than 20/ month for insurance and about 30/month for gasoline. It can be done. It is certainly not what I expected for my retirement years, but God has a plan. I wish you all of God's blessings.
Was your husband in the military? My dad was a WW2 Army veteran. After 25 years we found out that my mom could get widows benefits. My Mom got it at 85 years old but only received back pay and one check then she passed away. She struggled all those years. Hope this helps someone
You are a strong, independent, resourceful woman. My respect to you. In my late 50's i was homeless with my two kitties & I lived in the back of my pickup & had an old canopy on it. It's amazing what a person can do when they need to. I finally got into an apartment for senior & disabled as i have a pretty messed up spine & have severe pain I deal with. Took 3 yeears but here I am no longer homeless. I wish you the best & will be praying for you, for your safety. Have you looked into the state paying for your Medicare premiums? I think it's called extra help & you might still be able to qualify even though you are over for food stamps. You have my respect but i admit that I'm angry with our selfish, greedy politicians who have no idea what real life is about.
She should be eligible for Medicaid which would pay for her co payment for Medicare. If I had a place i would take her in but I live with my son and my grandchildren. I am 72 and in bad health but he doesn’t want me in a nursing home.

I am 76 and live 90% of my life in a van. It is a choice that I prefer over living inside of four walls. Fortunately, I served 23 years in the Air Force and receive a monthly pension as well as social security. I admire you for establishing a budget and sticking to it. It's been two years since I left a home in Virginia and moved to the West Coast where most of my family lives. It is very expensive out here. You've taught me several things and I will establish those practices. Thank you. God bless and keep you safe.
Thank you for your service . I come from a long line of family that served and currently have a granddaughter in the Air Force stationed in Japan. My post in the comments may have some suggestions that you will find helpful for van living. Have a great day 😊
Lindy, my 80 yr husband and me (68-69 in August) we spend about $200 on groceries. My 40 yr old daughter is mortified when she comes over because we don’t have much in our fridge BUT, she’s feeding a family of 4. When you’re a senior you don’t eat as much and we have no problem eating the same meal 2-3 times, like a meat ball pasta meal, or tonight home made veggie pizza (some left over for lunch tomorrow). So, balancing everything out is the key, eating as nutritiously as possible. It’s all relative. We don’t eat a lot (by choice) and we tend to shop either daily or every other day so things are fresh (hence, not much food in the fridge). We have very little waste. We are also very happy. Thanks for sharing. I thought it was very brave of you to share your budget.
200 for two people is very extreme . I am watching all the extreme meal budget channels on youtube to lower my food cost. I am learning how to be more frugal.
I'm watching your video from Malaysia. I'm approaching a retirement age (I'm in my mid 50s) and living in my own house, all mortgage paid off. However, I still appreciate upon learning from your experiences; there are still valuable lessons to learn from you though our living environments are very different. All the best, may God bless you.
I’ve been living in a van on Social Security disability for six years, you just can’t live above your means, you had to choose wisely. It’s very doable and I wish you the very best of luck and I’m here for support, I said your channel. I hope to see more of you. And thank you for the inspiration💜
Was your husband in the military? You could possibly get widows benefits. My Dad was WW2 Army veteran. We didn't know my Mom could get it. We applied after my Dad was dead 25 years. My mom got 3-4 months back pay and one check then she passed away. She shruggled so bad.

