Hi everyone!! I hope you enjoy the video! It was a super nostalgic and fun one for me. As you can probably tell by the length of the video, this took me FOREVER to make. I know I normally post these kinds of videos every other Friday, but I think I’m going to need an extra week before I post another Friday video. I finally finished this video last night so I’m a bit behind at the moment and need more time to work on my next one, so Friday videos will return the first week of October! I hope that’s cool with you all! Twisted Wonderland updates this month, so you’ll have that to watch in the meantime!
Just a theory but maybe it was going to be a yuri route but at the last second higher ups was like no and they look at the already completed Cgs and was like well shoot,not a fan of yuri so this doesn't bother me.
i didn't play for many years but somewhere in the back of my head theres a memory of cheritz confirming (on Valentines day or something) that Jaehee is bi but that was like before there was even a V route hahaha... maybe i imagined it. anyway, seems like they never changed jaehees route to end in a romance...
the spanish translation came out on that year more or less and many spanish speaking people actually played it for the first time and experiences it entirely then (hence the resurgence). Also the pandemic, but I rmemeber a huga part of the new content being in spanish lol
I'll never forget how I randomly went to the App Store, saw this game, saw no trailer whatsoever and decided to install it. Utter confusion but i kept playing realising there's actually different routes after using all my hourglasses on calling Yoosung and Jumin 😭
I still remember the shock and awe I felt when I thought things were going fine with Jumin and then he tied a ribbon around my neck and made me his captive. Good times.
My boyfriend came across a video about Mystic Messenger, I don't remember exactly, but it was a tiktok slide comparing boy's mobile games to girl's. To which he asked me if I played the romance ones to which I replied yeah, I was 14 and playing as a girl that unknowingly got involved in a terrorist cult and investigates the death of a woman with her mutuals.
Fun fact, there was a happy birthday opening screen for Jaehee where her and MC are eating cake watching (presumably) Zen videos, and they both have wedding rings on their left ring fingers.

