Dude SaabKyle...you are amazing. While other reviewers are saying "look at this Chrysler button....ewwww" you are saying: "The new Ghibli features servo assisted hydrolic speed proportional rack&pinion power steering in this beautifully thick, hand stitched leather wrapped steering wheel with 3-spoke design, Twin-Y spoke down below, as well as subtle chrome around the air bag cover, the spokes, and the multi function controls, not to mention heavy grips up top."
This is surely one of the best reviews I'd seen, just clear, not to much personal opinions, no repeating over and over again, great job. We are planning to buy a quattroporte or GranTurismo, not sure if we want 5 or 4 seats, but it's great to reconsider some of the possibilities with just one good review, it helps a lot.
+Kyle Thompson But compared to a BMW in this price range it falls short in every aspect. Technology and Power included. And hell, I don't even like BMW's!
TheFrozenGargon This is there first time making a saloon cheaper than the Quattroporte, at the moment they are taking small baby steps to improve it, thankfully the 2017 model will have much more technology and a slight chqnge to the centre console
Liam O'Flaherty And they thought the best way to launch a car was to make it cost more than almost every BMW Sedan in the line up with less power and features? That doesn't seem like a very smart business model.
TheFrozenGargon Maserati is like Aston Martin they are expensive, slow compared to other super cars and super saloons and lack in good technology. They are made to be fun and fast (but not too fast)
What a manacing exhaust note. Even if the Ghibli is a more affordable Maserati compared to all the other models, it's still a Maserati, and every bit as aggressive and luxurious.
i have an SQ4, the exterior design is damn near perfect, but the interior is hideous, looks and feels like a chrysler, the exhaust note is extremely overrated, nothing like a ferrari like advertised, and the turbo lag is so strong the first half a second of acceleration feels like its a 150 horse power camry.
+Matthew Palanca It's a nice car compared to my Mazda, but its main competitors (Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series) are just plain better. The Ghibli doesn't have a panoramic sunroof like the E-Class does. It doesn't have adaptive cruise control like the E-class and 5-series do. It doesn't have lane keeping assistance like the E-class does. the E-Class actually has an option for massaging seats. All in all, it is a Maserati, but the more common brands have it beat in price and quality. Seriously, the Ghibli has a starting price of $66,000 whereas the 5-Series has a starting price of 50,200 and the E-Class, $52,650.
+Matthew Palanca You just answered your own question. "It's quite cheap and" "...It's a Maserati". This car is for people who want the image of looking rich but cannot afford a Maserati Quaddroporte. So, they make a cheaper, less powerful, technologyless car to sell towards the masses who are buying it just for a badge. I'm not a foreign car guy but if I had the choice, any BMW at the same price range would humiliate this vehicle.
Very much enjoyed the test drive portion and hearing your impressions, Kyle ! I wish more dealerships would be able to allow you to have a brief steer. To me personally the new Maserati design is not as appealing as what they did with their cars from a few years ago, but it will be interesting to see how much more cars they'll be able to sell now that they have smaller cars. Maybe I should try one myself...Once again compliment for the video and thanks for sharing such detailed first hand impressions !
Man,Ur doing good job presenting these high end cars. Watched most of Ur videos, this one is by far the best. Love the car...I think it's my new favorite. The problem however is, that even the basic version (Diesel) costs 129000 USD here in Finland due to our ridiculous taxes on cars. Keep up the good work :)
This is a very stylish car. When you look at it, there's no doubt that it is a Maserati, and you don't compare this car with others. A very strong design work.
Excellent video. The commentary and content is on par with some of the nationally televised production. I am considering this vehicle and found this video helpful. Keep up the excellent work!
Love to see such a luxurious 4 door! I would love to own one of this beauties, maybe one day if I get the money. Great video, as always. The test drive was very interesting, wish you could do more of those!
I've been to this dealer several times (pretty much whenever I'm in the Charlotte area), and someone is always complimenting this car. I'm pretty fond of it, personally.
Super Kyle, I am seriously considering to buy the Q4 and loved the detailed recording (too many bad copies out there, no real details, brief introductions). I am getting the car for a weekend of testing and your shots prepared me a bit on what to expect. Also the use of all the screen features, totally fitted my bill! Thank you! Keep up the good work.