When my mom & dad got divorced I was 6 my brother 9 and my mom made $6. too much to qualify for food stamps. This was in the 1960’s. She asked her boss to reduce her pay and he wouldn’t do it. But we managed and never wanted for anything!😊
I am also 76 years old, retired from teaching Kindergarten so I have a retirement that allows me to live in my home. I have utmost admiration and respect for you. You are a strong, brave, and very wise woman. God bless you!!
When you “go country,”please don’t park alone in isolated areas. It’s just not safe. You’re better off at a Pilot or Walmart parked close to the lights and front entry, close to security cameras and employees that watch the area. And if you see families with RVs or campers, ask them if they’d mind if you park overnight near them - just to feel safer. Most people will say yes without even hesitating. Use your instincts and you’ll be fine.
@@Joyces-Favorite-Art-Tutorials You need protection!! Seriously you really do. Arm yourself & secure your area. It's NOT safe especially for women alone.
Hi Lindy - sounds like we’re in the same boat dear! I’m 77, stopped working at 71, but lost my husband 2 yrs ago, and financially it’s all downhill from there, so I’m in the process of selling our home and getting ready to move in to my RV. Budgeting, sticking to it and knowing where to get some help with food is key. However chins up, there are people who are much worse off than we are, imagine living in a war zone, or being a holocaust survivor in Russia, (I try to send them a couple of bucks every now and then). So happy to meet someone else who is doing what has to be done to live a satisfying life without moaning and complaining! PS - a snicker bar on occasion is my once in a while treat 😂. Lots of love ❤
So did my parents. Untill I bougjt them a home, I tried to visit them every day till they passed. 2 weeks apart. Im still paying on their house and will soon move into it. It will take most of my social security just to live.
Thank you for sharing your situation! I'm appalled that any amount under $100 is keeping you from getting food secure. Hope this helps! Stay safe out there. I'm rooting for you 🙏!
I couldn't watch the entire video, its heartbreaking. I live in my car and see so many struggling people. I tried to return home but reaching out to family was a disaster. An older sibling told me that he didnt care if I shit in a ditch. Well, brother dear, that ship had already sailed. I do what I can for myself and do not ask anyone for help. I do not want/need judgment or pity. As the people in the so called mental health field say, it is what it is and you are a grown ass adult. Welcome to America, money is god and people are disposable trash.❤ good luck to this beautiful lady.
I’m a 71 year old widow of a disabled veteran. And I’m living on much the same budget. I eat once a day. I’m looking into van life. Just to save. And to be able to live.
8 dollars over the poverty line, so no coupons. Unbelievable. Thank you for sharing your story and experiences. Most people just can’t imagine. I hope your son helps you out from time to time. God bless you and I hope your UA-cam channel makes things easier for you.
What she says is true. You have no idea how many of us have jobs well after we have retired. Making ends meet is near impossible. Life is harder now than it has ever been for the elderly. 😔
Also Lindy I took care of my Mom. One day I was at the library and saw a pamphlet that said military widows can get $$$. So we applied with the Army and Mom got $600 extra a month. Hope this helps you and your viewers 🌹🌹🌹🌹
@@lumity238 all I know is I applied for my Mom around 2010 and she got widows military benefit. I wish I knew about it before because my Dad died 1983 and my mom could of gotten it all those years. No harm in anyone checking it out 😊
I made my bf send 5 bucks to your cash app. We dont have a lot either, but Im hoping people with more than us get inspired to send abundant compassion or even a few people sending a few dollars helps out. Thank you for sharing your story. People need their eyes opened, we cant expect the government to take care of everyone adequately we need to do it to together, when we see someone who needs something and we can easily fill the need on the spot we should just do it in the moment, making compassion the new currency basically. This lady deserves compassion❤ and help from anyone reading this who can spare it.
I did subscribe earlier today! Hope someone gives you enough to improve your life drastically as a gift. Nothing wrong with recieving compassion. And i hope your UA-cam pays well also!
There are going to be hundreds of thousands in your predicament before long and the government needs to get out in front of the problem for a change but they won't and they know seniors have no savings...GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU HEALTHY AND SAFE!