Oh man, the Zen slander is hurting my heart a lot. When I first played the game, I was going all in on Yoosung because the bright puppy boy archetype was my favorite. oTL I got so disgusted and annoyed by how ADAMANTLY he kept comparing me to Rika, and although I hadn't liked Zen before, the way he was always so quick to defend me and put Yoosung in his place for mistreating me made me really come around to him being a great guy. I had to quit Yoosung's route and immediately went for Zen instead. I didn't think he was obnoxiously arrogant or too flirty (I know I've seen worse. Zen was always very respectful), and I still saw him very much as 'the guy who stood up for me'.
@@dredreadful4520 Yeah Zen honestly has some great moments! I don’t blame you for feeling that way about Yoosung the way he acts is weird lol and Zen was great at sticking up for you. That’s why I can never truly say that I hate Zen because he actually treats you really well and has some great moments
ive played the zen route a few times and each time i have i had to grieve because it hurt my heart to go on any other route after just clearing his route..
and this isn't even mentioning the fact Seven knows its a game and he remembers every time you reset... I remember balllllling my eyes out when I found that out. He'll always have a special place in my heart - plus his personality is just my type. So many fictional characters that act the same as him, I fall in love with. Pretty sure Seven was the start of that xD Also my favourite is the Seven emoji where he's winking, or he's eating chips
Every time I revisit the game (literally just months ago…) I HAVE to do his route, or end on his route bc of this. I played all the way back when it came out, and just recently did I venture to do Zen and Jumin 😩
Zen had the most genetic route but during Another story he was the BEST character!! I cheered when he came in the chat especially when Yoosung was so annoying😭😭 It’s so sad cuz Yoosung used to be one of my fav characters until Another story😭😭
The Yoosung jump scares 🤣 In all honesty, I would LOVE a follow up vid looking at the bonkers bad ends if only for Yoosung's alone. That kid has probleeeeeeeeems. This game was super popular back when i was in 10th grade. My schedule was really busy but i really eanted to play. I have a vivid memory of being on a later day in zens route while running a fever waiting to be seen at a Walgreens clinic while lying on the floor like "I gotta...read ... The chats" So thats why I only ever played Zens route lol. I was always curious about the rest of the game because I really loved it, just didn't have the time for it. Jaehee's route was literally my lesbian awakening. I remember being like 15 and going "ugh, she's so sweet and pretty, why can't I date women instead, I don't like men... oh, wait" 😅
I remember being 14 and literally asking to go to the bathroom during class so I could pick up the phone calls from the characters from Mystic Messenger 😂😂😂 This game was such a fun time, I remember loving the 707 and Jumin routes ! Really enjoyed your video, it made me pretty nostalgic ❤
It's funny to watch someone have a completely opposite taste 😂(As in, Zen and Jaehee happened to be my absolute favorites and while I can't say I hate Jumin now, I was definitely fuming for a long time after what he did in Jaehee's route) Zen is fascinating to me as a character because yeah, he's not everyone's taste with his narcissism, but it's an interesting dynamic when you analyze his story - he's turned narcissistic due to his parents' lies about his beauty, so it feels like he's trying to rebuild all the self-esteem he lost because of them. Said aspect of his is also a good contrast to his perception of success - modeling could get him a huge fame due to his looks but that'd be like choosing an easy route. So instead he chooses to work hard as an actor to prove his worth through his skills, showing people what he's like on the inside when they can only see what's outside. Also I still laugh about him having prophetic dreams??? Like, Cheritz, why him specifically? Jaehee's route, while not too eventful, remains one of my favorites because I genuinely broke down crying over Jaehee having her passion crushed by the ooc Jumin. Idk why, seeing her struggle both in the past and in the present made me feel for her and honestly, I WISH she was date-able so we could make her the most loved girl on the planet. I did eventually warm up to Jumin due to all those autistic-like behaviors of his (while not confirmed to be autistic, I know a lot of people headcanon him as one) but I guess the fandom's perception of him being Mr Grey is what still gives me a bitter feeling, even while knowing it's all a Bad Ending stuff. Gotta love the fandoms destroying the character perception through constant and widespread mischaracterization.

