Thanks much- your explanation of both the function and the finish were helpful because we are cosmetically changing bathroom vanity. The detail of the knob handles and one’s hand size were informative. We appreciate the time and energy that you expended bringing this to us. Greetings from Chicago

Any advice on how to properly size pull lengths with different height or width cabinets ?

Hi, Gerry. Just finishing up a kitchen design whereby I used a variety of 3 sizes throughout! There's no magic formula, however, the goal is to achieve balance and consistent scale throughout. This kitchen design is a U-shape so being consistent on all of the upper cabinets, even though they were a mix of 42"L and 30"L, was important. I went with 5 1/16"L on those. The lower cabinets in the U were a mix of cabinet doors and drawers with varying sizes and each selection reflected the owner's need to pull the handles easily (larger in length on the 24"W drawers, using 6 5/16"L pulls), and balance of the smaller cabinets (the utensil pull out was 12"W so I used a 3 3/4"L pull). For the large pantry cabinets flanking the fridge and additional areas we added (56"L), I used the largest pull of my selections at 7 9/16"L). Hopefully this example helps in understanding how I come up with sizes based on the design -- best wishes to you!

I enjoyed this video. I'm building a beach house and choosing my hardware. My kitchen cabinets are white and decided on the black hardware but, my island is a gray and I was thinking of brushed nickel there which will match my faucet which is in the island. You answered my question on " does it have to match" so thank you.

Absolutely! Mixing metals is a great way to add visual interest, the key is to repeat the finishes in the space. So if you're doing black hardware on your main cabinets, think about having your lighting fixtures have a black finish to tie it in and accessorize to repeat the brushed nickel. Cheers to beach life!
