Myanmar: women fight dictatorship and discrimination on the barricades

Women wave longyis, a traditional Burmese skirt, during a protest in Sanchaung area in downtown Yangon, as they stand proud on the frontline. Female protesters lament that discrimination still exists on the barricades where they are assumed weak and sometimes told to stay back.
"Sometimes when clashes happen some people tell women to move back - so you see, even in this situation, we are struggling as women", says one woman holding a longyi skirt as a flag on International Women's Day. I