And it’s so unfair that you can’t date jaehee like her poor fans did not deserve that. And even if I’m not the biggest fan of zen, I really like the explanation for how he ended up like that thanks to his family it’s pretty interesting
From a fellow Jumin enjoyer, you had some really based arguments for his route. No one ever brings up the fact that his concern would be heightened by everyone having bodyguards. Also love how you hammer home how stupid the whole ‘having to stay in the apartment’ concept is. My second fave is also Saeran tho I tend to be in the minority that was incredibly creeped out by Ray (BUT his rose emoji is my favourite, it’s just….mesmerising.) [This moment also made me cackle: 1:38:33] Also, I had NO idea about the context behind the Dandelion link regarding Jisoo. Kinda wanna watch your playthrough on it now.
@@Its_MoogUp to this point, I had remembered this role as being an alpha-type that had to sacrifice his chance at true love in order to protect his sister (that could still be true? I obviously don’t know Dandelion canon very well.) It also has been a hot minute since I played Jumin’s route so I forgot he keeps that role in that timeline, and the fact that Cheritz possibly could’ve been trying to doing direct parallels with that role with the one he has in Ray’s Route (Zekyll and White,) particularly with how both roles apparently both involved Zen manifesting his hatred for Jumin. Haven’t actually thought about that before.
@@roseymatilda745 I would say that is a part of Jisoo’s character, but it’s revealed rather late in the route. Most of the route is him being rather controlling and toxic and throwing a fit about you hanging out with your friend. But in other routes he’s a major goof and a big dummy.
If I recall correctly MC needs to stay at Rika's place for her own safety although tbf that also doesn't make much sense since Unknown clearly knows the code to enter... Maybe Seven changed it or something.
Oh my gosh, I'm SO glad there's a MM video that is so recent! I started getting back to it for nostalgia's sake and my gosh... it was such a callback to when I was alone and 14. Now I'm 20, haven friends, going to college and such. This game was a great help in socialising me while also escaping from reality, truly one of the best mobile games of all time
I am always ready to listen to a mystic messenger video and you presented this really well! I am however a PROUD Jaehee route defender, yes I acknowledge that this is the worst depiction of Jumin however!! They all rotate playing the “villain” of the starts of the routes! Zen is much less tolerable in Jumins, Jaehhe in Zens, etc. Also a huge chunk of the route is how Jaehee has been searching for a connection and recognition shes never received (parallels zen and jumins routes imo) and mc is able to give her both! Zen only acknowledges her bc of MC and Jaehee wouldnt feel comfortable being friends with the RFA instead of just coworkers without MC! Its imo a very nice counter to the other routes where they mainly just need a gf bc Jaehee has their same issues and worries but you point out a few times that she needs a genuine relationship of any kind! Jumin is the second best router though I get
Jumin Han is best boy frfr. When I was replaying his route (for the 5th time) I made few notes to put into words why I consider him just the cutest: "I just love his progression from this seemingly emotionless businessman! VA also did an amazing job, throughout his route you can hear how progressively fond his voice gets. He's so cute without even realizing it. I love how subtly his affection for MC starts: Day 5 -> his concern when he can't send bodyguards for MC, how he's trying to crack jokes in chats, how he takes into consideration things MC says and MC's reactions to his messages, his call "I have a bit of a headache so I called because I thought your voice will help" (srsly, I swear he doesn't even realize how that sounds and how he reached this conclusion xd), how he logged in 'cuz "he wanted to see if you're safe" and called to "make sure his number is on quickdial and to call him if anything happens", also it's notable that he's consciously trying here to prolong conversation (Day 1 Jumin = you can ask me ONE question, Day 5 = Yeah I did eat... but let me tell you details!); after chat where he is too distraught to write comprehend messages he calls MC to "apologize you had to see him like that"; the call "I thought I wouldn't able to fall asleep tonight, but you helped; I hope your voice will suffice to trigger dreaming about you" Day 6 - call "I think I dreamt about you last night and I missed your voice when I woke up; I waited with calling so that I wouldn't wake you" Jaehee's call "when I see Mr. Han when he talks to you on the phone, I notice him smiling" , and when you call Jumin here you'll hear "your voice is like a warm breeze that brings out my sincerity" >_< " And That's only to Day 6. Btw respect for calling out this bullshit "he locked us up" and "you have to go back to bomb apartment"
omg our experiences were so similar. I was also super annoyed by Zen, bored by Jaehee’s route, and LOVEDDD Jumin. Seven also became a fav for me, and I also instantly fell for Saeran playing V’s route. which was crazy bc I was waiting with so much anticipation to romance V because I was interested in him since the common route lmao. the only difference really is I always disliked Yoosung. idk why LMAO. I used to have a wall scroll of Saeran that I hung up in my room for regular people to see, I got it from wish. 😭

@@Its_Moog I think the main thing was him being delusional thinking mc was rika. i haven’t gotten any myself, but I know that in one of the bad endings, he gets very yandere about that and I was like AHHH uncomf. 😭 I know in the main story he learns to move past that, but I couldn’t suspend my disbelief that far tbh, bc the way I would be running for the hills the first second anyone started weirdly comparing me to their ‘dead’ cousin. 😭 .
I tried to play this when it came out but if you say you're a boy at the beginning(I am a gay man) they give you some rude, vaguely homophobic insults. I immediately quit and deleted it because miss me with that. 😂

