About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

Looks like A real work of ART!!!!
Thank you so much!
I love the variety on your channel, man. The videos where you talk about every step and explain really thoroughly and the videos like this where you just let to process speak for itself. And that's just the knife content, all of your stuff is great and a pleasure to watch. I hope you keep doing what you're doing. You're a fantastic inspiration and teacher.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate hearing that! Thank you🙏
I love what you said in this video.
Also this is the first I have seen you using the blade vice since moving out of the container.
Hahaha! Yeah i actually broke the bolt on the cam lock and hadn’t gotten around to fixing it. Glad to have it back in action. 👍
Clean, beautiful, wish my knives were like that!
The time and hard work you put into those pieces is just astonishing and they look beautiful well done!!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that.
That is one beautiful blade my hat off to you.
Thank you so much!
Your detailing is so on point you don't miss nothing.
Turned out awesome!! That bevel finish looks amazing, and that wood is stunning.
Thanks Nathan! I really do appreciate it buddy! 👍
Another gorgeous knife.
From my own sailing experience, I would recommend a lanyard hole. I would really hate to lose a knife as good as that.
Working on boats I have dropped a knife and a cell phone from the top of a mast, both bounced and disappeared into the oggin. I have also lost at different times a leatherman and a cell phone boarding from a dinghy.
Various other tools and odds and sods have gone in the same direction and that's only the stuff I have lost.
I am sitting here on a Friday night drinking a glass of scotch, and thinking how does one get this talent? I can't even screw in a light bulb. All I can say is cheers! You are one of the finest craftsman I have ever seen! God bless!
Thank you so much, I appreciate that 🙏👍
Thats one slick chopper.
That was beautiful, i love the perfection
Thank you very much!
Yet again another great craftsmanship and product out of his shop.
The flattening vice is genius .Must make one
The colors in that handle were awesome. I especially liked the thin black lines next to the blade. You are truly an artist. 😁
After watching several of your videos I've come to the conclusion that I definitely have got to get me a bandsaw.
They are super handy 👍
Another great reason to have a grinder that will run horizontally- being able to see what is coming off when grinding the palm swell has gotta be so much easier than running vertical. Awesome knife and vids man. Keep it up! 👍🏻
Great surface contrast on the blade.
When it's right it's right...and this sir is right!
Very beautiful and excellent . hope you are well
Thank you so much! I hope you are well also. Cheers 👍
So relaxing to see a master of their craft. Sharpest knives on yt!
I love your videos, you seem like a really humble kinda guy. Your knives are awesome & you do a lot of cool things I’ve never seen before. I’ve been making handmade & custom knives for about 5 years now, it’s always very interesting watching other makers/it’s better the TV..
Excellent work! It looks amazing
Thank you!
This is a sweet knife. Kudos!
Thank you!
I have saved this video to my playlist United We Stand UA-camrs look forward to hear from you God bless bye for now Ken keep up the great work
You did a wonderful job in your knife. I love your knife jig with the golf balls handles. I've got to make one myself. I just keep putting if off and just use a 2by4 and clamps. Ya I better make the time. Thanks for sharing your video. Simply done
Well, that approach to "vacuum forging" is definitely a lot safer and less messy than how I did it. Since I have a gas forge and no temp controlled oven, my only option was the salt bath. I quickly learned that molten salt does not like it when you suddenly introduce a cold piece of steel; it spatters all over the place. Warming up the steel first, and slowly lowering it into the salt helps though.
Man, I really like that knife. Very nice looking!
Thank you very much! I appreciated it. 👍
Супер. Нет слов. 👍👍👍🤘🏻Работа шикарная

@@Simplelittlelife still waiting to see if you can make the ultimate electricians knife
Great video thanks for sharing.
Amazing
Why was the screen on the oven blurred out? Are your heat treat temps secret?
My question exactly.
It very well could be his own trade secret. Something to help distinguish him from the rest of the knife makers in the world.
Ahh, I don't know enough to have secrets yet lol.
Usually, it leads to a bunch of argumentative comments telling me I'm wrong. I'd rather avoid those comments altogether 😆👍
@@Simplelittlelife I understand completely, absolutely love your videos. Best on the net in my opinion.
Awesome..!!
I've many questions! Great video, so enjoyable and relaxing to watch.
1) What happens at 7:55?
2) Why drill out so much of the handle? Just for weight?
3) Why did you clamp after the oven?
Thanks!!
1) Sandblasted the G-10 for better glue adhesion
2) Substantial weight saving and it creates more surface for the epoxy to bond
3) This is how this steel is hardened
In another time, you sir, would no doubt be Michelangelo’s subject of study for “The Creation Of Knife.”
How do you get that almost scale looking finish on the spine of the knife?
would love to buy one.
Duuuuudee... That's a great knife...
Thank you!
Beautiful work. What’s the purpose of the aluminum foil and the press? Is that another form of heat treatment?
Thank you! It’a stainless foil tool wrap and plate quench 👍
I went to your homestead knife site (tried) to see about purchasing your knives. It gave me a 404 page error (page not found) ... I wanted to let you know. any help on this?
super nice would like to make some of my one
and nowe some silly questions
what exactly makes it a particular boat knife?
and what exactly is the hole for?
Cyl - the lack of a super pointy tip called a warren cliff or a sheep’s foot blade so when you are rocking around on a boat there’s less chance of slipping and cutting your self. As for the hole I can’t think of a need other than aesthetics. If I was making it I would of made it a slit so it could be used as a Shackle key
Hey Jeremy, I know this video is a couple years old now and I've watched it several times, but I gotta know where to get that goon shirt. It's awesome!
Nice
Cool video, your products link doesn't seem to be working.
Thanks for your vídeo
Really nice looking sailing knife. But... What the heck is with that big hole in the blade??? I mean, I would certainly understand (and even EXPECT) to see a lanyard hole left at the butt of the handle on a sailor's knife, but the location of this hole puzzles me. It almost looks like it is intended to allow a marlinspike to be inserted through it... but WHY?
Any chance you could explain how you got the flats to have that darker colour compared to the polished bevels?
Cool knife! But why do people run angle grinders without the shield?!?!
Stunnning as usual. How about an orange or yellow scales ?? Gotta have a kydex sheath too !!
Nice 😎
Lovely job Shawn 👍 is Jeremy making the boat to go with it ? 😁
bill baggins LOL
Why did you wrap it when you put it in your oven? What does it do different than just putting it in without wrapping it in the metal?
Beautiful bade
well done great job
What kind of edge do you prefer? Convex or edge you would get from a wheel?
