Great to see you jumping up and down with such enthusiasm! Reminds me of when I bought MSFS ver 1.01 home, back in about 1982. The shopkeeper had to put the floppy disks back in the box to sell it to me, because he'd been playing himself for weeks and was sorry to see it go. I was SO excited. "Oh look, there's even a bridge! That's got to be a bridge, surely? Or a tree maybe?"
I recently converted from FSX. For casual simmer I really like how much it offer without any addon. Rumor is Dovetail Games Flight got delayed after they saw the X-Plane 11 Beta.
Love the new UI and most impressed with the haze, but as you said, not so much the clouds, that's ok given an ad on is available for that. I will replace my current X-Plane once this comes out of Beta. cheers.
I'm liking it a lot. I haven't touched FSX since getting into X-Plane 11 in a month. I love the night environments more in XP11, now I can practice more night flying.
Bravo, for a first look you nailed it. This does feel better than p3d. Just needs more developers to come on board with study sums, weather.. The scenery using HD Mesh v3 and ortho4xp obliterates orbx payware.
This really makes me want X-Plane now :) Between Thomas's videos and you just jumping in and messing around with it, it seems like it's got a lot going for it :)
Thanks for the unbiased update, I've been a long time FSX fan, but I'm now converted to X Plane, after several past aborted atemplst to use past versions.
Wow....3 videos in under a week! Love it! I always appreciate your insight.....wit....charm....and humility. As I've always said, you keep producing them, I'll keep watching them. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for this video Froogle! I think you're right when you say X plane has the right feel. I'm a long term FSX/P3D user and I now realise that this sim provides us with a better feel of the aircraft. I've been back to P3D a couple of times now and while it looks good the actual flight models seem a bit 'dated'. I'm also liking the 64-bit performance, I don't run a top-of-the-range PC but I'm loving the smooth feel of the sim, even when I've got some big airports loaded!
Having flown X-Plane 10, and then moving back to FSX (because of X-Plane's crappy water effects for float's and amphib's), and then shifting back to X-Plane 11(I have the full beta), I will be sticking with X-Plane 11. The ground textures, flight physics, and night lighting are so much better than FSX. I will be testing the water physics to see if they are better. The feel of flying, and needed trimming are vastly superior to FSX. Weather and cloud add-on's are a must. Great video Pete. Now if add-on aircraft can catch up. Thanks Pete Steve
Steven Favignano For the water: some time ago there was a post on the devblog that actual 3d waves are in development for the X-Plane 11 cycle. Interesting stuff.
That would be cool, since all my videos were bush flying in the Juneau area. That's why I went back to FSX, but I could not take the flight physics anymore. By switching back and forth, you cannot believe how much better X-Plane is. Now for better add-on's. Thank's for the info German Flight Sim Channel.
I like X-Plane 11, the potential is amazing. One thing I do miss is the graphics options in XP-10, the XX settings look down right anemic in comparison. The tweak ability of 10 is great.
Nice video Froogle. The weather/clouds in XP11 still has a huge impact on the FPS. You can get rid of the haze which in some cases looks like a forest fire is ongoing, by adjusting the visibility in the weather setup. The new stock C172 in XP 11 is very nice - close if not beyond add-on aircraft quality. The sounds on that one changes as you move around it. Check it out.
Very nice. Having started with MS Flight Simulator on a Commodore 64 (back in the dawn of cyber time, pretty close to wire frame) I like where they are going. Always going to be a limited market for this (particularly in the U.S.) it is great that these people are still working on it, bringing it into the 21st Century.
Awesome video mate, just to let you know you can use shadow play to record xplane you just start with the window minimised then full screen it. (You need desktop recording enabled). Also try doing a VFR flight using the roads in a area you know well they extremely well mapped out. its also quite cool how you can see that each car has 2 separate light rather than a car just having a torch strapped on to the front.
I hope you'll do more of this, especially with some of the new airliners by default or the Cessna which has the new sound system working (and it's more shiny!)