Thank you so much. Thank you for being so open. This is not just a problem in the USA. Lots of other countries that seem to be very supportive of their poor, like Canada and Great Britain, have so many homeless people who life on the edge, unable to afford housing, unable to afford food and personal items. I am 69, live in my van, have disposed of all of my belongings that were so beautiful - original art that of course could not be in the van. I don’t have the money to pay for storage space. I have only paid for a camping space twice this year. I am away from society as much as I can be, as the years of pretending not to be a little odd - I have ADHD and a very high ACE trauma score -in order to hold down jobs in critical care nursing - has burned me out. The work pension is very small - in order to work I had to take short term positions with many breaks for my mental health. And yet, I continue to work, like you, at keeping myself and the van, safe and cared for. I love my life and it sounds as though you have found much inspiration through teaching the rest of us just what is important and what can be done through a positive mindset and good management of finances. Thank you again; I’m looking forward to watching your next video. All the best!
This is absolutely heartbreaking 💔I pray this is sent to every news outlet in every state to show our disgusting government how the elderly that’s worked all their lives have to live! This is wrong in every way
I am almost 66 years old and I am blessed to have a husband who takes care of me. My Social Security alone would definitely not be enough to afford housing. My heart goes out to all the elderly who are homeless and struggling to survive. I was homeless many years ago, so I know from experience what they are going through.😪
Hi Lindy, I’m a full time rv er who is stationary right now because I’m battling cancer . I know what you mean when you say you make $8 too much to receive food stamps. same here. I make $23 too much with my SSDI. My Camper is paid off, my car is paid off so I have no debt. Thank God. It’s me and my special needs daughter. It gets intense sometimes but I’d still rather live like this than any other way. Praying you good health and great success in all you do.
This is not how life is supposed to be for our elderly population. Social Security was meant to keep older folks living under a roof, not in a van and not on the street. You are a trooper Miss Lindy! I appreciate your videos. Why is it that your son can store your food, but you cannot live with him? You seem happy and content. I hope you truly are. Please stay safe. Peace out.
It’s a shame that the elderly Americans who had husbands and children who fought for our country are so neglected, when you have people who come from other countries, never paid into SS are collecting from our country SSI more that this dear responsible lady is.
Don’t forget about citizens that never paid into SS that are getting the benefits. Look at that too. The SS is so screwed with the way they are spending the money. It’s the reason why my two kids are putting away more more into their retirement funds and not going to depend on SS when the times come for them to retire. They watch how the govt is spending the money. I hope more younger generation will realize this.
Yep, that was a back in the 80's thing, when they were giving dogs & cats credit cards. I was in so much debt back then to be so young. I haven't had one since then, & and I wish Walgreens would stop asking if I'd like to apply for one every time I go in there. If I can't pay for it right then, I don't need it.
This woman has taken responsibility for herself and her life. I admire her. I agree we do not do enough to take care of our elderly (OR our veterans). Too many folks on the dole in America.
I live on 935$ monthly. I have Medicaid. No food stamps. Some days all I eat is a couple packs of noodles. I'm 63 yrs old. This lady gives me inspiration!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For protein you can buy a can of sardines for less than 1.50. Also a can of black beans is 99 cents usually. Lots of protein. Sometimes I have that for breakfast. Sometimes with cheese or plain. And a can lasts 3 or4 portions. Always put the rest back in the fridge. Beans only last 3 to 5 days. Good luck. 😊
I saw this video by error. I was so impressed with this woman’s integrity and dignity that if I can subscribe and help her a tiny bit each month, I will. I am Canadian so some of which she speaks of is not relevant to me but nevertheless, we are both seniors in our 70’s. This is not right - to force anyone to live on $4 a day for food. Bless her.
Hello sweetheart. So many of us senior citizens are struggling with very little in the way if social security benefits while fat cat politicians are living with fat pensions and free healthcare for life. God bless you.
Hi Lindy! Just finished watching your video. You're so down to earth and just a cool person! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Very good information. Hope Marley's keeping you safe & loved and I know you treat her so sweetly. ❤️🙏 Take care. 😘
I’m a 67 yo senior woman who by the grace of Stanfords oncology doctors wrote letters to senior housing HUD so I wouldn’t be homeless while I fought cancer…I HAD 7 different types of cancer in the past ten years. I left no stone unturned as I fought hard to stay alive. I kept calling and showing up at HUD housing for seniors weekly. The county got sick of seeing me and hearing my voice plus the doctors letters helped out so much too. As a forced to retire Nurse I lost my career,my income, pretty much everything but my clothes. I fought hard to beat cancer while that anger i channeled into fighting the system for a home. Get your family doctors involved make them write letters for you as $8.00 should never be the wall to stop the help you have earned and need now as a senior. I shall say pray for you. God Bless