Oh my god, i cant even remember the last time i was this happy to see a video come up on my feed. Mystic messenger was my LIFE when it first came out, i was down right obsessed, losing sleep and falling in love with the characters and story. I absolutely loved the video but I cant help but take a stand for my man Zen. Let me tell you, the way I loved this man was delulu. I had never felt stronger feelings for any other fictional character in my life. Head over heels, kicking my feet and blushing like a school girl every time we texted and especially during his calls. He has the absolute cutest voice lines in the game and I'll die on this hill. To be more serious though, he was the first route I did in the game and he completely stole my heart. Even after playing all of the other routes (after story, ect.) he was still my number on hands down. In the begining he absolutely comes on too strong but it always rubbed me the wrong way when people called him a narcissist. He's not, narcissists are manipulators who would do anything and everything to put themselves first with no regard for others and will do anything in their power to be in control of any given situation. They only ever care about themselves. Zen is the opposite of that. He is literally Zen The Knight! He was the only character who was consistantly worried about MC's well being no matter who's route they were on and he always stood up for them. He was always there for the people he cared about, especially taking on a big brother role for Yoosung. What Zen actually was is vein. Because the only thing he ever bragged about was his looks and in such a superficial way. At first I just found it funny because it was so exagarated I couldn't really take it seriously so I just played along, but over time I realized it was actually a desperate need for validation. He was so deeply insecure about his looks, due to his parents poor treatment, that he constantly needed to be reminded that he in fact wasnt ugly. And of course he'd seek out that validation from the only people he has in his life. To him the RFA are his family, he doesnt have any other friends, or a partner, nothing. He sees his friends as family and thats why he's always been so involved and ready to jump into action any time someone was in trouble and especially the MC. There's soooo much more I could talk about but I've already went off on a rant so I'll wrap things up by saying Zen is an incredible character and he'll always have a special place in my heart. He's loyal to a fault, wears his heart on his sleeve and I truly wish that maybe one day we could be in the same reality together ❤
I played the game in 2017 when I was 14 years old, I still like it A LOT 😂 I haven't been able to find an otome that I like as much as MM 😢 The situations, the voice acting, the writing, the endings, they're amazing and I love Saeran so much 😞💕
I used to play this game a lot in my teen days . Downloaded this game in 2016 when it release, play it like I woke up at 12am or 1am to chat with them and go to sleep lmao. Usually spend free time to complete Normal and Deep Route. Currently, I do not play it anymore, change to other game (recently play Love and Deep Space). Honestly, Mystic Messenger still such a good otome game which is hilarious, fun, sad, happy, and thriller stories.
Loved the video!! I was in my first year of uni when this game came out and the absolute GRIP it had on me at the time was crazy. I have vivid memories of setting alarms and pre-opening chats on the way to classes to make sure I didn’t miss any (and once even whipped my phone out in the middle of a night club to check in on my virtual boyfriend lmao) Watching this was super nostalgic, I might have to do a replay again sometime soon!

I find these characters so similar to the new Love and Deepspace! Jumin is so much like Zayne, Yoosung's cute and innocent persona is like Xavier's. Zen straight up looks like Sylus! Rafayel is very much like 707, playful but dangerous and traumatized lol
I played Jumin’s route and misunderstood what the responses meant and got the crazy ending. I remember being speechless like this man did not just lock me up against my will and force me to wear a cat collar and chains. I had to replay it to fix the ending and realized it was literally based off one question. 😂😂 I for some reason thought the response I chose would be sympathetic but it was actually like.. meh forget about the cat lol. So I understood why that happened but with love, he still a lil freak for that.. Lol ❤😂 & he was my favorite too.
Got into this game in 7th grade end it ruined me. I had to redo Saerans route like 4 times cause I kept getting his normal end. I know his route by heart now. No matter what Saeran does I still love him Id be in the gym waiting on my bus or sneaking in class with mobile data,shitty middle school signal, and a dream to read the chat before i missed it. I was steady planning the day before which chats to miss and which ones i could read before im home
This game came out when I was in 10th grade. I still remember writing down the chatroom times, email replies in a book by my hand before playing the whole game, instead of studying 😂 Those times were good, really. Mystic Messenger helped me get through those stressful times, whenever i feel upset from real life, I can go into the game and enjoy myself there. I stopped playing for two years around when V's route come out, I was literally shocked after finding out V's and Saeran's route came out, like what?? But I am happy that I get to play the game again until now. Mystic Messenger is the best otome game up top.
Awww man the nostalgia.... I remember sneaking out of class to the bathroom to play the chat rooms during high school. Good times 😂 this game has a very special place in my heart❤ (big jumin, 7 and Ray fan. I LOVED all three of them and replayed them for years on end. I remember losing sleep while playing this game back in 11th grade, trying my hardest to participate in every single chatroom. I was writing a bunch of comics relating to the game back then, and I overall just look at my MysMe phase really fondly. This was a great video, and such a nostalgic, but also wild, ride!
Loving this vid so far- I played mysme sooo many times after getting into it in like...2018/2019, but I went for 7's route literally every time, minus a single Jumin run 💀 I ended up watching the others on UA-cam because I couldn't bring myself to choose anyone else LOL Also, re: Zen's route, I always really enjoyed how central the relationship between him and Jumin is to the plot bc it feels like we're watching THEIR romance 😭 (which I'm not mad about, ngl; I'm also rly not a huge Zen fan, but I think his and Jumin's relationship in his route brings out the best in him) (probably bc Jumin is there lol)

