Yellow genetically modified corn from the state of Illinois lmao! You are funny 😄 😆! I’ve been to a La Michoacána in Chicago off of Pilsin (is it maybe the same one?) Keep your head up guys! Sometimes what we consider a big loss or disappointment is actually a blessing in disguise. I speak of this first hand- after being part of layoffs in the past and then finding new opportunities and myself blessed with a completely new life and circumstances a year later. Go through the motions, feel the feelings- in this case the cycle of grief since losing a job is still a loss and almost like a death- but keep fighting and working towards your dream life. You both are so talented and original thinkers and have so much to offer the world 🌎 (not just the US or Mexico)! Sending blessings and positive energy your way!

it's ironic that the anti-science crowd has taken such an anti-GMO stance which many ignorant folk have latched onto. (Ecuador has bought into this ideology) yet, GMOs have boosted agricultural output globally & increased shelf-life, helping to feed the ever increasing world population.

It nice to hear you guys are in Chicago, however, you guys started a new life in Mexico. You guys own a piece of land in Puerto Escondido, and all of this in just 3 years, the oportunidad is right there, for you guys, i know, We have the greatest food in Chicago, 6 months of cold weather, pero in Mexico, always sunny, nice people, and the opportunity to own a business in Puerto Escondido.
You guys are really young, and the sky is the limit.
It takes guts to start a new life in a different country and you guys have taken that chance, Dont give up, go back to Mexico and finish you project.

My inlaws have 3 shoe factories in Beautiful Morelia, and I can't forget what one of them told me
Son, when I started my business 30 years ago, I started from zero, now I am a millionaire, he had ten family members, he gave each one of them a residence in Morelia, including me.
And my point is this, don't give up,
Life in the USA, has become very hard, the weather in chicago is terrible and the lifestyle in the windy city is not something you want to end up with.
      Think twice about you decisions,

Havent moved to Mexico yet and Chicago will always be home no matter how fucked up it is here but like you, my heart is in Mexico. Every time I go down my heart swells with joy and when the plane is going down the runway, i just want to break down and cry. Next trip is in April for a month! I think after this trip u already know--Jenny said it, Chicago and your family will always be there, but u took a wild risk 3 years ago and have had am amazing time, living out your dreams, having adventures and yes, some setbacks too! Pero asi es la vida. Stay in Mexico thru your lease in August and a little longer. Unless u have an amazing job back in Chicago, I really think you would regret moving back after everything u have been able to experience in Mexico! Loved this video as we share a love for Chicago. My Mom is 4th generation Polish American so our family has roots there to 1881. But we dont live there, we live in Birmingham, Alabama so we vacation there every year. So many things to love. We try to have some touchstone places we always go (ie. The Web Pub on Webster and Seel ey as our family owned that tavern, StaroPolska, Red Apple, Kaufmans Jewish Deli in Skokie, Hagan's on Montrose, Weber's Bakery on Archer and a ton more. Hard to beat Chicago for food.

You guys grew up in Chicago so I totally understand wanting Chicago food. I will say regarding the yogurt with fruit, if you want to see where that started go to a place in Mexico City called el mercado de San Juan Arcos de Belen (downtown right next to Salto del Agua station) and go to the stall called Fuentes de sodas Lupitas and ask for a Escamocha. An escamocha is the origin of all the yogurt fruit drinks you see in the USA. It costs like 100 pesos, which is 6 USD but it is HUGE.

I am Chicagoan by birth. Born in 1977 at what is Rush Presbyterian St Luke's on Chicago's West Side. My mother, father, and sister still call Chicago home. Me, I am in Mesa Arizona...my wife of 20 years is from Vietnam.
Much as I feel nostalgic when I come back to Chicago to spend time with my parents and sister, I really ultimately feel out of place there. I can only manage to be in Chicago for a whole week before I start getting on people's nerves...and vice versa. Also, I start seeing my wife depressed in Chicago (she really feels out of place in Chicago). My wife is Vietnamese and I am Indian background. Note, my wife doesn't like snow.
Anyway, right now for the last 13 years, Mesa Arizona and Phoenix Arizona has worked out for my wife and I.
We have traveled to Mexico and Latin America many times. We like Mexico, and want to see more. We probably will ultimately relocate outside the USA in the next 5 years or so. The places we are considering are:
    Puebla Mexico
    Philippines
    Vietnam
    Thailand
We will see. All that I know is we are taking our time, researching and scouting out places. We also want to make sure we are ready before we do it. The question for us is NOT if, but WHEN will we do it?
We have both come to the conclusion that the USA is no place for older people. Ultimately, you do what you want to do. Go where you are treated best.
Maybe you should start your own business somewhere. Mexico is perfect. You are established there.