When I fly using XPlane, there's this feeling a relief and assurance that the full capability of my PC is being harnessed. The environment becomes alive (cars, trucks and lights look realistic from afar). I don't have to worry about AI traffic greatly affecting my FPS. I just hope aircraft developers will release more crafts for XPlane. I just use P3D for procedures. For immersion, XPlane 11 is way far ahead.
I am in complete agreement with you Xplane is awesome ! Had previously tried Xplane a few times but disappointed. Now with version 11 I am REALLY EXCITED....THIS IS AWESOME I want to tell everyone in my family and I keep saying WOW look at this at which they usually reluctantly wander over to the PC and yawn ! This time they are genuinely impressed and don't yawn at all. Well done to the developers I am now waiting to see Prepar3D's response! It's going to have to be good if they want me back 😉
xplane has so many freeware airports which are stunning and for free... When I installed xpl 11 Xenviro and ixeg 737... I just straight away deleted P3D
You should install the ReShade plugin for X-Plane, it adds so much realism! And yes there are so many freeware addons and plugins for X-Plane 11 that the P3D community doesn't have. Think about the Orbx junk, we have it for free in W2XP. And how about orthophoto scenery? Yep we got that covered with Ortho4XP. How about airports? Our talented developers at the .org have that covered. And EZDok camera system? We have X-Camera. Camera shaking? We have headshake. FSUIPC (e.g. key binding, axis binding, dead zones), oh, that comes out of the box!! It's a shame that there aren't a lot of payware developers for X-Plane though. X-Plane's aircrafts in comparison are pretty bad compared to FSX/P3D, or maybe that's only because PMDG is pretty much the leader in payware aircrafts in FSX/P3D. Although PMDG did develop the DC-6, that aircraft isn't high in demand, so it didn't sell as well as expected. FSX/P3D has study level aircrafts like the 737, 777, 747 which are all very popular aircraft. The only study level aircrafts in X-Plane 11 are aircrafts that aren't very high in demand anyways such as the 733, 727, 732, upcoming CRJ200 & upcoming MD80, all are relatively low in demand compared with the 73, 74 & 77. And let's be perfectly honest. The 733 by IXEG isn't THAT good. Sure it has a good system and sounds, but it isn't finished. The exterior is ugly and there is no wing flex. There are no gimmicks that are nice to have such as animated armrests, cockpit door being openable, loading & unloading passengers, a decent pushback system, maintenance, ground equipment such as stairs & chocks, the landing gear level red hook lock thing isn't animated (I'm saying this because the FREEWARE EADT737 has that), and many other gimmicks that the Flight Factor aircrafts have. Flight factor aircrafts (757v2 & 767) have a good system simulation but it is not study level and sounds aren't very good. The FF777 is outdated and needs to be updated. The FFA350 has very bad system depth and is not very realistic. Sometimes, I wish developers would work together instead of compete against each other. If IXEG made the 767 study level and FF added the gimmicks into the 733, that would be just amazing. Aircrafts are really lacking in X-Plane. BTW I have never used FSX/P3D before and I am commenting from an X-Plane user. I am a user of X-Plane since 2014.
Wow, this looks very promising. I'm waiting for P3D v4, but I might have to get this one too; the more the merrier! The physics looks great. Thanks Froogle!
The reason there was no traffic is because you were in replay mode. For some reason traffic in replay mode is problematic. Sometimes you get traffic and sometimes you don't. Great video.
SimpilotFSX, moving traffic during replay is a memory allocation issue. Hopefully someday the team will be able to work that out. And you are correct, sometimes there's enough memory not being utilized during replay to move a few vehicles. As most of my XP films are made during replay, it's so much work to shoot and edit around those cars sitting still all over the freeways.
Hey Froogle, that hazy weather you enjoyed so much seems to be a fixture on XP11 no matter what the settings. I like to fly low and slow so as to enjoy the scenery, but it's better to do that with P3D is my experience so far.
It's stock and it looks amazing. We've been spending 100s of $$ for so long on addons for obsolete sims... This is how stock graphics should lool for nowadays standards. I'm not tossing onoe more cent on fsx or p3d. Jumping to xplane asap.
I like P3D/FSX but the settings and configurations drive me crazy. It takes too long to start flying after not doing it for a few weeks. XP11 seems to improve significantly in this aspect among many others.
