After getting my ear piercings shot, I recently purchased Van Cleef and Arpels earrings. These, just like these studs, have a post diameter of 1.2 mm. I am thankful that I got such thick ear holes pierced.

I agree with you about the thickness of the post, because it was 1.2mm thick and l never struggled to get new earrings in my ear piercing hole. My son, age 12, recently got both ears pierced at Claire's using the studex gun and studs. Since he has finished the healing process, he has struggled to get some new earrings into his piercing holes. In fact he was unable to get some studs with thicker posts through his earlobes. When l checked his studex ear piercing studs against my old caflon ear piercing stud, l found the studex posts were much thinner at only 0.8mm rather than the caflon's 1.2mm. To resolve this issue we have purchased a pack of Caflon 4mm, stainless steel, clear cz stone, ear piercing studs off the internet. When they arrived my wife and I slowly pushed them into and through his earlobe piercings. It took a bit of pushing but we managed to get them in. That was 1 week ago and he's keeping them in for 5 more weeks and hopefully his holes will be big enough to take thicker post earrings after this. I just can't help feeling it would save a lot of hassle if shops went back to the older type of ear piercing studs, with the thicker posts. My wife got her ears pierced in the mid 80's which is when I got my ear pierced and she never experienced any of the above problems that our son has.
It seems to me that the model already has holes in her ears, in the left you can also see a second hole. Am I wrong? I have 3 for lobe done with the gun and everything went well.Can your gun also pierce the helix cartilage?

You're actually trained not to need them. If caflon is used correctly you do not touch the clients skin or the piercing with your hands at all... this not surprisingly is more hygienic than wearing gloves.

@@ieevux that was my experience when l got my left ear pierced with one of these guns. A pinch as the earlobe was pierced, followed by a hot stinging feeling for a few seconds and then nothing. My mate who had his ear pierced before me, said it was really painful. I couldn't believe how quick and how painless it was.
No please don't, guns will shatter your cartilage and you are more prone to infections and keloids, go to a tattoo shop where they actually do it properly with a sterilized needle, and it hurts less and heals better

@@nazihcosmetics Sorry but no, piercing guns do not actually pierce your skin, they use blunt force and basically shove a cheap nickel low quality earring through your skin and guns cannot be sterilized properly because they are plastic, while a percing needle actually makes a hole in your ear and pushes the skin back for the earring to fit, it is sterilized properly and needle piercings are mostly done by liscensed professionals who know what they are doing, no matter how safely you use piercing guns you will always be more prone to infections/keloids/crust/rejection etc.., so spending some extra bucks to get e needle piercing is way better, trust me
the safest way is with a single use ollow neede which slices through and doesnt use blunt force trauma like a gun does

You could but it is very risky. The gun could shatter your cartilage and that would do irreversible damage
