- The AB seaman on duty, Silver Linde, was the only survivor of those on duty on the bridge during the critical hours. His duties were to make 25 - 30-minute rounds in the ship. The round commenced 30 minutes past every hour. During the rounds he was to check the general order and fire safety in the accommodation and on the car deck. Between rounds he was on duty on the bridge as a lookout and handyman.
Silver Linde has been interrogated eight times:
1. 29 September 1994 in Turku by the Finnish police.
2. 29 September 1994 in Turku by Commission members.
3. 3 October 1994 in Tallinn by the Estonian police.
4. 17 October 1994 in Tallinn by Commission members.
5. 17 November 1994 in Tallinn by the Estonian police.
6. 3 December 1994 in Tallinn by the Estonian State Security Police.
7. 31 March 1995 in Gothenburg by Commission members.
8. 25 January 1996 in Tallinn by the Estonian police.

I always felt very sorry for Silver Linde. He was clearly subjected to a lot of pressure in Estonia, and if the Finnish authorities had insisted on him being allowed to recover properly in Turku before questioning him, then the first interviews might have yielded a lot more.

Linde was sentenced to a 9 year jail term in Finland for drug trafficking. Around this time he was interviewed by Finnish journalists. He mentioned reoccurring nightmares about the disaster. He’s definitely struggled after with PTSD.
Yes he was, and probably a lot of survivors were suffering from PTSD and similiar conditions. The surviving crew members did not recive some kind of treatment that Im aware of.

Great video, But Why are you still using the AI voice?
Because it is most convenient right now. I don't have the time to first write the text, then record and then edit the voice over. It saves me a lot of time using the voice clone software.
@@Estoniaveckan No complaints here about the AI voice - I listened to this video yesterday in the car when driving, and it's very easy to listen to. If it saves time, why not? :)
It is obvious that he did not do his job according to the instructions he was given. It is natural for many people to take shortcuts in a boring job, therefore his testimony becomes worthless.
That is true, everyone has probably taken some shortcuts during work days, escpecially if you have a repetetive work of some kind.
Was anyone ever criminally prosecuted in regards to the Estonia disaster? And did estline compensate the family members of the dead and survivors?
No, no one has ever been prosecuted and I don't think that will ever happend due to a lot of reasons. The insurance company SKULD conpensated the relatives and survivors a few years after the disaster.
