We have a Rosetta installed in our aircraft with the 2 external aerials. Currently, to access iGrid we must use a mobile phone with a hotspot. Will we still need a mobile hotspot to connect to iGrid with FX?
Yes you will need a mobile hotspot but the access to your phone is built in rather than having a separate dongle. As an aside did you realise that the best way to turn your iOS (Apple) phone hotspot on is to ask Siri. Just say Hey Siri and when it answers just sat "Turn personal hotspot on”. It work great and doesnt turn off until you tell it to. THis automatic way must enable/disable things that are not done with a manual turn on . I find it perfect.
Looks great - just a few questions: 1) does the FX do FLARM out, or do I need to buy a FLARM transmitter? 2) does the FX also output traffic data in serial so I can plug it into my EFIS? 3) How much is the yearly fee? I can't seem to find it on the website. Thanks!
Hi dermis The FX does not transmit Flarm out as there are many Flarm transmitting devices available and installed. What it does is plug into your existing Flarm and then adds all the other aircraft transmitting any other type of EC. IN thius way it has Flarm in -out, PilotAware in-out and ADSB- in . All at a reasonable price that also includes weather.
Yes the FX outputs the traffic data so it can display all the traffic detected on your chosen EFIS isng NMEA messages. The first year licence fee is included in the price and currently £24 plus vat after that. This can be set up via direct debit and the ne code renewed automatically over the air
No internal battery, but it has multiple powering options. 9-33 volts from 12 or 24 volt aircraft electrics (a separate switch is recommended) via a supplied fused power lead into the 2-pole Molex connector, 5 volts via USB-C from a suitable USB socket or PowerBank, or if you connect it in series with an existing FLARM transceiver, it will pick up its power from the FLARM via the RJ45 input cable. Lots of fitting options depending on the intended location and aircraft construction. Because of its light weight, it can be mounted using Velcro hook & loop fastening, and a standard 1/4” tripod socket and 2 x 5mm threaded sockets are provided on the underside for more permanent fixing. Just remember to keep it the right way up unless you are using a remote gps antenna.
@@peterrobertson8141 It also has an inbuilt camera mount thread, so it can be fixed to the screen using a sucker mount available from your favourite supplier including Amazon. Choose which is best for your wallet and application

How is this mounted in the aircraft? Does it have an internal battery?
