- Our family stayed at an oTENTik at Point Pelee National Park. An oTENTik is a cross between a cabin and a tent. It has a wooded floor and vinyl walls. Parks Canada added these oTENTiks to the park a few years ago and they are wonderful - a true glamping experience! We also climbed the new observation tower and did lots of hiking and exploring. This park is amazing I am part of caldwell first nation, I can't wait too camp here in summer 2023
It's definitely a special place
Hi there! Loved this video, thank you for sharing your experience. Wondering, how did the gas stove work (I'm so clueless) and was there a lock on the door? I'm going in a few weeks and am a bit nervous.
WOW!! They have a steel tower at the point now that was not there the only tower around was the one at the boardwalk sort of beside the parking lot and ponds. I guess I need to make a trip to the point when I lived in Leamington as a kid we use to always go to the point and I knew that place really well but since I moved I have not been there lately but I will have to make it down since they finally have some new things to check out.
You’re not missing much- the tower has been closed since 2022 but they are fixing it up.
Great to see what the oTENTik looks like. Thanks for the tour.
They’re great to stay at! Thanks for watching!
I use to camp in Camp Henry when I was in Scouts as a kid but that camp henry was torn down and the new one built. we use to do winter camping and summer camping too. I have not been there in at least 20 years and surprised that you can camp in the park now that was something that was not allowed back in the day. They have really changed the place since I was last there.
I camped there as a Girl guide- yes it’s totally different now!!
I miss point pelee. Of all the parks it has always been my favourite maybe because I went with my dad so often, and school. Camping at camp Henry lol so much fun! Love the video, thanks for sharing!
Yes, staying at camp Henry was so awesome back in the day, lol! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad to know this national park and oTENTik. I really love the 360 degree views from the observation tower. Happy day. 😊❤😊
Thanks for watching! Yes, the views from the tower are incredible!
Beautiful, you were lucky to have such a good weather.
Looks like you had fun.
Yes, thanks! It was a great weekend!
When I was a kid, the cottages in Point Pelee were sold. My uncle bought some and we helped him tear them down and he built his house with the lumber.
Fascinating history! I’m glad the wood was repurposed. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for making this video. I really wanted to find out what to bring and not bring for my camping trip this week. So looking forward staying in an oTentik. My first time!
You’re welcome! Hope you have an awesome trip!
Awesum job sarah

Hi, are there washrooms and showers nearby? For the barbecue, are the gas cylinders provided in the camp site booking?
Yes, the washrooms and showers were a short walk from our site. The barbecue had a propane tank that was provided.
So where do people do their bathroom?
Great question! There is a separate building with flush toilets, sinks, and showers that is shared by all the otentiks. It’s a short walk from the otentik.
