I think another reason why they are productive and never miss a job is because they are truly thankful and dedicated for what they have and don't take it for granted compared to many people who take it for granted and slack because of that

All too often, "disability hiring" means low skill/low pay roles. Sure, a Walgreens will hire #PWDs at a distribution center, but what about Corporate Headquarters for professional roles? I am an autistic, award-winning graphic designer, and found it impossible to find a new job...once I lost the one I had for several years.
Going to job fairs for #PWD's, all I would find were recruiters seeking retail workers or looking to fill other low-skill jobs. When I would ask about corporate roles, such as in marketing, I would get a blank stare. It never even crossed their mind to have anyone from 'corporate' come to such an event!

It's really hard when employers have extremely low expectations to people with disabilities, regardless of education level or job skill level. I'm not going to work for 25 cents an hour or work as a slave for sub minimum wages when you have a Bachelor's Degree or higher. It doesn't matter if you're legally blind or have borderline autism or ADHD. I would have to be homeless or living on the street before I accept a job that pays 25 cents or less an hour. Even if I was homeless, I still wouldn’t do it. Talk about slavery to its finest!!! I'm not going to work for Maggie's Farm no more, according to a song by Richie Havens!!!

What about people who don’t have disabilities because they don’t get treated equally to people who have disabilities because people who have disabilities can’t get fired for the littlest reasons but if you don’t have any disabilities they can just fire you because they want to they don’t have to have a legitimate reason to fire you if you’re not disabled I agree we should treat them equally but we also shouldn’t treat them like theirs are superiors like they’re better than us that they deserve more because they’re better than usI do believe they do deserve more because they have different struggles than the average person I do believe they do deserve more because they have different struggles than the average person But we need to stop this rhetoric of saying they’re better than offset all disabled people are good employees that all disabled people will always show up to work because that is not trueJust because you’re disabled does not inherently mean you’re a good worker and I’ve been seeing that rhetoric going around for too long

And some sit n bxtch about how we sit on our ass collect a check eating bon bons yet when I graduated high school in ‘97 there was very little room to find work. After several attempts thru an agency got placed at a “peace” factory meaning I’d only receive pennies for each item. After a week of 8 hrs each day finally got first check it was around $25 not even enough to afford to live on my own nothing!!! I quit balled my eyes 👀 out, got a babysitting job that paid that & some. Eventually got on disability & section 8 finally able to live on my own. Now I’m working towards buying a house 🏡 with the aid of a first time home buyers program along WITH section 8 as part of the mortgage payments. Yea sometimes it sucks gets really boring but there’s really no way to move up & out of this situation without support or some sort of services job training “specifically for those WITH some type of disability”. Let’s be real here like ya really think 🤔 most people even care or have ANY knowledge how to work with disabled?!?? Yea sometimes daydream about working but I don’t have the support like this girl in the video NOT everyone is that lucky!!!

That's great that the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was signed and enforced. Unfortunately, the blind and visually impaired communities across the United States still faces the highest rates of unemployment, poverty and homelessness. About 70% to 83% of blind and visually impaired people are currently unemployed. Around 1 in 4 of these individuals are homeless. The ADA law has made significant impacts on certain groups but not others. Regardless of education level
and job skill level, we blind and visually impaired folks still face huge negative prejudices and stereotypes from employers when it comes to employment. You don't hire us, there will civil unrest in this country!!! When push comes to shove, we will change the system by force!!! Oh believe me, power happens in numbers. We are not going to go away or take this anymore!!! You can get abused and discriminated for so long and one day things snap!!! We're sick and tired of the systemic prejudice and oppression and racism!!! Enough is enough!!! Oh believe me, power happens in numbers!!! Black Lives Matter are fighting their fight and so are we!!!

    • @noblelies

ADA has made it harder to employers to hire people without fear of being constantly sued. It's to the point that the government has setup special employment programs for the disabled because they themselves don't want to be sued.

@@noblelies I have disabilities myself. I have worked all my life since high school and I have a Bachelor's Degree with additional education. I hope to finish my Master's Degree someday. I refused to work in one of these sheltered workshops or slave shops for sub minimum wage / slave wages. There are a lot of qualified people with disabilities who have college degrees and possess a lot of valuable skills and they constantly face deep-rooted employment discrimination. I'm not an X-felon or a criminal who can't pass the criminal background check. People with disabilities should not have to be on food stamps or public assistance or have to live in the ghetto because of prejudice employers. Section 14C of the Fair Labor Standards Act needs to be abolished because it's act of slavery and oppression. This give employers legal permission to pay people with disabilities slave wages or sub minimum wages. You can't live on sub minimum wages, when cost of living keeps going up. I have a huge problem with society when they make oppressive laws to drive certain groups into extreme poverty and homelessness. Society made these oppressive laws toward African Americans, Native Americans and they're doing this toward us disabled folks.