The car sound and looks great.I seen it up close at the 2014 los Angeles Auto show.Maserati blows Mercedes,Audi, and Bmw out of the water. You do a great job showing us all the features of many cars.thanx a lot Saab Kyle
Good news. Thanks for telling me far more than the Maserati dealer when I test drove the Ghibli diesel and the Quattroporte petrol this last week. They both drive really well, and are very straightforward to use in simple mode. But I imagined that there would be a host of controls to amuse myself with once I had settled in. The diesel stop-start is a fabulous continental tourer at 54mpg (UK gallons) which is what I need. But then as I love my battery-electric Renault Fluence ZE for local trips, should I not get a Tesla S? Thanks for giving such great attention to details, I am amazed at the research you must do.
Michael, what's the point in buying a car from a high performance luxury italian marque if you want a diesel? Mercedes, BMW and Audi outclass this car considerably if you're a sensible person looking for a sensible, comfortable, ordinary luxury car. The petrol engines on the other hand are both twin turbo v6s designed by ferrari which produce a sound nearly as good as the jaguar f type.
I'm not sure you will have the same feeling after you've driven them. The diesel has torque, and the Maserati has charm. You don't get that combination from the rather bland German cars. Petrol engines come a distant third after electric and Diesel engines. As for the noise, in a luxury car, you don't really hear much engine sound, and that's fine with me.
I'm just going to let you know, a Maserati isn't special, nothing about it is special and the sound of it is just annoying. I do respect your opinion, but for me it's just another car. My favorite sedan rn is a Jaguar XF
UGNUG 71 i will tell you something that is special about it: it has incredible brand cachet. Say you drive a 2014 or later Maserati to any average joe and their jaw drops
Renaldo Nelson that's something that you can get with pretty much every single sports car, so that's out. Something that only Maserati gets is it's specialty
Absolutely stunning sounding exhaust, angry looking front fascia, quad exhaust, gorgeous interior, and a respectful price. Awesome car and awesome review!
I love the sound of that engine. You can hear that sound in movies from the 1960's. It's like Maserati has been careful to keep that sound. With that said, I think they may have skimped on the interior a bit. Cup holders, grip handles, visors etc, should have a more premium look in a high end car. More trim and luxury materials should be used.
Sore loser who spends huge amounts of his time posting comments on UA-cam. I know, there are people out there saying "Oh the exterior looks ugly as fuck, and the interior is too plain" Well, first of all, the exterior looks flawless, and the interior is plain, but because the Ghibli isn't made for luxury. Many people are saying "The noise is fucking awful, Maserati should take some tips from Nissan, because the 350Z is the true example of a V6 exhaust." Well, the exhaust of this car is like no other V6, and that's probably why they don't like it. The noise is just magnificent, especially for a V6. **Sorry for some of the cussing, just stating what I've seen in other comments.**
Another complete review from Kyle. Only problem I have with his reviews is, they are, (due to his relationship with the car dealerships), always very positive. I have yet to hear him mention anything negative about any of the cars he's reviewed. So, how about it Kyle? Tells us the negative points as wells as the positives, every car has some.
It is funny how everyone is saying I would have a kia or 5 series over this. There is one thing that those dont have, soul. This car sounds better than any other mid sized sedan. And (besides the back) looks better. You are mostly paying for the name, and the rarity.
Thank you Kyle.. I was actually going to send you a msg, asking if you would do one of the Ghibi.. You read my mind.. lol Always, always great work that you do. You are my go to guy to look at vehicles before I buy. Thank you for your posts...!!!
I'd happily choose this over any BMW. The 5 and 3 series BMWs are the Toyota Camrys of the auto world. You see the same black, silver or white ones 100 times a day. Maserati as a whole is different and refreshing.
Amazing in depth review. I've watched a lot of car reviews and they never have that much technical engine info with the attention to all of the interior info we crave to learn!
Hey kyle! My friend said that the grandturisimo had lots and lots of reliability problems. So I was just wondering if the Ghibli has better reliability, because I'm thinking of getting one and I don't know if a ghibli would do better than a Porsche Panamera GTS. Thanks! And keep your awesome channel going!
***** When you buy a Maserati you would expect more than that. I was also surprised with the interior in the new Quattroporte as well. It seems like Maserati can't keep up with Porsche, Mercedes, Audi or BMW.
Yes! I love your videos so helpful its like your every viewer personal dealers but so much more in depth with details and understanding of cars thanks for Intel on everything keep up the exceptional work.
Epic car. The Germans kept insisting a turbocharged motor must sound like a vacuum cleaner, but Maserati cracked it: this is the best sounding v6 turbo motor this side of f1. Sure it lacks cutting-edge tech of the German, but it trades it for exclusively & great looks. Sone may moan at the Chrysler parts here & there, but as long as the car is built by Maserati (and not say, a 300 wearing a trident badge) it doesn't bother me. Remember this is Maserati first crack at a 'affordable' sports sedan & $$ has to be saved somewhere. I'm glad it took Chrysler's rather good UConnect (vs MyFordTouch & Cadillac CUE) instead of a Hemi V8 & questionable Fiat electronics.
