    Probably the best race I've seen on your channel so far, Jimmy! Absolutely fantastic, not a moment to blink an eye! I don't know how it looks from your position (I can imagine it being frustrating quite often), but I don't mind them all going Merc against your underperforming Bimmer -- the underdog racing makes for immense thrills and really shows your quality as a driver! Way to go, Jimmer!

    Find it very strange that iRacing that should be "so close to the real thing", don't lock your car when you have entered an series (or at least limit the number of changes to 1).
    Almost every online league apply this rule in AC and rF2. Should not be an limit in software, sounds more like an cheap "pay to win" feature if it is correct.
    Great race and video Jimmy, keep em coming :)

      Means they sell all the cars in a series. They do it for the money. Money above immersion and realism.

    I know I’m a year behind on this Jimmy, you said you were running very little aero, but have you tried playing with the gearing? A little longer gearing would give you the top end on the straights, you’d just have to adjust your line so that you’re able to hold higher speed through the corners

    It seems a bit unfair that you lost some iRating in a crash that had literally nothing to do with and was impossible to avoid.

    • @jackedrussell

      Joey sukhi He wouldn't have avoided the crash, he just would have hit the car slightly slower.

    • @the1sH0
      @the1sH0 7 років тому

      the last time another car lost controll in the pit entry and got on track ... NO way for him to evade and he lost rating... thats just bullshit... i mean no points because no finish but this was even for a system way to easy to detect that there is no fault at jimmys side in that case..... shure for a algorythm its hard sometimes so deside things like that, but it seams that iracing doesnt even try - i got into a crash = lose points, u it something = lose points.......

    • @BrKnOblivion
      @BrKnOblivion 7 років тому +6

      Not to be rude, but it's more a misunderstanding of the SR system. If the system was based off fault then yes it would be overly harsh from a penalty point of view, however it's not. It's an incident recording system it records participation in incidents not fault in incidents, which is actually very similar to real life. Even if you aren't at fault if you are involved in an incident at a race track you'll get a record of that incident on your license history.
      The other factor is that the SR system is historical. It has a weighting based off the last X number of races (number is thought to be 20 but is still unknown to me). Which means if you had a bad race 20 races ago and a slightly less bad race that race you'll actually gain SR relative, however if you get 2 incident points and the race being knocked off the list was a 0 incident race then you'll still lose SR even if it wasn't really worth it. There's a much better breakdown of it on the forum's but that's the gist of it at least.
      It's one of the things that nearly all new drivers complain about (I did too!) as it's a misunderstanding of how the system works, brought about by the name of the system. I should be called something like your Incident Record or something like that instead of Safety Rating.
      Really though SR evens out if you are a smooth driver anyway, bad races are offset by good ones and you'll naturally end up with an SR of what you should have. TBH Jimmy worries about the offtracks a little too much IMO and could even use them more tactically at the end of races like this one.

    • @swapode
      @swapode 7 років тому +2

      TrixX PC Gaming You are right about the basic misunderstanding. Just to clarify: SR is a derivate of CPI (corners per incident) which keeps track of your incidents during your last 1000 corners or so -- a single long but clean race can massivly boost your SR, in the le mans 24 hours I went from something like A2.5 to A4.99 because there are not many off track opportunities and after a few hours the field tends to spread out so there aren't many close battles going on (and people tend to be a bit more careful and forgiving than in a sprint race).
      SR and thus the license are calculated from that CPI value and is basically a representation of how statistically safe you are which is pretty much all that can be hoped for from an automated system. An improvement might be possible with some kind of machine learning though.