Mmmmm- I love Johnny's Beef and Bodhi. Pink Owl is so cute-is that where Crepe Culichi was before it moved? I hope all works out for you in Mexico (just returned from there last night), but if not, Chicago is a solid plan B. So win-win? Suerte!

Love you guys & no I don't think you should move back to Chicago. If you really can't decide then write down the pros & cons it will open your eyes. Also you are stuck in Mexico City for now so use that time to see if there are other opportunities that you could potentially do. I believe your heart is in Mexico & you should follow your heart. I have never given up on moving to Latin America though Mexico for now is out of my league due to residency requirements but I have committed to a course that I have been doing for the last 3 months & nearly certified. The course was not cheap but they offered a payment plan which I paying off monthly as I am on benefits. I got it for 50% reduction which was 2K & I have just committed to going further for another 5k. I have never done this in my life as I have always been too scared but I know it is right & it will take me to Central America hopefully sooner rather than later. You both have youth on your side & I turned 60 last September & I am giving it all up to leave England hopefully & not to return as I have nothing here....I am so excited. Carpe Diem, you will not regret it. What you will regret is giving up & you have gone through so much & you are still here. Big hugs guys.X

So what's the plan with the property in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca? We ask because im a native of Oaxaca but have lived in Nebrask since I was 3 and have married a Nebraska girl. We are going to build a house in my home town which is 2 hours away from Puerto. We understand 100% the difference in food from Mexico from the U.S. let alone Nebraska... the midwest which is the center of the U.S. best beef, greens ect. We are team pineapple but of the upside down kind ;). We make as a couple around 150k a year being a RN and Police Officer in Nebraska so make the conversion in Chicago. Middle class is all and thatd be hard to give up but the purity and stress free lifestyle of Oaxaca is on another level. Planning to build a foundation for our kids to live in Mex instead of USA. Apart from the fact that the economy is not the same as it was when my parents migrated to U.S. currently at a 16.5 usd exchange rate if the dollar dropped to $13 pesos a dollar my parents say the migration wouldnt be worth it compared to what it was in the 80s.

It seems like you both love Thailand and love Thai food (Just eating local street food regularly would save you money). Explore that more maybe. If you can find remote work in the US that is at night, or teach English, maybe even Spanish there, you could do it. There are UA-cam videos on it. It is much cheaper to live in Bangkok or Chiang Mai than Mexico City. Money saved is money earned... Just an idea, I love your content. Wishing you all the best. Safe travels.

Don't say Chicago if you spent your whole video in Berwyn 👎

Nobody outside of Illinois recognizes Berwyn or Cicero so it's fine to say Chicago for me.

Chicago is one, if not the top, eating city in the US. EVERYTHING is so good! Just avoid the tourist trap places and go where the locals go.

It's definitely a top foodie city in the US! New Orleans is another good one.

I will be in CDMX Mar. 10-17. Would you be willing to sublet your apartment?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  10 місяців тому

We would but our condo building is strict and they have onsite staff who’d quickly stop us from doing so

Hi there you're a lovely couple full of energy, why don't you consider a tour around the world, it will bring you more subscribers and business on UA-cam and social media, earning more money I guess. Regards Joseph

Hey Joseph, it’s definitely tempting to just pick up and travel the world. It’s something we do think about often! We could still do it. One down side is that our channel performance went down while we were in Colombia and we worry about that happening again. Seems like most of our viewers watch us for Mexico content and aren’t as interested in other countries

@@EatBailaTravel Well I think you should focus on content e.g. your cruise videos were excellent, and I am viewing you from the tiny island of Malta which is in Europe so you have the potential to expand your audience I think. Further, do you guys speak Spanish? if yes you can make some in Spanish too with English subtitles :-) Habla Espanol? These are my humble ideas or better what I will do in your place.