I love V with all my heart. I always only download the game when I miss him and delete it after finishing his route, but it makes me so angry how little content he has. He is barely in his own route, drugged or stabbed for most of the thing and we only got something akin to a kiss CG on his last birthday. I was also super surprised how much people that play the game hate him espite everything and while I understand they have their own opinions, some people are just downright mean about it :(
I totally agree! V really does deserve more content and it breaks my heart to see how much people hate on him because I just feel so terrible for him. I really don't think he deserves any of the hate he gets. My love for him has grown over the years and he's definitely one of my top characters now

Despite how little he is in his own route, it shows so nicely how much he sacrifices for the sake of others and how he believes he deserves no happiness or love after being trapped in an incredibly abusive relationship. He’s just tragedy in a fictional character. However, I must admit that him randomly faking cancer in Jaehee’s route caught me incredibly off guard.

Because i always replay his route when i feel down, saving his chat screenshoot from 8 years ago, and every time he said, "707 not real",i said, "Know your place human." *chilax, he is still my boyfriend, but every time i talk about 707, i can sense his mood is diving down* I love saeyoung, and i can say 707 already hack me and make a special place for him in my heart. I'm not complaining, tho.

It´s been years since I last played this game and I will never forget the whiplash I felt when I played the april fools dlc, which is surrealist af since most of the characters became real life objets (if I remember correctly, Yoosung became an omelette, and Jaehee was an electric kettle), and then Zen discovers he´s a videogame character out of nowhere in one of the endings lmao
I don't care what Cheritz says, Jaehee is queer and loves the protag and they get to live in domestic bliss while running the coffee shop. Also her after story is in no way platonic, idc if they don't kiss, there's no heterosexual explanation for that scene 😭

Jumin and V are my two favourites in Mystic Messenger. Jumin is so adorable and complex and he was the one that me into MM, but V made me stay. I love Jumin's route and his growth and how sweet he is to the MC. He's such a complex character and he is honestly very kind and respectful to the MC every step of the way, even if he is struggling. And he is unintentionally hilarious and iconic! I will never forgive the fandom for mischaracterising him, he's such a softie that has struggled so much but opens up to love and emotions thanks to the MC... It's such a beautiful, romantic route. I have to say, though, V's route is unironically one of my favourite routes in any otome game ever. It just gets me in the feels how at every step of the route, no matter who much he is suffering, always prioritises the MC. He loves them so selflessly and wants nothing but the best for them. The whole route he's trying to save and protect the MC and urging them to be happy. And their relationship feels so genuine and sincere to me, so full of love despite nothing of that sort being expressed. He's so flawed, struggles so much but he's so sweet and has such a sense of responsibility. UGH. I just love him.
I stopped playing the game for some years due to time issues, I was so excited when V's and Ray's route came out!! But again, I DIDN'T HAD TIME TO PLAY... Until now lol I just finished Ray's route and DLC. Oh man, the Zen slander is hurting my heart a lot. When I first played the game, I was going all in on Yoosung because the bright puppy boy archetype was my favorite. oTL I got so disgusted and annoyed by how ADAMANTLY he kept comparing me to Rika, and although I hadn't liked Zen before, the way he was always so quick to defend me and put Yoosung in his place for mistreating me made me really come around to him being a great guy. I had to quit Yoosung's route and immediately went for Zen instead. I didn't think he was obnoxiously arrogant or too flirty (I know I've seen worse. Zen was always very respectful), and I still saw him very much as 'the guy who stood up for me'.

