Not at all.. Every fuel knoe that by far the largest part of the cost of an EV is in the battery. Battery pack prices came down by 15% just between Jan and October last year, and that doesn't even include the improvements in performance of those batteries. Nor should you expect the prices of EVs to remain stable, industry experts expect battery pack prices to continue to nosedive, and that their performance will continue to improve.Currently, LFP batteries are getting near to the performance of LMC batteries of only 2 years ago, and LMC batteries continue to improve even over that standard. Of course, none of this takes into account SAIC's SS batteries, BYD's short batteries or CATL's CM (condensed Matter) batteries, all of which are likely to put significant pressure on the "traditional" LMC and LFP battery prices.
Over here in the UK an EV costs on average £10.000 more than the equivalent ICE car. Who's going to stump up another 10.000 for a vehicle waiting for hours for it to charge up, and then find out it costs more than fuel.😢
Too much unnecessary technology, too much weight, too much money. They're all dampening sales. Market saturation - we had to hit that point sooner or later. Here we are. Outside of the very wealthy, not many people are buying every two or three years. Entry-level buyers can barely afford a decent used vehicle. Warranty versus payment schedule - how many new car buyers want to be making payments after their warranty expires? Vehicle choice - do you want a big, heavy pickup truck or a big, heavy SUV? Manufacturers have decided what buyers want, and that's why lots are packed with pickups and SUVs that have been there for months. If America won't make cars anymore, the overseas manufacturers will.
I saw this old truck from the 50s/60s standing outside a supermarket as a prop this afternoon and thought to myself, why didn't they just stick to those designs. Most car designs today are so ugly.
I won't have a ev , I just sold my beloved jag because the government wants to charge me £735 a year just to put it on the road . The fact I only done 2500 thousand miles a year , I refuse to supplement their crazy spending & giving it to every Muhammed that asks for. it
My insurance wasn't the problem , it was my road tax , I wouldn't mind if it was doing some good but mad milliband is pissing it all over Africa, lammy giving to killers . The rest of them are all on jollies & holidays at our expense. I'm not willing to help pay for it . The first thing any goverment do is ho after the motorist , not the criminals not the illegals us the tax payers everyone else gets a free ride ....sorry had my rant now , no I'm not feeling better .
@@mrdflash2127 . . . Right. And for THAT he lost his "beloved jag"! Hey, the government has to recoup the money it doles out to "every Muhammed", don't they? Why not tax Jags?
I have seen on other channels that Stantis is forcing dealers to offer 35% off lot cars to get cars to sell. But this only seems to be an incentive in the US, as Canadian dealers still have cars marked high. In Canada, pricing is further augmented because the government has been unable to rein in its budget spending and has devalued the dollar further against the US counterpart. Canadians cannot afford US goods because of the floundering exchange, further widening the affordability gap. This is all due to the Liberal party, which has a massive spending problem, regardless of who their leader is. The entire party must be reset and return to working with the voters rather than using them as their cash cow.
Most people don't want EV's because they are useless and expensive. As for combustion luxury cars, people are not buying them right now because there is a cost of living right now and even though I'm a massive petrolhead, today's combustion vehicles are too technical and far too expensive plus they have reliability issue.
@@dragondescendant1 No they don't. Have you been to a Chinese car dealership e.g. BYD, MG or Omoda. Their dealers forecourt is full of brand new Chinese EV's no one want, so the dealers are forced to sell them at a huge lost.
Do what I did bought a Triumph Spitfire! 3 fuses for the complete wiring system. (My last Jag had over 200)no car tax, no MOT needed, historic as it raced at LeMans, you can sit on the front wheel and change the radiator ( if you ever need to) in half an hour. Refil the gear box from the drivers seat. Amazing fun car.
After paying $2,000 to install a charging system in your garage . . . If you HAVE one. What about apartment dwellers who park under a covered car port? Can anyone imagine going to a charging station and spending an hour or two waiting for your battery to recharge? How about commuters who drive to the train station in Greenwich CT in a $50,000 EV, park it, take the train in to NYC, return on the train and drive to an apartment with no charging station. Then, take a valuable Saturday morning . . . . EVERY SINGLE WEEK . . . to go to a charging station, in the middle of a cold and snowy winter, and sit in your car for two hours waiting for it to charge? . . . . . . . I for one can't imagine that.
The reason that the EV market is "highly competitive" as they put it , is because the competition is for an ever shrinking pool of potential buyers . Most car buyers have wised up and no longer consider a BEV as a practical option . Even current BEV owners are promising to buy their next car from a different category . ICE or maybe Hybrid , but no more full electrics .
