An epic day out in Sussex: Spearfishing: September 2022.

- Epic day spearfishing Sussex with Zak:
Our plan was simple: a tour around Sussex: Windfarm, Brighton Old Pier, New Pier, and originally some offshore rocks (which we dropped). The viz was excellent for Sussex, and it was fishy for Sussex (the windfarm seems to vary a lot, this time holding "Cornwall" numbers of fish).
First video I have tried a voice over - I know it’s not great, but still getting the hang of this. At least I got most of it on gopro this time (although I still have half an hour of mask-on-the-boat-floor footage).
Total catch:
Me: Two bass, two bream, two mullet, four plaice, one massive brown crab.
Zak: Two bass, one plaice.
WARNING: some of these locations are not safe for inexperienced or unfit diver/boater/swimmers:
The windfarm is 11 miles offshore, very deep, and carries a high risk of poor/fast-changing conditions. The current can run at 2kt, and as it passes around the towers it can concentrate to several times that - becoming impossible to swim/fin against.
Likewise, the old pier has a lot of discarded fishing trace on, and part of it is on the brink of collapse: Therefore not recommended for inexperienced divers.
The new pier is comparatively safe though.
Note: gopro had basically died by Brighton, so the 2nd and 3rd plaice clips are from two days before which I didn't post (but have more entertainment value here anyway).
