I honestly find Esterbrook nibs to be inconsistent. I have medium nibs that seem really fine, and a couple of medium nibs that are almost broad. So this may be one of the finer ones! So glad you got an Estie!
This is why I have never bought one, even though I’ve seen them in person and think they are really beautiful. I’ve read too many reviews about the nibs, people not getting what they expected or having other problems. The price is pretty high for a steel nib, if I’m going to spend that much, I want perfection out of the box.
@@seemownay No way!!! I'm so happy for you!! That pen is sooo gorgeous! Can't wait to hear the story! (Enough with the exclamation points, already... LOL!)
My first Estie (that I kept) was the Candy (so gorgeous!) And I have the Once in a Blue Moon on the way! My final Estie I will want I will have to hunt down eventually since it was a limited edition long since sold out. I'm loving the very interchangeable nibs!
Both of these are great choices for sure! I really like my Estie but I seem to be ok with just having the one for now. I was super tempted (but didn't because of the price) by one of the diamond cast OOKs they sold a couple weeks ago.
What a beautiful pen! I love it! I don’t recall the flow of the ink for me, but the tines are definitely close together on your Estie. I hope you can get more flow or find a wet pairing. Thanks for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋
I don’t think it has anything to do with the color of the pen. This is a medium nib and I’ll see how it goes, because I know that JoWo nibs can be wet writers. I also don’t know much about the ink.
@@seemownay LOL I know it's not to do with the color of the pen- maybe it's an Esterbrook issue or an Esterbrook feed issue. I don't know even know how to tell a JOWO nib from a Bock nib from a whatever nib.
I've only gotten Esties with custom grinds (two Journaler nibs) so I haven't had any issues with dry nibs. I'm sure the custom ground nibs are also tuned by the nibmeister.
Nice pen! I just got the same one in fine nib for Mother’s Day. The nib needed some tweaking but I was surprised by how it felt in the hand. It feels like the pen is more back weighted and would work better with a broader nib. Hoping some more writing makes me like it more. It is such a beautiful pen!
That Marshmallow looks very nice, but the price I've seen is ridiculously expensive and not worth it. I would like to try the Journaler nib on an Estie but they are hard to get since they are very popular. The Sea Glass is very pretty! 😇🧡🙏🙌
It might not be worth it for you, but for others like me, it was worth it. I just wrote with it today and it's a great pen that I do not regret buying at all.
I knew you would end up getting one! It seems like you are really attracted to broad nibs lately? I seem to be going in the opposite direction down to fine!
I’m not extremely attracted to them, but I just can’t believe that everyone else loves broad. So I’m wondering if the nibs that I had were just off. This is a medium nib also, just in case that wasn’t clear.
@@seemownay I may have misunderstood when you were comparing it to the one you borrowed. It sounded like you preferred the broad one. Also you are looking to swap your platinum for a broad, but that would then be equivalent to a medium. Hmmm. Yep, it appears I was confused! Ha!
Yeah, I won the Shape of Heart with a medium nib so now I have too. And I’ve always wondered how that particular pen would write in a broad. So I’m actually swapping with a friend who is looking for a medium. Which is super exciting!
Also: I think my medium nib on this Estie is quite dry and so having had that wet broad was such a different experience. And it also was the first broad nib I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks! I'll play a bit with the nib, I just recently got replacement nibs in most sizes so even if this doesn't work, I can swap things around.
I have a pretty juicy EF, which fortunately is exactly what I like

You got your first Estie! Congratulations! The Sea Glass looks like a good choice.
Thank you! ❤
Welcome to team Seaglass! I hope you get the nib the way you like it.
Yay, we're on the same team now!
Oh how fun! I would love to try an Estie sometime. I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see which pen you won!!
Thank you! It's a great pen to add to a collection! I won the Platinum 3776 Shape of Heart. The video is coming up next Wednesday.

@@seemownay Yes the diamond cast materials are so beautiful!!
Looks like you are going down the Esterbrook hole.. lol
Yes, absolutely!

Yes, I noticed that too. I think I'll play around a bit with the nib and see if I can make it wetter.
I have a broad estie seaglass and I would agree, it's kind of dry.

Yes, I agree, they might be specifically tuned by them so the writing experience would be perfect.

Congratulations on this awesome Mother's Day gift! I really like the feel and weight of the pen, I hope you fall in love with your pen!
I loved this color but it was too close to my Leonardo Momento Giada (jade) but then Esterbrook came out with Botanical Gardens - score!
That's a win, the Botanical Gardens is a beautiful design as well!