Hey Kyle love the videos. Only thing -- that Ghibli didn't have Skyhook, because it didn't have a damper. I know that because I test drove a Ghibli before I decided to get my '14 Quattroporte. But hey, you're videos are great!! Love them!
Rick Rao Good choice man. Black exterior with Red interior make great contrast. I would take mine in Blue with red seats. I hope you enjoy your Maserati. =)
All my feelings and expectations about Maserati can be summed in just one word: finally. Finally a brand which is a perfect synthesis of history, elegance, sportiness, prestige and world wide commercial charm is getting the apt weapons to challenge with the German, English and American proposals as to sport luxury cars. A manufacturer that until 2007 (only 7 years ago) was still in the red, now it's generating higher profits than Ferrari. Yeah. Then, after Maserati's rise it'll be time to get back on track the "Biscione"...
Hi Kyle, always love your vids (specially the italian cars ones), i'd like if you'll review more trucks/rigs, particular vehicles and why not motorbikes? Waiting for a your review of the new Quattroporte GTS, greetings from italy :)
If I want a real luxury car, I would go with just about any British import. Italians only know how to make super cars; Maseratis are just more affordable Ferraris good for daily driving.
Nicholas Lashley British and Germans make the best luxury cars. Mercedes, Maybach, Range Rover, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Rolls Royce! Italians make the best super cars/street bikes. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati and Pagani.
+Nicholas Lashley Agreed. Germans make great luxury vehicles. Italians design gorgeous vehicles but are too pompous. They do not understand that they can't push out an overpriced Sedan with no tech or performance and expect people to buy it just over a badge. Sadly enough, they do.
ruskeee look at how the edge of the bootlid on the cadenza flows consistently towards the edge of the lights, while the ghibli has a bootlid edge curved that way that is cut off, with another edge curving another way below look at how the lower edge of the lights on the cadenca gets continued by the chrome stripe below which the license plate indentation flows in from the sides, while on the ghibli that flow is broken again yes, they look similar, but the cadenca looks much more elegant than the ghibli
What Kia? To me it looks more like the back of a new Mazda3. There are no Kia resemblances and if there is, oh well? I mean the new Kia designer used to design Audi's so in a way it isn't that insulting.
Veggieburger German cars are popular and not as unique as Maserati but I wouldn't get one unless I knew I was financially able to deal with the high maintenance costs. BMW on the other hand has free maintenance/service, a great warranty, etc. I bet Maserati charges hundreds just for a simple oil change. Why would you force yourself to get a Maserati if you only want to give up $80,000 for a car? It's more logical to get a prettier and more reliable German car for the same price.
and starter button, headlamp switch, steering wheel radio buttons, and other than the colour the u-connect nav system is lifted right from the charger too.
It is simple to avoid distraction from driving. This is a driver's car just in case you did not notice. With a Ferrari motor who needs a complicated interior.I have a Grand Tourismo and I do not even listen to the radio.
Love this guy he can talk a car down to its tires gotta love that talent.
Thanks man!!

Of course it is. It's Italian ;)

Wow really nice car once again very good video and got dam that state has all the fancy cars
Maserati needs to stop playing & add that infotainment system to the Gran Turismo.
Koji Takata Maserati are working on a replacement for the Gran Turismo it's called the Alfieri
It's taking a while & I know.
Koji Takata it was meant to come out early 2016 but was pushed up to 2018 so they could produce the Levante
The wood in the car shown in this video is absolutely gorgeous!
We get the Ghibli here in Ireland.....with a shitty V6 diesel, who wants a diesel Maserati..honestly??
Yeah, but diesels are very popular in Europe due to high petrol prices, so why are you surprised?
It's actually pretty decent engine. With good mileage, long range and plenty of torque it's perfect for long trips.
you dont have to get the engine with diesel

Hi Kyle, always love your vids (specially the italian cars ones), i'd like if you'll review more trucks/rigs, particular vehicles and why not motorbikes? Waiting for a your review of the new Quattroporte GTS, greetings from italy :)
Already uploaded it, just search the channel first :)
The rear looks like a Kia, and the front looks like an Infiniti Q50. The dash looks like a Chrysler 300.
well even if, it came out well imo
Alex infiniti q50s are really good looking lol, but yeah, the rest of the car is shit.
A very detailed and technical review. Great job!