It's funny to watch someone have a completely opposite taste 😂(As in, Zen and Jaehee happened to be my absolute favorites and while I can't say I hate Jumin now, I was definitely fuming for a long time after what he did in Jaehee's route)
Zen is fascinating to me as a character because yeah, he's not everyone's taste with his narcissism, but it's an interesting dynamic when you analyze his story - he's turned narcissistic due to his parents' lies about his beauty, so it feels like he's trying to rebuild all the self-esteem he lost because of them. Said aspect of his is also a good contrast to his perception of success - modeling could get him a huge fame due to his looks but that'd be like choosing an easy route. So instead he chooses to work hard as an actor to prove his worth through his skills, showing people what he's like on the inside when they can only see what's outside.
Also I still laugh about him having prophetic dreams??? Like, Cheritz, why him specifically?
Jaehee's route, while not too eventful, remains one of my favorites because I genuinely broke down crying over Jaehee having her passion crushed by the ooc Jumin. Idk why, seeing her struggle both in the past and in the present made me feel for her and honestly, I WISH she was date-able so we could make her the most loved girl on the planet.
I did eventually warm up to Jumin due to all those autistic-like behaviors of his (while not confirmed to be autistic, I know a lot of people headcanon him as one) but I guess the fandom's perception of him being Mr Grey is what still gives me a bitter feeling, even while knowing it's all a Bad Ending stuff. Gotta love the fandoms destroying the character perception through constant and widespread mischaracterization.

And it’s so unfair that you can’t date jaehee like her poor fans did not deserve that. From a fellow Jumin enjoyer, you had some really based arguments for his route. No one ever brings up the fact that his concern would be heightened by everyone having bodyguards. Also love how you hammer home how stupid the whole ‘having to stay in the apartment’ concept is.
My second fave is also Saeran tho I tend to be in the minority that was incredibly creeped out by Ray (BUT his rose emoji is my favourite, it’s just….mesmerising.)

@@Its_MoogUp to this point, I had remembered this role as being an alpha-type that had to sacrifice his chance at true love in order to protect his sister (that could still be true? I obviously don’t know Dandelion canon very well.)
It also has been a hot minute since I played Jumin’s route so I forgot he keeps that role in that timeline, and the fact that Cheritz possibly could’ve been trying to doing direct parallels with that role with the one he has in Ray’s Route (Zekyll and White,) particularly with how both roles apparently both involved Zen manifesting his hatred for Jumin. Haven’t actually thought about that before.
@@roseymatilda745 I would say that is a part of Jisoo’s character, but it’s revealed rather late in the route. Most of the route is him being rather controlling and toxic and throwing a fit about you hanging out with your friend. But in other routes he’s a major goof and a big dummy.

Oh my gosh, I'm SO glad there's a MM video that is so recent! I started getting back to it for nostalgia's sake and my gosh... it was such a callback to when I was alone and 14. Now I'm 20, haven friends, going to college and such. This game was a great help in socialising me while also escaping from reality, truly one of the best mobile games of all time

