nothing is indestructible so this blade passes my expectations - i feel confident that this blade can get me out of a tight spot - great blade - thanks for the testing
This knife would out perform any ZT Gerber Benchmade etc. Better performance at an affordable price. Nice job Cold Steel. And nice job sir for making these videos, helping us knife lovers to choose our next purchase.
Personally for me the knife passed the test with flying colors. It's always a compromise. If the blade is thick at the spine, edge and tip then it's stronger but it's less of a slicer. Now if the blade is thin at the spine, edge and tip then it's weaker but it's a great slicer/stabber. Considering the primary purpose of this knife it's self defense I will take the more acute tip which is better for stabbing over a thicker tip. If someone's intent is hard use then this person will be better served by the 4 Max Scout.
i have the smallest version of this knife as my edc, its an awesome sturdy small blade, i love how you test these knives cause i sure as shit wont be doing this to my knife haha, so thank you!!
That was an amazing test I have been a little bit resistant as to actually buy this piece but think I now just might make the purchase. Thank you JOE X
@Steve Hill very liberal, no double edge though and there are very few no-knife zones. We are the opposite of Germany in that aspect. The Counterpoint XL is ok to carry as long as you stay legally in Austria.
He's mad He's bad Joe the beast has done it yet again another knife goes to the knife 🔪 graveyard, cold steel make awesome xl knifes , thumb stud always weak point on most folding knife, very entertaining Joe always look forward to you videos 📹 👍 😉 😀 👏 👌.
I like that knife. It is for combat, for sure. But I wonder that the penetration from it is not so good at the car. But the AUS10 steel is very good - as always. I think the breaking is ok because it has not that much thickness. All in all, it is a good knife for the money. I have never regretted buying it.
Another Joe X Video showing how bad ass Cold Steel Tri-Ad Folders are. This Video shows that these are tempered more for edge holding. I would totally trust this Folder in a Combat situation. Another great Tri-Ad Folder! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Laughed when the tip broke and you yelled 😂 I have used my Counterpoint XL well not the way you do in youre test. I really like the edge retention and locking mechanism as well. Awesome ergonomics in the handle. I will make a new wooden handle to my own knife when I have the energy and time. I really like this one.
I've been a student of kali and escrima for a long time, I have a extensive knife collection, benchmade bastenelli spyderco Randall A.G Russell Microtech you name it, my daily carry folder is and has been a Coldsteel counter point 1 for a long time, it's an excellent knife for every day use and selfdefense if need be.
Been using Cold Steel since the late 80s and i have alot of everything. Carried a Carbon V SRK through my 12 years of military service, still use it. Have many knives and many brands but i would grab one of several Cold Steel knives in a end of world scenario. Trust them with my survival, at least my old used and trusted ones (SRK, Trailmaster, Recon Scout, others).
Well the bending test was quite obvious that it broke but there was some flex, not like mora robust, but some. I actually bought the knife to inspect it more closely.
That could be a cool addition, to have an armor penetration scale, ( obviously worded better than That! It's doubtful you'll ever see a little advertising label rating a product's *rated an 8/10 for dealing with "ambiguous private security types" during the camp round up" , something like testing back spike penetration on various sized van tires, you could open the video with a Robocop evening news interlude of all different bits of civil unrest footage, everywhere from Johannesburg to east Timor, Dagestan to Damascus, scenes of grainy footage of white U.N light armor vehicles/4-tonner tires ablaze as a geezer in a pre Geneva convention ( asbestos filters!) Soviet/4-chan era gas mask, flees the scene giving a thumbs up.
On the Cold Steel ti lite it has the little serrated hump on the spine, it would be cool to see Cold Steel use that instead of the thumbstud, it is waveable too
I have the counter point xl and Luzon xl couple of different types of ti lites wicked looking knives /pocket swords Wouldn't use them for anything but they look wicked .something to show friends and family .being in the uk It won't be long before there put on a firearm license infact im pretty sure they have slowed down the flipper action on the ti lites ar least so they get through customs its a grey area Now if there considered a flick knife here I bought a cheap copy of the ti lite of ali express flips out beautifully but the real ones are were very sticky dont know if any body else has noticed this?
@@joex no need to apologize Joe, take your time. I'll watch your other videos while waiting, honestly though, your channel has got to be one of the best channels for people like us who want to know more about how tough knives can/could be, keep up the excellent work! 👍
The factory edge of Cold steel AUS10 seems to break or fold easily when hacking a semi frozen Turkey. After sharpening the steal seems to go dull quickly. I'm not impressed with their AUS10 edge retention.

If it wasn't a question before, now we're getting confirmation that yes, the thumbstud is a structural weakness. I'd like to see more companies designing with a "hump" on the spine behind the thumbstud.
@@DL-ij7tf Some Spyderco knives are fine with the hole when the blade is distal tapered, when the primary blade profile is thin enough the Spyder Hole doesn't fail until half the blade is already gone, and Spyderco is best know for geometry like that (Military Model) so it suits them well.