Great vid! subscribed! I feel the two issues that jump out at me with XP11 are the awful clouds and awful jet engine sounds. (They need to fix the horrid CFM56 sounds on the default 737-800) Apart from that XP11 looks amazing!! The terrain specially!!
Thanks Froogle, great video. It's worth checking out xcamera for XPlane. Maybe you've seen it already but I love it, it does the EzDok type thing of letting you use camera views and TrackIR at the same time, set up external pans etc. Nothing to do with me, just thing it's worth looking at honest. Thanks for the video.
There is always a David and Goliath battle. When I was younger it was the one man developed ZX Spectrum v the night of Commodore with the 64, then came VHS with the backing of the movie studios v Betamax. FSX has always beat X-Plane because it had the backing of the developers and the fact that it had a long history, people could move to FSX and take most of the FS2004 library with them. The same happened with FSX:Steam and P3D, it was an easy transition. The question is what will happen if P3D move to 64 bit, will people move because it will be familiar, even though the addons become incompatible. Will people stay with FSX/P3D because of the cost of converting, or will people decide to move to XPlane 11. After dusting off my X-Plane 10 discs, installing and some of the freeware for X-Plane, a lot of it is comparable to the payware in FSX, I have decided to buy X-Plane 11. It is going to take 2 days to download but I will be worth it. Now all we need is some more developers to see the potential in X-Plane 11. It is a catch 22 situation, too few addons and people don't switch, not enough people switching and the developers don't see a market.
froogle, i wondering how much bitrate the encoded version video from premiere / final cut pro ? I am using Shadowplay to record 50mb bitrate, and encode from premiere for 16 VBR-1 as youtube recommend for 60fps 1080p video. If i watch yours, my videos look like 2mb bitrate.
The sim is perfect even though we know it is still in beta. But i truly believe that if(a big IF) developers would create more addons we would all forget P3D and FSX...
Dear Froogle. Another great video like as always. Can you make a full tutorial for IXEG 737? I'm still using x-plane 10 and really fall in love with that 737. ;)
so far only the cessna skyhawk in the default has the new sound system. the source engine is going to be available to addon devs to do the same to their aircraft
I'm wondering - which of the XP airliners did you actually test? And what is lacking in fidelity? That said, there are definitively less airliners available in XP, but there are some very good ones. Both in systems depth and in 3D modelling. And FSX/P3D doesn't have that many realy good airliners either. And usually with unrealistic flight model if you leave the middle of the flight envelope.
And though I do not have them myself, I heard some knowledgeable streamers/simmers (airline pilots them selves) say the CRJ and Saab and the A320 and A330 and the 727 are good too. And there are the soon to be updated 737-200 and 737-300 also. And especially if you look at the quality/price ratio there might be a reason to use XP.
Ace Rimmer in my opinion neither of those are very good compared to what I have for P3D. Why do people always turn this into an Xplane vs P3D war? Xplane community is one of its own worst enemies.
Taco Vree in my opinion there is nothing that comes close to what I have for P3D. I know the Xplane community are desperate for people to come over so the Xplane market increases but as I have so many addons for P3D I'm not ditching unless the addons for Xplane are vastly superior or at least equal and currently IMO they are not.
David Gilbert I do agree that both sims have there merits and can very well be used along side. I responded to your statement that there are no good airliners at all. This is factually not true looking at the flight model or 3D.
Seriously considering switching to X-Plane. Never got into the sim in the past. Tried it, but the interface just scared me away. Since X-Plane 11 has a new slick interface, the only (major) issue that prevented me from enjoying it, is gone. I remember when I watched the first trailer for FSX back in the day. My initial thought was "Wow! Road traffic? That's so cool! It will make the sim feel alive!" The sense of the world being alive in X-Plane 11 was what I was hoping for with FSX when it came out, but FSX mediocre performance heavy traffic just wasn't worth the frame hit. X-Plane 11 looks so much better in terms of this. I'm not going for a X-Plane vs FSX thread here, I'm just using this as an example of how I believe X-Plane 11 has finally caught up with my expectations! Waiting for the release date and some reviews, but so far it seems very promising!
