Next time when applying a bright blue to a black laptop is putting down a couple coats of white on. that will make it where the blue is brighter and wont take 50+ coats
I don't know if spraying down made a difference but there was clumps because the can was cold. The edge started to come off after rubbing on surfaces while I was using it, so I peeled it off.
Yo stefan what is the laptop you used in this video, because i have an acer 5742 (close to this one) and it has a grooved cover like the one in this video and i was wondering if i tried to spray painted it with normal paint, will it ruin the paint? Because i dont have plasti dip and i am not sure if paint shops have them.
+Farid Nicolas Wakim Painting it would be a more permanent thing to do. You can't just take it off when you want. It is also a lot more involved and required sanding, prepping and a more careful application. You also might need to spray down primer or clear coat depending on the paint you choose and the type of finish you are looking for.
I got white cans and thankfully its "matte", not shiny, will look great. I never say i buy expensive things, what i say is that they are expensive FOR ME cuz im broke, thats different!! Now have to decide if i should go coolermaster or corsair on the fans, CM would save me money, but corsair will look better, not sure.
Hey Stefan^^ how long did the plasti-dip last? also, did you carry it in a bag or just so? I already asked this on /r/plastidip but maybe you know an answer, I also want to dip the inside, but there are some deep holes(3mm) what material would you recommend for filling these? After that I though, I just repolish and dip it? Thanks! :D
how did the cote hold up? i'm thinking of plasti dipping my laptop but i take it with me in my backpack almost daily, it has a seperate compartiment for the laptop but still. dont want the dip to scratch or come lose after a few weeks or months.

I need help. I did this yesterday with my girlfriend and we did like 4-5 HEAVY coats of black and it looks awful right now. Keep in mind that we didn't go THAT heavy like making it drip each time, just making it wet. The first coat i guess we should've only made really light and then the rest of the coats heavy. I don't know. We did it in my garage with the door open for ventilation since we don't have face masks and it got loads of dust and small pieces of grass on it. it looks bad. Any help on how to do it for the next time we try? probably gonna do black again and then sometime do blaze orange or green. Any tips for the matte black though?
Keep your coats fairly light. Do many coats for durability and keep it in a clean place. Make sure you clean it nicely before you apply plasti dip. Also if you must keep a door open, get it as far away from the doorway as possible.
+ThatFirstBaseMan the first coat thin is always good as a tack coat, depending on the surface (i always do wet coats, just not to the point of runny) but towards the end you will want to use heavy, wet coats or you'll have texture...it wont be the flat, matte black you want, rather textured, kind of like rhino liner.
@@stefantrajkov9085 that's ok but you didnt show us the tape or sticker you pasted on the logo and just started painting . By the way thanks for replying
he sounded very sad at the end...
Thank you for not putting super loud obnoxious music over the video.

@@max4865 your base cost affects the final colour
cost?
@@SWFCite cost man >? cost ? huuunhh !!??
the finished part looks like it was made from a carbon fiber vinyl sticker. lmaooo
yes, it is, check the corners of the laptop, this video is totally a lie.
Once you are done with the white, make sure to let it dry completely before applying the blue. Good luck!
lol, stumbled on your vid as I am looking to repaint my acer too. Good shade of blue.
Really beautiful man!
What did you use to remove the paint from the acer emblem?
I wanted to ask either

VERY NICE IDEA.........VOW!!! I LIKE IT
He should have painted it white, then blue that way it doesnt come out so dark.
I think that it turned out great! :D
I know this is a very old video but I think it looks good..
Oh I think I'll just use white as base paint, like 3 coats and maybe 2 coats of blue so its ligther, since they're the same paint after all.
Did you use more than one can? It looks really good!
You can try 1 or 2 coats of white underneath it. I did that with green in another one of my videos.
I find plasti dip is quite a bit easier to use. Just do lights coats and overlap your pattern about 50%.
Good job bro, 👍
I waited 30 minutes between each coat.
Hey how do you get a lighter shade of blue with this one ?
how much time did you wait in between each coat?
World Rally Blue right there!
Yeh thanks :D
what modle was your laptop?
good job

It's not easier to put a vinyl on it than crazy
how do u think this would turn out if i plasti dip my keyboard keys? Obviously I would remove them 1st.
how do you clean the logo after painting?
30 latas después ya pudo pintar toda la tapa de la laptop.
Nice work. Ragarding the edges - I guess it would be better to remove the lcd cover and dip it separately. The removal is rather simple.
Edman or spend $10 and get a skin or shell for the laptop
Tanner 1126
It’s kinda hard to get a skin for a laptop. some laptops aren’t very popular so they have no skins available.

hm like no one ever takes their laptops apart to spray
No sé, pero no te creo. :-p
I Liked!
How did you got the logo "clean"again?
I guess he cut around the letters and peeled of the Plasti dip :)
exacto knife here and there and it peels off easy
***** nope, it's really easy, literally just rub it hard and peel and it comes off.
Just sand it down with a 5000 grade sand paper
can you tell me It's colour code??

+Joop van Bree I never tried putting in in a backpack but I would assume that the rubbing might start lifting the edges of the plasti dip.
+Stefan WRX okay thanks. Probably going to give this a try in a few weeks.
Curious, how did it go?
10 to 15 is fine also

what modle is your Acer laptop beacuse I'm getting one from my friend and he doesn't know what modle it is but it looks exactly like yours
+BIGNASTY 1000 I don't remember what model that laptop was but Acer has used that style casing for many models in the past.

did you sand your laptop first? or directly applied the paint?
No sanding.

I was hoping the can exploded when you heated it up.

okay sounds good. i think i will do it in my screen room next time and use some more glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean it
Lots of thin coats is far better than a few thick coats.

how do you removed the paint from acer logo the final product is a proper coloured skin not painted
You just peel that section off

@@AayZeeHacks No need to tape or sticker. Plasti dip will separate at hard edges, if anything, a little persuasion with a sharp blade might be needed.

First use white spary then use blue one

Do you have to take the laptop apart? And is there any risk of it failing
Did not have to take it apart. Just cover any area you don't want to plasti dip. Make sure you clean the surface well
Is this safe for the laptop? It doesn't damage it?
+LadyCakes AJ This is completely safe to use on a Laptop cover. It does no damage at all and can be taken off at any time.
What if I just sprayed it right on top of the laptop? I can't find any covers for my laptop (Unless I want crocodile leather, which um no lmao)