If I want a real luxury car, I would go with just about any British import. Italians only know how to make super cars; Maseratis are just more affordable Ferraris good for daily driving.
I think the Germans are the best for luxury.
Nicholas Lashley British and Germans make the best luxury cars. Mercedes, Maybach, Range Rover, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Rolls Royce! Italians make the best super cars/street bikes. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati and Pagani.
jaguars as well
+Nicholas Lashley Agreed. Germans make great luxury vehicles. Italians design gorgeous vehicles but are too pompous. They do not understand that they can't push out an overpriced Sedan with no tech or performance and expect people to buy it just over a badge.
Sadly enough, they do.
FINALLY KYLESAAB DRIVING THE CARS
Front end looks strangely similar to the new BMW 3 series
The car looks amazing. My only problem is that gap on the rear tailgate where the Maserati logo is on...
woah 45 min
thank you saabkyle for all this videos of fancy cars
That awkward moment when the back of a Maserati resembles a Kia.
please show me a kia that still has a back with such tasteless design
AnarchistMetalhead see: Kia Cadenza
ruskeee look at how the edge of the bootlid on the cadenza flows consistently towards the edge of the lights, while the ghibli has a bootlid edge curved that way that is cut off, with another edge curving another way below
look at how the lower edge of the lights on the cadenca gets continued by the chrome stripe below which the license plate indentation flows in from the sides, while on the ghibli that flow is broken again
yes, they look similar, but the cadenca looks much more elegant than the ghibli
What Kia? To me it looks more like the back of a new Mazda3. There are no Kia resemblances and if there is, oh well? I mean the new Kia designer used to design Audi's so in a way it isn't that insulting.
ruskeee
Cadenza is the copy, not Ghibli.
Its been getting pretty harsh reviews in the press. But I like it a lot!
I'd rather spend $80,000 on something more... German
Italian cars are only good when they're $200,000+ supercars
wrong
Dem0nz890 an opinion can't be wrong
richie s wrong again.
BMW and Mercedes Benz are german cars and they are the most popular luxury cars in the world and are around that price range and up
Veggieburger German cars are popular and not as unique as Maserati but I wouldn't get one unless I knew I was financially able to deal with the high maintenance costs.
One of your best reviews!
Is this the car that jason statham used in furious7 ?
yeah thats the car
Jason Statham As Mr Shaw The One Was Get A car before fight with vin Diesel As Dominic Toretto
Not
Pretty sure it was a masserati gran turismo
tbh I like this test drive camera setup better than the GoPro, much better quality.
A $75,000+ car with Chrysler window swtiches! Really, Fiat?
and starter button, headlamp switch, steering wheel radio buttons, and other than the colour the u-connect nav system is lifted right from the charger too.
This car is £21,000 now or roughly $26,000
how about a 170k Bentayga with Audi A/C switches?
The downside to economies of scale
Nice review, so many details!
It would be better if the white balance is corrected.
I see wayyy too many of these in my town now smh
Me too, being you can lease for 699 a month lol
+anaconda4290 499 a month where i live lol theres tonsss
+TheRichieRozay wow thats ridiculous. You see these everywhere now smh
+anaconda4290 yeah seriously lol
+Shoaib K yea someone down my street has one.
Oh man this Ghibli sounds and looks good.
Sexy exterior....horrible interior
the read of the car actually reminds me of a 2014 Sentra...
look at the red leather + carbon trim and attempt to tell me thats ugly
Rick Rao Interior looks too plain...nothing jumps out about it...I would take a used 08...09.. Maserati Quattroporte over a brand new Ghibli
308beatZ You need to see them in person
It is simple to avoid distraction from driving. This is a driver's car just in case you did not notice. With a Ferrari motor who needs a complicated interior.I have a Grand Tourismo and I do not even listen to the radio.
Woah dude your the best great vid man!
Front looks like an uglier bmw 3/4 series and the back looks like an infiniti.
I just noticed.
***** Lol those kidneys have me shaking in my boots. That line down the middle is sooo intimidating
But, you gotta admit, the new BMW M4 looks pretty badass.
***** 13" as in 13 inches?
I liked it because of the infiniti part, that's the first thing I thought of when looking at the car.
I like this car and the sound is just amazing!
All the cars look the same. We must check the logo to disguise which brand is. This looks like Hyundai from a block away.
UAH.. UAGHHHHHHH AHH UAGHHHHHHHHHH *fills up 50,000 sq ft mansion with throwup*
Thank you for making this, Kyle. I may be trying to aquire one. Love & blessings 🤍🙏🏻
