The loco is no longer in this format (it now has a large old Petter A1 engine and hydrostatic drive), but we used a similar petrol-electric drive on our locomotive No.5 'Helen'. It is based on Colin Edmondson's 'Scamp' design. There is an explanation and some pictures on our web site at www.karenslittlerailway.co.uk/diesel-engine-no-5-helen.php (you may have to copy & paste that link) Scroll down the page until you find the 'Mechanical Modifications' section, which will hopefully give you the information you are interested in.