I went to that and it was incredibly stressful and I need to lie down every few hours due to my fibromyalgia. The training would take six to eight hours two days a week! As the way Grandmother Walton would put it, "Anyone who discriminates against someone should have their bottom scorched". There are a million reasons why we should hire those who may have disabilities. Before the pandemic hit, I used to get my coffee at Starbucks and seen a young woman who has no disability having a battle with a trash can. If they had a wheelchair bound person working there, that wheelchair bound person could even use his chair as a vice to hold the can or to even help pull the full trash bag out. When I see these talented people with disabilities hammering out an order for Walgreen's, it makes me shop the store even more.

Not everyone is that way. Sure there may be a few but the hundreds of thousands of people are really trying. I am autistic, hearing loss, and adhd. I had 5 interviews before I was hired for my first job. Worked for disney in 2016, but it took me another 5 interviews to get hired again. Employers are scared, and not willing to give us a chance. My disney internship allowed me to truly shine. Leaders believed in me and continue to make sure I succeeded in my every day shift. I tried to work towards leadership positions but I continue to be told that management isn’t good enough for me. Disney says I have a long way to go but my team told me that I can see you helping others. They are the only company that has treated me like this. Other companies, I ask what can I do to learn to prove myself but continue speechless. You have no idea what it is like to be seen as worthless for your work ethic. Sure I work a little differently but if you train me to the best you can do I will succeed. I have no social life and even coworkers are noticing how awkward I can be. But in my world acceptance is not always reciprocated. Please know that you don’t know what our everyday lives are like and don’t see the things that are a struggle for me but are like child’s play for you. I wish people could experience our lives to show how much the world is inaccessible and fighting against us like we are enemies.