I am always ready to listen to a mystic messenger video and you presented this really well! I am however a PROUD Jaehee route defender, yes I acknowledge that this is the worst depiction of Jumin however!! They all rotate playing the “villain” of the starts of the routes! Zen is much less tolerable in Jumins, Jaehhe in Zens, etc. Also a huge chunk of the route is how Jaehee has been searching for a connection and recognition shes never received (parallels zen and jumins routes imo) and mc is able to give her both! Zen only acknowledges her bc of MC and Jaehee wouldnt feel comfortable being friends with the RFA instead of just coworkers without MC! Its imo a very nice counter to the other routes where they mainly just need a gf bc Jaehee has their same issues and worries but you point out a few times that she needs a genuine relationship of any kind! Jumin is the second best router though I get
Jumin Han is best boy frfr. When I was replaying his route (for the 5th time) I made few notes to put into words why I consider him just the cutest:
"I just love his progression from this seemingly emotionless businessman! VA also did an amazing job, throughout his route you can hear how progressively fond his voice gets.
He's so cute without even realizing it. I love how subtly his affection for MC starts:
Day 5 -> his concern when he can't send bodyguards for MC, how he's trying to crack jokes in chats, how he takes into consideration things MC says and MC's reactions to his messages, his call "I have a bit of a headache so I called because I thought your voice will help" (srsly, I swear he doesn't even realize how that sounds and how he reached this conclusion xd), how he logged in 'cuz "he wanted to see if you're safe" and called to "make sure his number is on quickdial and to call him if anything happens", also it's notable that he's consciously trying here to prolong conversation (Day 1 Jumin = you can ask me ONE question, Day 5 = Yeah I did eat... but let me tell you details!); after chat where he is too distraught to write comprehend messages he calls MC to "apologize you had to see him like that"; the call "I thought I wouldn't able to fall asleep tonight, but you helped; I hope your voice will suffice to trigger dreaming about you"
Day 6 - call "I think I dreamt about you last night and I missed your voice when I woke up; I waited with calling so that I wouldn't wake you"
Jaehee's call "when I see Mr. Han when he talks to you on the phone, I notice him smiling" , and when you call Jumin here you'll hear "your voice is like a warm breeze that brings out my sincerity" >_< "

omg our experiences were so similar. I was also super annoyed by Zen, bored by Jaehee’s route, and LOVEDDD Jumin. Seven also became a fav for me, and I also instantly fell for Saeran playing V’s route. which was crazy bc I was waiting with so much anticipation to romance V because I was interested in him since the common route lmao.

Oh my god, i cant even remember the last time i was this happy to see a video come up on my feed. Mystic messenger was my LIFE when it first came out, i was down right obsessed, losing sleep and falling in love with the characters and story.
I absolutely loved the video but I cant help but take a stand for my man Zen. Let me tell you, the way I loved this man was delulu. I had never felt stronger feelings for any other fictional character in my life. Head over heels, kicking my feet and blushing like a school girl every time we texted and especially during his calls. He has the absolute cutest voice lines in the game and I'll die on this hill.
To be more serious though, he was the first route I did in the game and he completely stole my heart. Even after playing all of the other routes (after story, ect.) he was still my number on hands down. In the begining he absolutely comes on too strong but it always rubbed me the wrong way when people called him a narcissist. He's not, narcissists are manipulators who would do anything and everything to put themselves first with no regard for others and will do anything in their power to be in control of any given situation. They only ever care about themselves.
Zen is the opposite of that. He is literally Zen The Knight! He was the only character who was consistantly worried about MC's well being no matter who's route they were on and he always stood up for them. He was always there for the people he cared about, especially taking on a big brother role for Yoosung.
What Zen actually was is vein. Because the only thing he ever bragged about was his looks and in such a superficial way. At first I just found it funny because it was so exagarated I couldn't really take it seriously so I just played along, but over time I realized it was actually a desperate need for validation. He was so deeply insecure about his looks, due to his parents poor treatment, that he constantly needed to be reminded that he in fact wasnt ugly. And of course he'd seek out that validation from the only people he has in his life.
To him the RFA are his family, he doesnt have any other friends, or a partner, nothing. He sees his friends as family and thats why he's always been so involved and ready to jump into action any time someone was in trouble and especially the MC.
There's soooo much more I could talk about but I've already went off on a rant so I'll wrap things up by saying Zen is an incredible character and he'll always have a special place in my heart. He's loyal to a fault, wears his heart on his sleeve and I truly wish that maybe one day we could be in the same reality together ❤

I used to play this game a lot in my teen days . Downloaded this game in 2016 when it release, play it like I woke up at 12am or 1am to chat with them and go to sleep lmao. Usually spend free time to complete Normal and Deep Route. Currently, I do not play it anymore, change to other game (recently play Love and Deep Space). Honestly, Mystic Messenger still such a good otome game which is hilarious, fun, sad, happy, and thriller stories.