My husband and I live in SS. He is disabled, so I have a part time job. 8 weeks ago I had rotator cuff surgery, so I get to go back to work soon!! I miss that money! Lindy keep on keeping on!!
I’m 69 and my husband will be 76 in December. We are working on a mini bus to start traveling in. We are living on 2.5 acres right now in a tiny house. We will be married 8 years come the 18 of July. When I went on SSI at 57 I made $7.00 to much for help. I had been a truck driver over the road. I didn’t know about van life at that time. Sure wish I would have but now I do. My husband is retired out of the Navy so we are blessed. We are trying to get all of our bills paid down so if something happens to one of us we will be able to get along. I know if he goes first I will be selling everything and live in the bus. That way I can go see my girls and not be a burden to them. I pray things go well for you and would love to met you one day. I’m going to see if I can watch your videos since I just found them. God Bless you
My mom is 76 and still working full-time she was still enjoying helping her children financially. I prayed that God will give her good health and strength 💪 🙏 ❤️ because she still doesn't want to stop working because she said sss is not enough to pay bills
You have a kind son, a lovely dog, a van to live free, you are healthy(as good as possible at that age)...... You are lucky to be able to see all that you have and feel good. Most people get depressed if they don't have material wealth. Thats sad. A full heart is better I believe and necessary as everything is getting more expensive. So if I have little money but a full heart, at least I will never be depressed
Love your openness. I think videos like this are helpful for those living on SS and beyond working years; or are disabled and unable to work to supplement income. Keep Sharing ideas on budgeting and frugality. Thank you! ❤
Hello Lindy! Thank you for sharing your story. So many seniors need to hear what you have to say. I’m 79 and live alone in senior living community. My Dear husband of 52 years passed 7 years ago. Thank God he was in the military and that helps me with extra income. I took the money from selling my home and invested it for extra monthly income. I do watch all my expenses and am living comfortably for now. I am very blessed. Young people need to listen to us old folks and financial advisors on how to prepare for our golden years. Yes, it is very important to Get out of debt and have an emergency fund. God Bless you and keep you safe. ❤❤ Nana Ann
This lovely lady has a lot of common sense. It isn’t unusual for low income (social security) seniors two eat two meals a day. Fruit and raw veggies are good snacks. A lot of us grow as Much food as we can. Lots of shopping at Dollar Tree helps as well. My husband died from cancer about 3 &1/2 years ago. We went through our retirement and our savings as a result I have about another 1.6 years of debt to pay. I still work and am worried I will have high taxes as the seem to double every year. I am on Medicare but can only afford to pay for glaucoma and macular degeneration. I cannot afford anything else. My landlord has gone up twice and like everyone else I worry there a point when I have to move. America has failed the seniors, the veterans and the disabled. It is a neon light pointing to how we are are pushed aside and ignored
You are an amazing woman. I don’t know your back story but I applaud you for doing all you can to take care of yourself. We are in our 80’s now and very blessed to have a little but having to support a daughter with major heart issues going through a divorce is certainly pulling on what retirement we do have. She tried for food stamps because of lack of money and a sorry to be be X-husband doing everything he can to not support her, story to long to share, but she was denied food stamps because she was $11 over the allowed amt! Food banks are having a hard time. So many having a hard time while our GOVERNMENT officials flourish! You will get our support on UA-cam as well as I’ll share your channel. I’ll pray that it grows quickly and give you a good income and relieve some of your struggles. ❤
Honey, I'm 65 on SSI and Disability live on less than 900.00 a month, live in my 30 ft camper. I have medicare, and food assistance. I dont understand why you do not. What state are you in my dear? This is shameful. The total reason I'm in my camper, I always wanted a place to live for myself and my pets. I am the last living of my family and never had children, so its on me to take care of myself. I live in Northern Michigan and its pretty cold in the winter. Blessed that I prefer the cold to the heat & blessed with good health. You will be in my prayers. Bless you.❤
I am disabled from a car accident. I'm 20 years younger than you, but might end up living in my car in 6 months. I really appreciate this video. I'm learning a lot from this! I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you!
I am 66 and I work 60+ hours a week, 7 days a week. I have been working these hours for over 2 years. I will continue to do so until I reach 70 and then I will most likely still work a couple days a week. I will be surviving on just my s.s. I know I speak for many of my generation when I say, this is never the life I would have imagined for myself at this age.