Not all disabled people aren’t perfect employees why won’t people get it through their fucking heads because everyone has his belief that if you’re disabled that automatically makes you a good worker you’re always show up on time y’all won’t cause issues but that couldn’t be further from the truth because from my experience disabled workers cause more issues in the workplace some are pretty good they keep their job and don’t stray far and those are the good ones but there’s a lot of them who abuse the system to get a free money and not do any workBecause no matter how bad of an employee this person is if they have any kind of disability you can’t fire them unless it’s for a legal reason you can’t fire them because they didn’tDidn’t do a good enough job but you can fire everyone else for those reasons you can fire a normal person just because you want to put a disabled person no you can’t you have to have beyond more reason to ever be given be give If you have a legitimate reason to fire them and they go to the news they’re gonna make a big crybaby story saying that they were unjustly fired and you’ll have to bring them back to cover your assBecause I’ve heard stories about people with disabilities acting inappropriately in a workplace those people reporting it to HR and HR doing absolutely nothing about it Because apparently disabled people are allowed to sexually abuse peopleBecause they don’t know what they’re doing they’re unaware of their actions they can’t control themselves those are usually the reasons given When it happens What if those are the reasons isn’t that somebody who shouldn’t be working because if they can’t control themselves or stop them selves from doing something inappropriate maybe they shouldn’t be working in a workplace I believe there are good workers who are disabled but I believe there also are bad ones but we are ignoring those ones and giving them leniency after leniency and hurting businesses I worked with a guy who is disabled not mentally he’s disabled physically he was missing one hand and he barely did his job I believe there are good workers who are disabled but I believe there also are bad ones but we are ignoring those ones and giving them leniency after leniency and hurting businesses I worked with a guy who is disabled not mentally he’s disabled physically he was missing one hand and he barely did his job and I had to pick up the slack and everyone who worked with him on the morning shift had to pick up his slack because he was always having a smoke break and I worked at Wendy’s somewhere where you can’t take a smoke break every five minutesSo whenever there was a rush he was out having a smoke while everyone else was trying to cover his job because he can’t be fired because he has a disability and Wendy’s had to have some sort of quota for disabled people and if they fired him they would not meet that quota anymore Even though he was an employee that reduced sales reduced employee morale and just reduce productivity And the only reason I keep him is because he’s disabled maybe that’s the reason why a lot of employers are hesitant against hiring disabled people because not all of them are good workers I’d say only like 10% of them are good workers the rest of them are using the system in those kinds of disabled people hurt the ones who want to do better the ones who want to be independent but there’s so many of them that take disability as a free paycheque a free reason not to do anything and if you’re not making enough money get a job and don’t do anything there because you can’t be fired if you’re disabled I believe that we should have some special treatments with disabled people but not so far it affects everyone else Because apparently their needs are more important than the rest of society the needs of a small percentage of the society is more important than the needs of everyone else because they have more value than anyone else according to societyEven though it takes more resources assets and time to manage them and take care of them and get them into the workforce meanwhile you’re abandoning people who are fully capable of mental faculties to working because people with disabilities deserve an education more than people without Even though it takes more resources assets and time to manage them and take care of them and get them into the workforce meanwhile you’re abandoning people who are fully capable of mental faculties to working because people with disabilities deserve an education more than people withoutBecause people with disabilities deserve a job more than people without that’s the rhetoric they’re spinning that people with disabilities are inherently more valuable than everyone else and where does that put me absolutely garbage trash value because if they’re doing all these programs to help disabled people but they’re doing nothing to help regular people there doing absolutely fuck all to help regular people get into the workforce Because people with disabilities deserve a job more than people without that’s the rhetoric they’re spinning that people with disabilities are inherently more valuable than everyone else and where does that put me absolutely garbage trash value because if they’re doing all these programs to help disabled people but they’re doing nothing to help regular people they’re doing absolutely fuck all to help regular people get into the workforceBecause the only job centre places I’ve gone to don’t work they say they’ll set you up with a job they help you along but nothing ever comes along I’ve only had one person who ever got a job for one of those jobs in her things and it was temp work Because the only job centre places I’ve gone to don’t work they say they’ll set you up with a job they help you along but nothing ever comes along I’ve only had one person who ever got a job for one of those job centre things and it was temp work but I’ve seen almost every single person who is disabled and who wants to work get a job because the government and society and everything works with them to make sure that they’re ready but the I wasn’t ready I didn’t get any training I didn’t get any special treatment do I deserve it less because I’m not disabled or is it that I’m not valued because I’m not disabled Because being disabled inherently means you’re worth something Because you’re different and all the companies all the corporations in all the schools want at all the disabled people because it makes them look good Meanwhile while they’re helping at all these disabled people people who are struggling between being disabled and not disabled or lostBecause if you are between consciousness and being mentally disabled they can’t help you there not doing anything to help you because that’s me there’s something wrong with my brain in my thinking but I’m fully aware of everything that’s wrong It’s like having autism but being aware what you’re doing it’s like having autism but being aware what you’re doing is weird It’s in a constant state of panic but that don’t matter because according to society I’m not disabled and don’t deserve As a PWD who is fully functional but has a mild intellectual disorder, I can tell you that it's extremely difficult to find a job. People have lots of sympathy for noticeable disabilities like this stereotype"wheelchair". But I also have to look at both sides of the coin and the fact is, any small business employer who is making a financial decision is not going to pay a disabled person with a 50 to 70% work output (of a non disabled). What we need to do is reduce minimum wage for pwd and that would entice employers to hire them. And they know that they can afford to give them more accomodations.

Why should we hire a walking lawsuit magnet that's going to use ADA to sue us out of existence the very first day on the job?

That's the discriminatory bias we go through. I get that all the time when I walk through the door with a service dog.

noblelies No wonder why we have a huge growing homeless problem in the United States among people with disabilities. Just throw them out in the street, like they're disposable pieces of garbage. Of course, this is a population who keeps getting ignored over and over. We're not going to go away. We also have a large growing homeless encampment in my backyard and park. A lot of homeless disabled folks are now living in parks throughout my city. And it keeps growing everyday.

noblelies. Oh, us disabled folks are walking lawsuits? It’s people like you I have a problem with. You can only get abused and discriminated for so long and one day things snap!!! These companies better start hiring us disabled folks or else there will civil unrest in this country and we disabled folks are growing in numbers and joining the fight!!! We’re sick of deep-rooted systemic oppression and prejudice and hate toward us!!! Black Lives Matter are fighting their fight and so are we!!!

Thats where you are wrong. Its about keeping the Genepool clean and healthy. Stop trying to let your empathy take over. Supporting degeneration is nothing to be proud of. Are you out of your mind?
I never said kill them, im just saying that if we can prevent disabled people from being born that is a good thing for Society. Opinions may differ but that doesnt make it more beneficial or less harmful.

What you just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rationatl thought. Have a good day sir.
