Welcome to the world of Helicopters!!! I would've posted more helicopter content sooner, but when I got into flying them 3 or so years ago I realized there's no room for distractions. I've been flying A TON before and after work so I can show you guys this stuff as safely as possible. More to come but only in the right conditions. Hope you guys enjoy!

Keep it up Garrett, and fly safe my friend.

There are bottles of liquified vegetables that are loaded with extra vitamins that you can buy at your supermarket that at least have a teeny tiny bit of sugar, so it's not like you're sucking on a dung-coated piece of rotten moss from a dead stump.

I'm a former Blackhawk pilot and you're getting better training than I had in the Army. I'm jealous of your experiences. This brings back memories of being absolutely exhausted after each training flight. It uses every muscle in your body to maintain focus and control. When he took over and told you to take a rest, I knew that feeling all too well. You're doing great

    • @jjrise
      @jjrise Рік тому +23

yep! I'll never forget that exhaustion during hover operations / training. It physically requires almost no effort, but you will feel more physically and mentally exhausted when you're done with that flight than just about anything.

I have a lot of respect for Garrett’s attitude tbh. Just the idea that he wasn’t immediately blasting all the aviation stuff all over UA-cam the second he got a helicopter, speaks a lot to his humility imo. The content he’s been making with the planes and such has been a lot of fun to watch because of that attitude. Seems like a really good example of how you can be confident and successful without being arrogant and turning off the rest of us by doing things most of us can’t afford to do. Classy as hell. His kid is going to have a riot growing up with him for a father.

You being a pilot. Would know he has to. You can lose your quals and license pretty quickly if the FAA gets wind of unsafe actions. Not only that the trainer also can lose theirs. 10 seconds of stupid. Can cause a lifetime of harm. There’s a reason it’s very difficult to get civilian qualifications to fly. And remain flying. Not just financial burden either. I’m a rotary pilot through and through. I love these videos. You guys can keep your fixed wings.

Let's take a moment to look back. Not long ago ol' Cleeter was putting whistles in his exhaust. Not long after that he was racing cars he knew nothing about. Honestly, the reason I became a fan and told everyone I know to subscribe was because Cleetus knew nothing about cars.
Now think about *everything* he has learned. Amazing amounts of knowledge on a very diversified set of subjects.
I have *always* been impressed with his marketing and business skills while watching him learn and mature.
Now lets give him credit for his amazing ability to drive anything. I was truly blown away that anyone could become competitive jet boat racing on their first try.
In summary, I think Garrett diserves everything he has worked so hard for, and I am honored to be a OG Cleetus subscriber!
Oh, the entire crew, family, friends and his support team ... All #1.

Incredible teacher there, he made the whole thing fun for Cleet, and thats not trying to understate the fact Garrett has incredible talent which i can tell he still goes away in the background and practices away from the internet. I was saying to my wife the concentration required to hover while hanging out the door, Cleet would get out of the Heli (I still call them a Hughes 500 even though they dont exist anymore and this is a newer Mcdonall Douglas 530F) saying he felt like he just walked up a mountain all the muscles would be that tight.
I was born in New Zealand and saw the old WWII warbird airshows where they'd use a Hughes 500D and pretend theyd picked up someones caravan saying it was blocking a gate, theyd fly infront of the crowd and drop it from 150ft and crowd watch it shatter into a pile on the ground. I was fully expecting this old airshow trick to spell the end of the Jetboat, so I was actually more impressed they didnt pull that old stunt and actually did put it back on the trailer.... Again, massive respect to Garretts abilities and even bigger respect to the team teaching you. ( I actually loved the lesson on stopping the pendulum - handy to know if you start to get into trouble near powerlines etc.)

The USAF also has some super skilled pilots. Thanks for bringing back some memories from a couple of close friends who flew in Vietnam. In their cases they were shot down bringing wounded out of a very hot LZ. One became a quadriplegic and he lost both legs from the knees down. The other guy and became a quadriplegic. Both are still alive and I was honored to be their coach in the early 80;s, Both did their rehab at the West Roxbury VA west of Boston, MA, They remain my heroes for what they endured while being stuck in their helicopter for days. I was fortunate to do my spinal cord injury rehab in BU Medical Center in Boston. I broke my back following an off road motorcycle that left me a paraplegic. Great memories and a little sadness Clete, Keep refining those fine motor skills as a pilot. Repetition of perfect motor skill activities will ingrain in your brain over time and then you will ask yourself, why was it so hard? Keep it up with practice because it just might save your life.

All tense and overcorrecting at first, but at the end you were getting relaxed and letting the machine do the work. All the while your IP was getting comfortable with you. Long lining is very difficult. Throw in wind, rain, night, high tension wires and the like and it is amazing what these pros can do. As a retired IP I am in awe of what the MD series is doing out there in the working world and the pilots flying them.

I've been in the heavy commercial industrial hvac business basically my entire life.
We use a company 5 star helicopter service outta Royce City, Texas just northeast of Dallas, and I've been under Brad for hundreds of lifts since the 80's.
I have flown across the state with him to our jobsites..
I can't tell you how many times he's had my life, and many different crews life's in his talented hands, and feet.
With thousands of pounds of equipment many stories in the air, and him above us swing it in steady as if it were a empty 5 gallon bucket hitting dead in in places that you wouldn't believe unless you saw it personally.
And I'm talking sitting it in place where it will bolt into place without having to use any other mechanical equipment to finish bolting everything in place.
I'm talking dumping majority of his fue😢in order to make it happen.
We've set up to 50 plus roof top hvac units in matter of minutes compared to days worth of time and labor to do it with multiple large cranes.

Hello Cleetus, what a great video. I worked heliportable seismic for almost 20 years. We were using heliportable drills and I worked all over the world. 2,000 lb picks and elevations up to 9,000 feet. I was on the ground as a crew coordinator and I spotte the pieces as they came in. The pilots I worked with were for the most part old veitnam vets. What they could do with their helicopter was nothing short of a miracle. We flew 205's, 212's and 214's, some lamas and jet rangers. The 500 was the little one. Flew those in some awesome places. Did checkrides with kiwi pilots in Papau New Guinea up to 10,000 feet in a 206 and then death spiral to 1,000 feet. (Thats what they called it) I had an awesome life for a long time. Thanks for the memory back to those days.