@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 Neither did I think I would still be here. I am a 18 year colon cancer survivor who was told at that time that I was at high risk for cancer to return.
@cockyhemi-123 Our generation of women didn't have a great start as the wage inequity was huge. Back in the 70's it was $.57 to $.61 for every $1 a man earned. I know it took me years to catch up and I was lucky only because I got a government job.
I met a cashier at Walmart last week who is living in her van also. She is retiring next month for the third time. Here in Northern Michigan,, the winters are long and very cold getting a few hundred inches of snow yearly.. I can't imagine living in a van for more than the amount of time time for a good vacation. I'm praying for you to stay safe and I pray you get to travel a bit.
Only here do people work their whole lives only to have to struggle til the end for basic needs. You are a beautiful soul and thank you for sharing your world with us.
Sending you love and strength Lindy, thankyou for your spectacular videos. Here in South Australia we aged pensioners also struggle and have to limit heating and outings to manage, even still getting behind in living expenses then. I retired at 71, and would love to have kept going but not able any longer. You are like a little light in the darkness acknowledging our struggles and sharing your own, just for the short time your videos run, I hold hands with everyone out there who is doing it tough. Good for you Sister! X❤😊❤
Hi Lindy, nice to meet you! You are simply awesome. Even on an ashoestring budget, you lack nothing, not because you splurge but because you have learned to stretch out what you have❤🎉❤️
A little something to make your day a little better. Lindy you are such an amazing humble lady. Thank you for your service to your country. I appreciate you sharing your life which will help others in similar situations. Stay safe on your travels, love to you from 🇮🇪
Hi Lindy!!! I’m 54, on disability, and my rent double last year. It is supposed to go up another $400 In May when my lease is up. I do have a minivan, but it is 12 yrs old now. I am going to have to live in it do the same this year, and I am excited for it. I have questions, but I want to catch all your videos before I ask them!!!! You’re my hero! We will have to meet up!
Lindy! My Mom was telling me about your channel. Wishing you all the best from Nova Scotia. You are the sweetest and very brave. Good luck with all you do! ❤
She has a fairly strong resemblance of my momma, rest her soul. No one should be homeless in our country. Certainly not old people, children, working people, special people, veterans, disabled people, etc. Even inmates have a bed, roof, low quality food, showers, etc.
Excellent. I'm retired news reporter, and this is probably the most useful and educational video I ever watched on UA-cam. Wow. Subscribed because I hope good things happen to you. Plus found out living on SS is a challenge. Keep living and I hopefully thriving. Thank you also to Marley, hope I got right
So glad you’re posting every day and talk longer. We love the talking head you don’t think we do but the longer you talk it’s good you’re very good entertaining talking don’t think it’s boring please I watch all your videos and rewatch them to help your algorithm.
Isn’t that a kick! Work all your life and can’t get help that you need while others (we all know who) get all kinds of benefits off our sweat and tears. This country needs to start honoring the elderly, not punish them for being elderly. Love you and your courage to do this. I’m 80 and my big hope is I can still drive when I’m in the same situation. I retired but have a disabled adult son I care for.
Inspirational. I own a home and everything I make goes to bills and credit card bills. Feels like I'm on a neverending hamster wheel. Minimalist living is what I'm striving for, possibly in another country. - WW
God bless my grandparents & their 10 kids, including my mom. Dirt poor factory workers & farmers that passed down farm land to now 5 generations, 4 generations currently living on the land. If you own a patch of dirt you can live in a tent on it & it has been done!
Ms Lindy ! Oh how I admire you. I am 82, retired and blessed to live in a clean safe income based senior apparment. Can not drive any more. So I no longer have the that expense ! 😊 that gave me a raise! Am Blessed with a small pension to go with my $207.00 SS ck. I am no way complaining!! I am ver Blessed 🙏🙏 ! SHAME ON THIS COUNTRY for treating its elderly like this. All Congress members should be forced to live in a van for one year eating on only $4 a day.
Totally agree.
Yes they should!!
You mean $2, no going easy on that mob
Such a shame. Poor woman.
They would manipulate their way through. Again SHAME ON THIS COUNTRY.
You can tell a lot about a nation by how it treats its elderly.
The neighbor feller gets SS , health care, government housing, food stamps because he is a Drunk and can’t hold a job. Started 10 years ago and he about 45+- now !
POS !
It’s not a nice statement about the US for sure. Shame, people!
And it's very very young
There is a law called Elder Abuse Law. Google it please. If anyone emotionally mentally physically or financially abuses a elderly person. Can go to jail
...and the disabled.
My heart broke when you listed off what you eat.
Fellow seniors, PLEASE, let's join forces and help each other out!!

