Tbh they aren't that good.. I used to eat them a lot as a kid, but then for economic reasons of course you stop buying the expensive bunch. And recently someone brought a package to my class and the expectation vs reality hit me hard. Any normal like cookie is the same or better..
It might be a health food thing. I'm an obsessively healthy eater and I love black licorice hahaha. And we all know Jen is big into fitness. (Not saying black licorice is healthy)
What about her palate? It's probably less trustworthy than the slats of wood you reference

I happen to work at the factory that bought out the NECCO wafer company...we also make DUM DUMS and candy canes. When we bought out the Necco wafers, we also acquired Sweethearts and Canada MInts. We are located in a small town in Northwest Ohio called Bryan and yes, we also make Circus Peanuts. Our company is called Spangler Candy Company. :)
