Beautiful colors are a bloomin’ all over that tile! I’ve been adverse to certain bright colors but when used with other simpatico colors (as I call them), I’m finding I’m not so adverse. I’d love to see more of a combo bloom with a hairdryer technique. I can’t use my mouth for physical reasons so must use a dryer. Looking forward to what you create with that and many others. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art. ❤️
Thanks so much Alice💕, the next creation on the serving tray I use a hair dryer… after the first one I learned my limitations! Yeah, I am usually drawn to the earth tone palette, but I think the fall colors have crawled into my blood! And the colors have to work, to me color palette and composition …and consistency are the most important, guess I’ll dub that the 3Cs!
That’s a great name, the 3Cs, as you’re absolutely right about the importance of those. Great teaching tool; folks will take that suggestion and pass it on when they discover IT WORKS! 👍🏼
Thank you Beverly💙💛, yeah, my American Floetrol sale recipe works like a champ every time. I have a video of how I create it. It’s 141 here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/2x6yfKlcqVM/v-deo.html
Im in the UK and do blooms. You dont need floetrol. Mix paints as you usually would for the colours. Your cell activator works just as well with plain old paint and water. Youre welcome! It is all down to consistency.
I see it's been a year since you posted yet I have to comment. Oh those colors !!!!! I love them. You inspire me, you truly do. I just recently got into this type of art this past year. I've discovered so much here on UA-cam, yup it's a learning place if you want it to be. Lol, even fixed my furnace and water heater with the help of UA-cam. I'd too would like to do coasters, yet as a gift for loved ones. Is there a specific place you purchase your blank ones?
Hi Iris and welcome back… I’ve been here and hopefully I’ve gotten better. Yes I get my blanks from Home Depot in a package of either 80 or 100 for about $15. If you live near a floor and decor, they have them as well and it’s even less expensive. You can check out my bloom coaster and get all kinds of ideas about coasters. Thank you for coming back and leaving your comments.!!!
Hello :0) So, is the minwax wood conditioner used in your cell activator NOT the polyacrylic one? I used the wood conditioner water based one in my cell activator along with american floetrol and amsterdam white or black and I don't get cells. I have my cell activator also thinner than my colored paints. Should I use instead the polyacrylic one with the american floetrol and amsterdam to get the cells going? Thank you so much for your videos and knowledge on acrylic pouring. :) Louise! I found your video on how to mix up your cell activator :) ua-cam.com/video/2x6yfKlcqVM/v-deo.html I'm going to adjust my drops of the "wood conditioner" in my activator. I was only using like 7-8 drops and consistency was fine, just not enough minwax.
Hi Coby, YES for my cell activator, I use the Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner, there is no item number on it, but the barcode is number 27426 61500. This recipe works great with the other components I use. I’m not sure how many grams of cell activator you’re putting 7-8 drops in, but since you’ve seen my video, you know there’s about 20 drops for about 25 g of cell activator. So depending on how big your batches adjust accordingly, but you probably need more of the wood conditioner. You’ll see it have an effect on the cell activator because it will start to pull away from the sides of the cup , like it’s repelling. I’m no scientist, but I think that’s what causes the cells to form. And yes, your cell activator should be the thinnest of the three components. Your paints should be next thickest and your pillow should be the thickest. In video 140 I show how I make my pouring medium and mix my paints, but all three components have to be working in sync with each other and you have to have a good blow out as well.
