DIY Paper Dahlia Tutorial - My Wedding Backdrop Flowers

The shape of each piece of paper is a rhombus-like shape cut from a 3"x3" square. Your dahlia is going to be just gorgeous using squares so you do not need to create this shape (trust me, it's faster too!).
** I don't know why this bothers me so much but the shape it's not a TRUE rhombus, although I keep calling it one! A rhombus has equal sides, similar to a diamond. I should've probably said KITE shaped! **

I made these today and they turned out beautiful. And your tip regarding the rhombus shape is excellent! The petals are elegant and pointy. I made 3*3 squares and later cut the sides to give the diamond shape. It’s time consuming but the result is just worth it! I ran out of petals when I reached the centre so made extra smaller ones which luckily gave a perfect finishing.

I love the Dahlia flower. It is such a beautiful flower! I have them in all of my flowers, bouquets and center pieces for my wedding in 2005.
You could draw a circle or a series of circles on the circle you glue them down to so as to create a baseline on where your cones go. Gorgeous work!! I may start making myself a wall of flowers as I try these!

It would be easier for you to place your petals more evenly if you draw a circle on the paper that you use as the base for the flower.

Really BeAutiFULL design
very nice and beautiful
To avoid having to lay the petals out first just fold the circle in half then half again, then place a small circle in the center that's the size you want the opening to be, and temp glue it using a tiny ball of putty or playdoh. Use that circle as your guide for the first outer row of petals. Pull off the circle when you're ready to go onto the next rows. 💮💓
