    I only discovered your channel a few days ago and I am loving everything I've watched. Thank you. You may already own one, but there is a screw on mason jar lid with a handle and spout that turns the jars into a "pitcher." You might find it handy for that large jar you are pouring water from. (I love mine) A word of caution on the peppers in adobe sauce. They really pack a punch so be cautious of those recipes that call for a lot of them until you know how much your family likes. When you do your next video- can you comment on how the meats turned out since you are using cooked meat to begin with? Was the meat dry or tough, etc? Thank you

      Welcome to the channel! ❤️ Ooh, that pitcher accessory sounds wonderful! Thank you for the tip on the peppers. :) I'll do my best to include commentary on the meat texture in that video (writing a reminder now). 🙂

      @@foodprepguide Yeah the lid is awesome! It can turn them into even more functional household items- small or large pitchers, a 'gravy boat' that even young kiddos can use at the table, a nice way to store things in the fridge and even just a way to mix dressings and such (and then pour). I recommend the 4 packs LOL

    Thank you for all the great recipes! I mix some chopped up peppers in adobo sauce with mayo to put on a chicken patty sandwich. I’ve been following you for a while and been watching how much your channel has grown, so happy for you!😊

    I take the leftover chili in adobo sauce and blend it. Then put in ice cube trays to later add to black beans or taco meat one cube at a time. No waste and wonderful taste!

    I was thinking with the Philly Cheese Steak you could do a modified mac and cheese casserole. Either create a cheese sauce or layer shredded cheese on top of cooked macaroni with the meat mixture and bake.

    How do you make it with the raw meat? How do you know how much water to add, since the meat will make liquid when canning it? Do you use less water? I prefer raw pack but have never done it with any veggies because of the need for liquid.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  22 дні тому +1

      I was unsure of that, too, but Ball has several meals in jars using raw meat in their 2016 book. They say to top with water to 1 inch headspace despite the fact that raw meat is used. 🤷‍♀️

    The chilis in adobo sauce are hot! 🤪 At least I think they are hot, and I kinda like some heat. I’ve made the chipotle beef recipe from Ball Canning, and it’s excellent! Hubba loves it over rice or for tacos.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  26 днів тому +2

      I’m thinking about serving it over a bed of rice but I’m always down for a taco! Lol

    • @Jen-CelticWarrior
      @Jen-CelticWarrior 26 днів тому

      @@foodprepguide , you’ll have to try the recipe for canning spicy pork. It’s really not very heat/spicy, so the kids would like it. It’s another one of those that’s great over rice or potatoes, and yes, tacos as well!😋💕

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  25 днів тому

      Absolutely! In fact, raw packed is preferred.

  • @teresawebster3498
    @teresawebster3498 25 днів тому +2

    You should label your lids with a permanent marker before you prep them, then you can just put the lid that goes with the jar you are canning. Less confusion when they come out of the canner.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  25 днів тому

      I believe soy protein and soy bean is used in most beef bouillon powders and cubes. You might consider mushroom powder or nutritional yeast as a substitute

  • @jennlphilips-schoknecht1333

    Are you using pre processed venison for these recipes? So the protein is being double processed?

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  12 днів тому +1

      Yes, because I was out of fresh/frozen venison. Ordinarily, I would use fresh, raw venison, which is what I recommended in the video. 🙂

  • @susiea1419

    I was wondering - doesn’t the meat turn to mush when twice pressure canned?

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  25 днів тому

      No, it doesn't. Many vegetables do. But, in this case, "canned" meat is simply "cooked" meat. (It was put in raw and cooked during the canning process.)

  • @pennywillis8895
    @pennywillis8895 25 днів тому +1

    🇦🇺You should mark the jar lids before you pressure can them when making different recipes to help you know what each jar is.

  • @shortcake1463
    @shortcake1463 26 днів тому +4

    I never knew you could put cooked meat in. I thought processing it again would overcook it.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  26 днів тому +1

      It typically stays tender as long as there’s enough liquid in the jar. 🙂 But if I were to run a whole canner load dedicated to one recipe, I would definitely use raw meat (if I had it on hand).