froogle progress is being made add on planes scenery clouds etc i gave up fsx having like you had my 1st look at x plane 11 its a big wow what you have basic here you would have to pay for to get in fsx ok its beta but ive been a true fsx flyer for many years and have follwed you on you tube but this is just wow many have tried and have droped fsx and prepared to fly now xp11 i have x enviro weather its so good and airbus a320 neo a330 a350 767 777 yes problems but every one works helps what a sim watch the videos froogle they dont lie its still beta but its so good try it buy add ones you will inpressed and for xp11 to have you on board would be a great step forward for this great sim ,,,,,
Five dislikes already, its remarkable how close minded some simmers are. Incidentally Froogle you are welcome to join us on the biggest XP11 Facebook group. 3000+ members in less than 4 months is a testament to how popular XP11 is becoming facebook.com/groups/XPlaneNG/
Take a look at xEnviro for weather addon, the weather representation is really good I think.
XP is great but we still needed more professional addons, COME ON DEVS!
Gotta admit though, the default aircraft aren't half bad either.
Working on it, they are coming, sit tight~
Smoke me a kipper skipper!!
Where's FSFlyingSchool for X-Plane 11?
Actually there are more HQ Aircrafts then in P3D or FSX but there is a lag of Payware Scenes and in general scenes
I like these Hangar videos. Excellent Doc Brown reference: "where we're going, we don't need roads..."
Great to see you jumping up and down with such enthusiasm! Reminds me of when I bought MSFS ver 1.01 home, back in about 1982. I've never been a hardcore flight simmer, but I still remember playing around with solo flight on the C64 around the same time :D
Casey Wagner .... that's a name from the past. Was that the one where you delivered mail? .... I had a mail delivery one on C64 I think.
I am a professional pilot, but love these videos as it reminds me of how it felt to get into a cockpit for the first time on pretty much any plane...
Awesome as always!
I think xEnviro is a must add on for weather in X-Plane.
I will replace my current X-Plane once this comes out of Beta. cheers.
Froogle sounded like he was having a grand old time :)
I'm liking it a lot. I haven't touched FSX since getting into X-Plane 11 in a month. I love the night environments more in XP11, now I can practice more night flying.
you missed the fact that you can click the parking spots on the airport map to select as well
Bravo, for a first look you nailed it.
This does feel better than p3d.
Just needs more developers to come on board with study sums, weather.. The scenery using HD Mesh v3 and ortho4xp obliterates orbx payware.
IKR Scenery is amazing. The best part is that X-Plane 11 can look better with all freeware addons.
There is a saying for the PAPI, of VASI lights, "All red, your dead! All white, out of sight."

Thanks Froogle for taking us Back to the Future!
Frooglesim thank you for doing an Xplane11 video. Please do more if you have the time. ❤ your videos and thank you for the time you spend on them!
Thanks FS.
Nice quick look. I wonder if xp will ever have seasons and a weather system close to what is available on FSX and P3D...
Yay!! About time Froogle's hangar came back! thanks!!
Nice video Froogle. The weather/clouds in XP11 still has a huge impact on the FPS. Love the X Plane coverage
Been a while for Froogle's Hangar I love it
Good to see the hanger back. Was going to hang fire on upgrading to 11, You'v made me re think. Its got a lot of things I could like.
You can setup shadow play to record the Desktop and then it will also record XPlane in fullscreen. Hope it works for you!
I hope you'll do more of this, especially with some of the new airliners by default or the Cessna which has the new sound system working (and it's more shiny!)

Tried it with Flyinside? Some people get on with it, but even on low with a 1080 I find the FPS too low!
I'm stoked for the alpha version!
Do you have LOWI (Innsbruck) installed ? as when I load in I don't have any buildings. keep up the good work
Thx for the Look @ x-plane froogle, Im gonna try the demo!

I'm flying there in 4 weeks
Thanks Froogle! Are they planning on implementing VR at some point in the near future?

