+Οδυσσέας Πανάγος Funny thing is, there were two backlit color portable systems coming out about the same time and didn't get anywhere near the attention. So, excellent marketing on Nintendo's part.
+525Lines in my opinio marketing was not the only thing. that makes such a portable console memorable, some of the games have replay value in this time we are talking. So i think you invested wiselyin the game boy ^^ i am saying this because i also have it ^^ :P but the sega game gear was a bit better , a bit.. lame joke sorry
Game boy the console that proves that handheld gaming does have to rely on calculator styled graphics and 1 game per console All you need is the system and you buy the games separately and the graphics and sound is basically a portable nes
525Lines not only those but the game and watch games too Believe it or not tiger electronics still made profit out of the outdated handheld technology for their games even after the release of the game boy Game and watch games may not have aged well but they were products of their time the tiger games after 1989 however were pretty much outdated but tiger still made a profit
525Lines that would be cool actually nintendo did release a few game and watch games durring the premiere of the game boy a super Mario brothers game and watch and a Zelda game and watch They’re definitely good novelties
I don't remember the title screen for Super Mario Land 2 looking like THAT.
I like commercial it shows you even when growing up your still a kid at heart
I think most of the people who've bought gameboys were adults.
525Lines now that go back I do remember this commercial I miss it so much don't you

Those beeping sports games with the red dashes representing players? Those were $50 each back in the day.
525Lines not only those but the game and watch games too

@@jamesborlan2850 I bought a radio shack version of those game & watch games in 1987. Simple graphics can be fun. Imagine if they'd done a tetris one.

525Lines I also agree that simple graphics can be fun the Atari 2600 is a great example of this
Even the pong consoles are good examples
This commercial is from 1989 and yet show a game that did not came out until 1992?
I checked and you're right. Super Marioland 2 didn't come out until 1992. Thanks. I updated the heading.