I remember losing sleep while playing this game back in 11th grade, trying my hardest to participate in every single chatroom. I was writing a bunch of comics relating to the game back then, and I overall just look at my MysMe phase really fondly. This was a great video, and such a nostalgic, but also wild, ride!

Loving this vid so far- I played mysme sooo many times after getting into it in like...2018/2019, but I went for 7's route literally every time, minus a single Jumin run 💀 I ended up watching the others on UA-cam because I couldn't bring myself to choose anyone else LOL
Also, re: Zen's route, I always really enjoyed how central the relationship between him and Jumin is to the plot bc it feels like we're watching THEIR romance 😭 (which I'm not mad about, ngl; I'm also rly not a huge Zen fan, but I think his and Jumin's relationship in his route brings out the best in him) (probably bc Jumin is there lol)

I love V with all my heart. I always only download the game when I miss him and delete it after finishing his route, but it makes me so angry how little content he has. He is barely in his own route, drugged or stabbed for most of the thing and we only got something akin to a kiss CG on his last birthday. I was also super surprised how much people that play the game hate him espite everything and while I understand they have their own opinions, some people are just downright mean about it :(
I totally agree! V really does deserve more content and it breaks my heart to see how much people hate on him because I just feel so terrible for him. I really don't think he deserves any of the hate he gets. My love for him has grown over the years and he's definitely one of my top characters now

Despite how little he is in his own route, it shows so nicely how much he sacrifices for the sake of others and how he believes he deserves no happiness or love after being trapped in an incredibly abusive relationship. He’s just tragedy in a fictional character. However, I must admit that him randomly faking cancer in Jaehee’s route caught me incredibly off guard.

It´s been years since I last played this game and I will never forget the whiplash I felt when I played the april fools dlc, which is surrealist af since most of the characters became real life objets (if I remember correctly, Yoosung became an omelette, and Jaehee was an electric kettle), and then Zen discovers he´s a videogame character out of nowhere in one of the endings lmao

I don't care what Cheritz says, Jaehee is queer and loves the protag and they get to live in domestic bliss while running the coffee shop. Also her after story is in no way platonic, idc if they don't kiss, there's no heterosexual explanation for that scene 😭

Jumin and V are my two favourites in Mystic Messenger. Jumin is so adorable and complex and he was the one that me into MM, but V made me stay.
I love Jumin's route and his growth and how sweet he is to the MC. He's such a complex character and he is honestly very kind and respectful to the MC every step of the way, even if he is struggling. And he is unintentionally hilarious and iconic! I will never forgive the fandom for mischaracterising him, he's such a softie that has struggled so much but opens up to love and emotions thanks to the MC... It's such a beautiful, romantic route.
I have to say, though, V's route is unironically one of my favourite routes in any otome game ever.
It just gets me in the feels how at every step of the route, no matter who much he is suffering, always prioritises the MC. He loves them so selflessly and wants nothing but the best for them. The whole route he's trying to save and protect the MC and urging them to be happy. And their relationship feels so genuine and sincere to me, so full of love despite nothing of that sort being expressed. He's so flawed, struggles so much but he's so sweet and has such a sense of responsibility. UGH. I just love him.
I stopped playing the game for some years due to time issues, I was so excited when V's and Ray's route came out!! But again, I DIDN'T HAD TIME TO PLAY... Until now lol I just finished Ray's route and DLC. I must say I'm so destroyed and happy and sad at the same time, and also I feel like I don't want to do V's route, I kinda hate him too much to do that, (edit: guess I'm just not prepared yet)
