Statistically, Nier was absolutely in a category of her own prior to 1.5. Before the nerfs, she accounted for 43% of all Arc World Tour wins and 20% of ALL Top 8 finishes. Only launch Beatrix had a higher winrate, and she was hotfixed within a month. That is Leroy Smith/Meta Knight/Omega Rugal-level dominance.
balance team: let's give the puppet character a meterless reversal that starts combos and her resource doesn't run out before the round ends and ultra mix and let her ignore the cooldown mechanic. balance team in the rework: let's make the puppet character lose the puppet constantly, take away her mix and make her lose base system mechanics. professionals to be sure e.e
As broken as nier was I still think her being hit as hard as she was wasn’t entirely necessary, the loss of raging strike without death was ridiculous, and also while yes her pressure was super strong her strings aren’t actually true often because she doesn’t have enough frame advantage to do a skill and keep it safe, her auto combo ender is only -4 yet all of her specials are to slow to come out safely in pressure, her fastest special is ex misfortune (the dp) at 12 frames, yet I’ve still gotten beaten out during it. Maybe I’m just bad, and I do think that her pressure did still have at least a few tiiiny gaps. But I do also think she deserved to be nerfed in the end
Thank you for this video, some people geninuely forgot how much an issue pre-patch Nier was and they're constantly comparing certain current top tiers to her. It's as if these people didn't fight pre patch nier or see how dominant she was in tournaments and rank boards 😂
