- How To Grow Bitter Gourd From Seeds - A Complete Guide For Growing Karela
Bitter gourd, also known as bitter melon or Karela which is closely related to zucchini, bottle gourd, squash, pumpkins and my favourite cucumber. Seeds can be planted Directly into the ground when the last frost is over. If your starting a vegetable garden in a colder climate such as the UK, USA or Canada its best to start seeds indoors 6 weeks prior to planting in the ground or in containers.
In this video we will give you a complete guide for planting bitter gourd from seeds to harvest.
April is the perfect month to plant seeds indoors for your summer vegetables.

I was inspired growing bitter gourd. They are quite dear here. Also we eat loads of this. May I know if I can overwinter this in a non heated greenhouse? I am from the southwest which is I think the warmest part of the UK

Asalamualaikum, I always learn more from watching your videos. I wanted to know if you could do a video on crops that can be sown in hanging baskets. I have a small, patio garden and want to use as much of it as I can for growing vegetables. Thank you
Thank you for your comment.
This are some of the plants and herbs you can grow in hanging baskets. Coriander, Eggplants , strawberries, small peppers, green chilli, cherry tomatoes , and lettuce are all good candidates. Chives, mustard greens , cabbage, and many herbs are naturals for hanging baskets, as are the always popular strawberry plants.
We will make a video on plants that can be grown in baskets
Good video information, enjoy watching your program. Thanks 👍👍

What are your views on eco-friendly jute planters/woven natural jute and cotton pot bags with handles (that can also be used for storage) for indoor plants/ all plants ?
I bought a cheap heat mat on ebay and I saved seeds from a karela I got from local Asian shops (I kept the ones that has red coating on them as I think that indicates maturity) and alhamdulillah they al germinated. Excited I hope they grow here up north as we don't get hot weather like in the south.
Unfortunately no germination on bottle gourd. I had to purchase these they were very expensive so I'm sad they didn't grow.
Good seeds are hard to find. You can email me your phone number and I will contact you via WhatsApp alirajabaganbariuk@gmail.com

I have started sowing my seeds since mid February ,pumpkins seeds is doing ok,but the cucumber, bottle gourd, tomatoes, dwarf beans and aubergine and bird eyes chilliest are still ver very small seedlings and hardly growing.what am I doing wrong?do I need to use weak liquid fertilizer for seedlings to grow fast?if so,what type of feed,You would recommend me to use?
Am I using the right type of seedling mix or posting mix.some the plants is a bit yellow looking and also I noticed small black flies around the plants.I would really appreciate your caring tips on the above issues. In shaa Allah you would help.I don’t have a big garden or greenhouse,I just use the boiler cupboard and my kitchen window sill.King regards Brother Aboo.

My wife is in charge of flowers. We will try to make a video about flowers.
Thanks for your comment 😊
Healthy garden.
Do you mind me asking which way your garden faces? I have an east facing garden and I know that’s not great for the sun.
I’d like to know what would grow best with morning/late afternoon sun
Hi our garden is east facing but we get plenty of sun. As long as you getting 6 hours sun its good for most vegetables. Too much sun is not good for the plant.
@@AliRajaBagan thanks. I live in a Victorian terraced house you see, and have lots of things blocking the sun during the day but I’m glad it’s ok for my chillis. I see you grow lots chillis too 👍🏻 love the channel.
Thanks for watching.
We appreciate your comment

Too much water or too little water can make the plant leaves go yellow because the plant cannot take up essential neutrent. Cold temperature below 10 degrees Celsius will turn bitter gourd plant leaves go yellow.
Best of luck