I was wondering, what are the specs of your Flight Sim PC? Also, does X-Plane 11 support DirectX or only OpenGL?
thanks for this. will be getting xp11 soonish. would hope for some developer to model small to midsize GA airports. like orbx for fsx.
Are you considering FSL A 320 for the Hanger slot?
Stop commenting other stuff in an X-Plane video.
Huh a U.S. Airways plane on the ground 🤔🤔🤔 did the devs not get the memo about their fate lol
froogle, i wondering how much bitrate the encoded version video from premiere / final cut pro ? I am using Shadowplay to record 50mb bitrate, and encode from premiere for 16 VBR-1 as youtube recommend for 60fps 1080p video. If i watch yours, my videos look like 2mb bitrate.
why I have no sounds when recording the flight?
You don't have to be in Window mode to use shadowplay I'm XP11. I run full screen and can start and stop recording during flight
My only gripe with XP is the lack of a global AI traffic system.
They fixed that ;)
Nope; the AI in XP11 just follows you around, as far as I know.
It's funny FROOGLE. ..how some viewers get so bungged up by small things or non procedures😨😅
The sim is perfect even though we know it is still in beta. But i truly believe that if(a big IF) developers would create more addons we would all forget P3D and FSX...
Denny Vastenburg ...... sorry but you need to fix those horrendous skies before you can call this perfect. It is very impressive in all other aspects.
Now it is perfect :) It has new default clouds
Dear Froogle. Another great video like as always.
Can you make a full tutorial for IXEG 737?
I'm still using x-plane 10 and really fall in love with that 737.
;)
Stop using X-Plane 10! get to XP11, you won't regret it.
so far only the cessna skyhawk in the default has the new sound system. the source engine is going to be available to addon devs to do the same to their aircraft
The 737 also has FMOD now, but you have to get it somewhere ;)
Is there any difference in X Plane 11 when you purchase from Steam or from the X Plane website?
Fun video :)
Thanks
What's your hardware setup? Looking to run this as my only flight sim.
Like mountains? Try good old airport "PSO". NEar chachigui Columbia
Xplane looks good might get it for helicopters but it still doesn't have any very good high fidelity airliners. Definitely interesting times ahead.
Is xp 11better than xp 10? I still use FSXSE also thanks
nice BTTF reference
Seriously considering switching to X-Plane.
Never got into the sim in the past. Tried it, but the interface just
scared me away. Since X-Plane 11 has a new slick interface, the only
(major) issue that prevented me from enjoying it, is gone.
I remember when I watched the first trailer for FSX back in the day. My
initial thought was "Wow! Road traffic? That's so cool! It will make the
sim feel alive!" The sense of the world being alive in X-Plane 11 was
what I was hoping for with FSX when it came out, but FSX mediocre
performance heavy traffic just wasn't worth the frame hit. X-Plane 11
looks so much better in terms of this. I'm not going for a X-Plane vs
FSX thread here, I'm just using this as an example of how I believe
X-Plane 11 has finally caught up with my expectations!
Waiting for the release date and some reviews, but so far it seems very
promising!
Jonas Becsan I jumped ship from p3d today the interface makes a big difference
And it's not even the final version yet!
Jonas Becsan my only issues now are getting AI traffic and planes that I want I can't find a hs748 or a VC 10 lol
Hello,
In the beta currently only the cessna has the new sound model activated. I am not sure if others have been yet or not.
The 737 also has FMOD :)
Excellent Mate!
Thanks

Hello Pete
You must untick the VSync to have better framerate :)
"Let me X-Plane..." xD
Looks good
Five dislikes already, its remarkable how close minded some simmers are. Incidentally Froogle you are welcome to join us on the biggest XP11 Facebook group. 3000+ members in less than 4 months is a testament to how popular XP11 is becoming facebook.com/groups/XPlaneNG/
No one cares
***** Ok

Funny that you think people on the internet do things, like hit thumbs down, for rational and/or understandable reasons.
Wny doent the prop sync indicator work?

what system are you running on froogle mate
So is XP 11 better than XP 10?
Was this froogles hanger or a xplane 11 review?

Nope, not required. You can have both installed at the same time. I purchased XP11 online and the key lets me run both XP11 and XP10.
