Family ordered a 69 wildcat. It had a factory 455. Epa or the like said 1970 emissions met. Etc. It had a egr . they has it untill the early 80s. Lots of great memories...
We had the wildcat with the 455 4V coffee brown Black interior, no air Made 360 hp at 4600m rpm,500 ft torque MONSTER for the time. beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
I have a 70 4 door...My dad gave me his Buick ,the family cruiser used solely for long distance family outings only. It was 1977 forgot the modle but true land boat..Soon after in my possession i launched a deer 200 feet. And gave it to my nephew for high school mechanics class. Ended up fixed and back on the road.
Back in the mid 70's when I was an apprentice mechanic my mate bought the Wildcat GT Coupe..he had it a while then bought a Mercury Cougar convertible...not bad for a mid 20's London kid huh.
We had Chevrolet and Pontiac, nearly bought an Olds, never looked at Buick, but I did drive a few. Definitely a nice G M line, at the time the car here was built. Nowadays, they’re just another Chevrobuillac on the road.
430's actual HP was closer to 420 according to dyno tests from Scotty Guadagno. The 430's quadrajet primaries were leaned so if you had the "highway gear" 2.56 you could have about 21 mpg. These were the most advanced engines coming out of Detroit at that time.
Michael A. Joseph, II did the same mod to my qjet on my 1974 455 Electra 225 2 door hard top and recurved and replaced springs in my hei distributor .advanced timing installed 180 f thermostat went from 12 mpg to 22 highway and I had 2.56 gears . I used to do the same thing to my dads Buick’s and olds he be mad because you would spin the wheels wit the slightest touch of the gas pedal . I worked at a gm car dealership from 1967 to 1975 from age 13 to 21 learned a lot had new car in high school , took shop manuals home to study became a qjet wizard love those carbs have one on my modified supercharged 1976 L82 vette
My dad had a 66 wildcat 4 door sport sedan, when I was 15 yrs old, when he was in the shower,I would take his keys and drive it around the block, before he finished his shower.
spam lite Put your top and windows down when it’s 95 degrees and see how you like it! You would beg for air conditioning in Your blistering black car! You would have been one too cheap to spring for a/c!
the wildcat kind of became closer to a Biscayne unfortunately big on horsepower lower on luxuries. by this time if you wanted AC you got either a LeSabre or a Electra. just like with the Biscayne you got yourself either an Impala or a Caprice for the most part.
talk about ''ALL original''---did this featured car come from the factory with L-O-N-G chrome tailpipes under the rear bumper ?? We have a low mileage 2-door 1967 Buick Electra 225 with that 430 CID V-8, 360 hp bitching, maun !! and AND = G60 x 15's front and L60 x 15''s rear + original hub caps WE GET 25 MPG on the FWY
Jose Saldana I had 74 park ave 2 door hardtop 455 only got 13 mpg but I reworked distributor and Qjet and got around 21 highway and increased power loved the car .
Jose Saldana all the car manufacturers detuned there cars starting in 1971 buy 1974 they were getting poor power and gas mileage the compression dropped also ,I found you could super tune them back to 1970 specs except compression and make power come back as well timing ,distributor rework ,carb rework and rejet , lower temp of t stat from 195 f to 180 f this kept spark knock at bay
Yeah, it's a brownish-Maroon color with an all black interior, the only problem is that the AC doesn't work well, because I can't use R12 in it anymore, which is bad for me, because I live in the states where it gets pretty hot and the black leather doesn't help much.

When cars had style and you could differentiate between the models and manufacturers.

Electra 225 was the top of the line of Buicks.

American designed cars are the best till 80s.
Good video love how you show the buicks alot of love

360hp Was under rated! I put 1 of these in a 81 2 door Impala what fun!
I've had two Buick convertibles in my time and I'm jonesing for another!
The car my family had and grew up with! Loved it!
In 1969 my buddy's dad worked for Gene Hagen Buick in Walnut Creek, California. We were teenagers cruising in all the new Buicks.
Very nice, definitely a quality automobile. I'd love to cruise around town in that beast...
Beautiful Buick

Chevrobuillac lol !
If I remember correctly they used two of these engines to jump start the Lockhead SR-71 Blackbird.
Good information from a car enthusiast who sounds a little like Steve Buscemi.
My Uncle owned a Red and white Buick Wildcat Convertible.
Beautiful car. Great color combo
Love it! Chief Designer Harley Earle drove a 38 Buick Yjob
This is an awesome GM powerplant. The same one that is in my '68 Electra 225 2-Door Hardtop.
Great one Retro!
A have a buick 15 years is Great car a love buick
My 69 Olds 98 convertible had a 455.

430 67 to 69, the 455 came out in 1970

My dad had a 66 wildcat 4 door sport sedan, when I was 15 yrs old, when he was in the shower,I would take his keys and drive it around the block, before he finished his shower.
Awesome
What a wonderful car, I didn't know this car continues into 69
I have a 4 door, 455, 1970
yeah they killed the cat in 70.
Electra wasn't entry level, that was Buick's top of the line.
IF.........america still did this for design we would buy.......but, PC just will not allow it
No air conditioning? Why?
We were much tougher then
That could be! Still on that class of car it really should have A/C. If it were a Buick Special convertable it wouldn’t
matter much.

Just bought one to restore.. does anyone know where the choke is on this car? Lol
I believe it was the Oldsmobile that the Chinese were buying
455 came out in 1970 not 69
