Yes, we are using this for a couple of times now and you can check on my vlogs uploaded in my channel. So far, we are not experiencing any leaks or water drips coming inside the tent.

One pair is included. I bought another for the outer part, though each time I camp, I don't use this built-in awning because I usually set up a bigger awning on top of the tent.

Correct, there is no outer cover, but it has been tested. So far, during every camping trip and every time it rains, there have been no leaks or water coming in.