Bragging about your superior tax status does absolutely nothing more than make you look like an ass

This country should be ashamed of themselves for allowing our seniors to live in poverty. They've worked all their lives to have nothing to show for it. I am so proud to see you keep on keeping on Mrs Lindy. Gods Speed always ❤
The only shameful thing is not teaching basic finance.
It's the truth of all the crap they push you to learn in school that should be one of the most important things to learn. It should be taught in all grades in school 🚸.

They do not care! They’re too busy taking care of illegals.

Why don't you send this to congress? Choose someone you feel who cares and see what happens. Who knows. You may become a hero to many who cannot fight or fend for themselves.
Try. I wish you success.
Lindy, you’re a pearl of a girl! I’m 68 and slightly disabled and living off my social security too but even so, I have embarked upon a project to build a tiny house village for disabled, seniors, and veterans. I’m scared to death but determined to get it done. Bought the land already, saved up for it, so I’m on my way…pray for us seniors, we’re not throwaways 🙏

God bless you❤❤
Be very aware of the fires raging around the country.

What she said is true for millions of people on SS. I am 72 and also on SS and the only way you can survive if that's all you have is to have everything paid off and it's still not easy. There comes a time as you get old that it becomes very hard to continue to work as your body will not allow it anymore. Those people in the government that want to cut SS as far as the amount of money we receive should be voted out of office.
redsky, amen to your comment.
@tonyahallsexton4496 There is always someone worse off than you are.
She is lovely. There is a Bible verse that speaks of those “who lived n caves of whom the world was not worthy”. The woman is strong and courageous.
This pisses me off. If you pay into the system, you should get food stamps, if you need them. Our country is horrible how it treats its seniors.
My heart breaks for you Lindy. Your government should be ashamed of itself for being so cheap.
@@KingOFuhdid you vote in the last election? If not, STFU and sit down.

Italian right? You got me with the Parmigiana and basil

I spend 135/month for groceries. Like you, I'm blessed to be healthy at 73 years old. I have raised garden beds in my back yard which is wonderful. I lost my husband 33 years ago and live alone.

Sounds like you have your system set. Excellent. Thanks for watching.
200 for two people is very extreme . I am watching all the extreme meal budget channels on youtube to lower my food cost. I am learning how to be more frugal.

Do you stay parked? Because how can you afford your expenses and to travel on SS?

I think it's disgusting that you've been denied because of $8.00!! Seniors are treated the worst; they just want us to die, already.
Will do

I love snicker bars. I but them from the dollar store
The country does not care about us old folks. We had to sell our home and move into an RV. The USA is going to hell!

The amount we receive for food on SS is 23.00 a month. That's what she would receive if she was poverty level for one person!
Thank you for sending the lady your donation.
I've been in my rv going on 2nd year, 58 years old and physically disabled, kinda tough, but housing is just not affordable, ugh God help us ❤
As a senior, I know that we need comfort, peace, and regular nutrition. I'm sad for her two years.God bless her
This should be mandatory viewing for state, federal and local legislatures. Good for you for bringing awareness and hope to others struggling.
So many congress people skip out on sessions so they would not watch that kind of documentary.
And for young people
All seniors should qualify for low income housing....and veterans! This nation has gone to hell in my lifetime.
Not a lot of low income housing available
We need to prioritize our senior citizens…❤️🙏
Yeah I've seen this nation go downhill more and more my entire life. More corruption, and less money for war and no money for seniors.
No, instead the illegals r getting holding.
I’m a 71 year old widow of a disabled veteran. And I’m living on much the same budget. I eat once a day. I’m looking into van life. Just to save. And to be able to live.

What she says is true. You have no idea how many of us have jobs well after we have retired. Making ends meet is near impossible. Life is harder now than it has ever been for the elderly. 😔

Nope plenty of citizens of other countries would never want to live in USA
Also Lindy I took care of my Mom. One day I was at the library and saw a pamphlet that said military widows can get $$$. So we applied with the Army and Mom got $600 extra a month. Hope this helps you and your viewers 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Peace out.
I chose not to live with him.
Fair enough. So you are happy and content, I assume. Just be safe out there!@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428
❤
It’s a Disgrace
I chopped up the credit cards 17 years ago and tell everyone to do the same. you will see how sense that makes once you chop them up.

It is shameful what we are doing to our elderly. Excellent video, thank you.
I wish the cities or state would make more safe parking areas designated for the homeless.

Good luck. 😊
I would be blessed if I could get a van/rv. I just don't have the means. Raising my granddaughter on my SSDI gets pretty tricky. Bless this lady

God Bless
Thanks! Bless you young lady!❤

I’m 69 and my husband will be 76 in December. We are working on a mini bus to start traveling in. We are living on 2.5 acres right now in a tiny house. We will be married 8 years come the 18 of July. My husband is retired out of the Navy so we are blessed. We are trying to get all of our bills paid down so if something happens to one of us we will be able to get along. Much food as we can. Lots of shopping at Dollar Tree helps as well. My husband died from cancer about 3 &1/2 years ago. @cockyhemi-123 Our generation of women didn't have a great start as the wage inequity was huge. Back in the 70's it was $.57 to $.61 for every $1 a man earned. I know it took me years to catch up and I was lucky only because I got a government job.
