    34. Two cars are moving at constant speeds; one on a circular path of radius R = 200 m and the other on a straight road. Magnitude v of velocity of one car relative to the other has been recorded at regular intervals of time and data thus obtained is represented in a graph as shown in the figure. Calculate speeds of both the cars relative to the ground.

    35. A stone is projected from the ground with a velocity 10 m/s and its trajectory is drawn to an unknown scale on a graph paper. The horizontal range and the maximum height on the graph are 1.0 m and 0.25 m respectively. The graph paper is glued on a horizontal tabletop. If an insect moves along the trajectory on the graph paper with a uniform speed 1.0 cm/s, what should the modulus of its maximum acceleration be? Acceleration due to gravity is 10 m/s2.

    37. A particle P is moving with a constant speed u on a straight line that makes an angle with the positive x-direction of a coordinate system. When P crosses the y-axis at a point (0, 1), another particle Q starts from the origin and chases P with a uniform speed v (v u). The chaser Q always maintains its velocity vector towards the chased P.
    (a) How long after Q starts from the origin, will it catch P?
    (b) If both the chaser Q and the chased P move with equal speeds (i.e. u = v), what will be the minimum distance between them and what will be the maximum magnitude of acceleration of the chaser Q?

    3:26 bro Relative velocity max is 40 (Given in graph)
    So 2usin(theta/2) = 40
    U=20m/s
    Bro why to find dv/dt

      You are right bro. Even I got the answer without finding acceleration. The relative velocity was Vr = 2u cos (θ/2) and put θ = ωt, where ω = u/R. Thus Vr = 2u cos(ut/R). Now from graph, at t=0, Vr=40. Thus 40 = 2u cos(0), giving directly u = 20 m/s exact answer no approximation.

      But these problem can be solved orally
      Imagine two vector A and B
      Angle between the vector is changing with time
      V(relative) = √[(va)^2 + (vb)^2 - 2(va)(vb)cos(theta)]
      By the graph at t = 0
      v(relative) = 40 (maximum value ) means angle Between them is 180
      And at t= 25 V(relative)= 0 (Minimum) means angle between them is 0 and both have same magnitude.
      Problem solved , both vectors are having same magnitude of 20 each.
      Even we can find w of circular motion w= 2π/T
      T= 50 (by graph)
      Relative acceleration can also be fine .

    Dear Sir, in Q35, you did not calculate the scale of the graph. I found that the scale is 10, means the actual range is 10m and actual max height is 2.5 m. Hence I got acceleration of insect as 0.2 x 10^(-4) instead of 2 x 10^(-4). Even the book's answer key is 2 x 10^(-4). Kindly consider the scale also. I will share my calculations if you ask me.

      Hey great point, the calcs for actual range and actual height is perfect. But the insect is moving along the scaled down version of the graph so we have to consider the ROC for the given graph itself so we don't have to upscale it back.