In the UK it's not so much about what won't sell as what dealerships won't sell. Here they're mandated to sell 22% of total sales as EV's. We ordered a new ICE car in August 2023, no delivery update until first week in January, then it suddenly materialised. Same happened towards the end if 2024, but now dealership have to sell 26% as EV's.
Those who need an SUV don't need a lot of unnecessary luxury, if you live in the countryside or sparsely populated areas you want as little as possible that can break.
This is NOT a "Jeep" . . . A Jeep is a 4X4 that is intended to go off road. This is just another luxury SUV. Why does it even have the Jeep logo on it? It simply denigrates the logo and the vehicle.
I think the luxury end of both petrol and electic are becoming dead zones. Cost of living has hit all levels of workers so few view luxury as desirable. And what is that 16 mpg in this day and age?
If the auto industry ever wants to sell a car to me, or others like me, they will have to remove the digital and connectivity technology built into their products. Automobiles record and store information such as breaking, steering, and acceleration actions, personal information, mileage, locations visited, and when. Bring back vehicles where the computers only manage the engine and transmission with no internet connectivity. Remote access or driverless features?Never. We should not need a laptop computer to repair a car. I drive a 2003 Ford for these and other reasons and will continue to do so as long as problems that come up can be fixed. It doesn't matter if manufacturers stop supporting older vehicles because the aftermarket parts market is huge. Make cars that do NOT track owners and I might come back, but only if build quality does.
People aren’t buying EVs primarily because they’re not as convenient as ICE cars, add the high price too and people just can’t afford them and to be honest you would be nuts to buy one and if you are then just lease it as you can then just hand it back when battery dies after 2 years.
I find mine is far more convenient than an ICE car. And if the battery had died after 2 years then it would have been replaced free of charge by the manufacturer - they all have at least 8 years of warranty.
Not sure when you are talking about “market supply” which is the time period it takes your car to arrive from order to dealer, you describe this as “cars lingering on lots” which is precisely the opposite situation where there is an over-supply of cars nobody wants. The point you are making is that the long delivery time deters buyers, not that there is a glut of cars that aren’t selling in which case the market supply time would be 1 day.
Government interference is designed to kill private ownership of cars, and that just isn't American. No one voted for it, so Trump needs to come out for private car ownership.
If they lower the cost back down and charge a reasonable monthly payment not lease, They would sell. No one wants super expensive when our paycheck doesn’t spell expensive. No one has 500 hundred dollars to spend per month on a car unless your working a high profile job making 100,000 per year. Stop overpricing cars. Make them affordable.
Personally, I really like the Audi Q8, but there's no way I will pay $80K plus for that. Audi is doing poorly in ALL their sectors because they have gotten way too expensive. They thought that by pricing them as IF you get a solid gold spare wheel rim with it, people would continue buying their vehicles. Well, that did not work out too well for them. Now they are paying the price. I own a 22 SQ5 which I bought "used" with 10K miles on it, at almost HALF the new price. I really like my Audi - and that's the only way I would buy an Audi - "used" - after the first owner (fool) lost a ton of money on it.
Just bought a new small ice suv, 7 years warranty. This car will be my last car to buy and last me until I die or I have to stop driving. Hopefully I will die before I have to stop driving. Getting up in age but still enjoy driving.
Those massive glorified trucks called SUVs consume a lot of fuel to run, and when overpriced, few will buy them and they deserve to disappear. EVs probably fit in short city commutes, but are not suitable for longer range driving. While nobody wants to talk about the cost of replacing their battery when time comes, that is significant for depreciation, so the future prospect of trading them for a newer model seems bleak. Virtue signaling with EVs is over.

They are making purchasing a New vehicle difficult when many people on welfare and unemployment and street corners begging to purchase a 1/3 higher priced vehicle than last year. Some one should explain basic Math to the politicians. Wife says SS increased this month,so did Medical coverage ,car insurance, eggs, bread, gas, taxes, city taxes , so SS increase didn’t amount to to a damn thing ,thanks so much.

With hydrogen motors coming soon, with their numerous advantages over EVs, I think that the only way forward for EV manufacturers is to offer them on a "No Deposit, Monthly Lease payment" geared to their expected battery life. When the battery 'dies', the vehicle is returned to the manufacturer and the lease is cancelled for no cost. This way, people won't lose a ton of money when they try to sell it as a used vehicle.
Corporate greed...... everybody wants to be a billionaire. Now add in apple car play and soon you will have monthly fees for every option. Money, money, and more money.
