A must have tank for any serious model maker. The Stug III is one of my favorites because of its super low profile. That made them extra deadly. Great footage once again.
Not officially a tank, but one the best looking self-propelled anti-tank guns for sure, the Jagdpanzer IV, Hetzer, low profile ambushers, the IV L70 being my favorite.
I do love these compilations. They give me so much reference material and inspiration when I make my dioramas. Thanks for all your hard work, time and effort putting these together.
Very innovative design, todays tanks are all the same with only slight changes separating them. Back in the day they tried everything and anything. Excellent footage.
they let me inside a Hetzer at the everett tank museum ....and they were so cramped.... the loader had to reach OVER the breach to load the cannon ...because they had to flip it so it could go left/right a tiny bit more --- I COULD NOT imagine being in one and getting shot at .. ugh ... really really brave soilders back then
The village in the first 20 seconds, I recognize as a village, that a know well. I hade to pass it for my trip to work every day. It's located almost in the center of (grand duchy of) Luxembourg. The name labeled on the Hotel, made me take a closer look. In fact: "Larochette" is the name of the village.
I'm really sorry that I saw this period footage of the StuG III in various variants, from the Blitzkrieg way to the waning year of war. It is always a pleasure to watch the StuG III in action. Thank you for sharing this very interesting video 👍👍👍👍
Great combat footage. My Opa was fortunate to survive fighting on the eastern front in Army Group South all the way down to Sevastopol n Maikop oilfields. I have a couple of photos of him on the eastern front both in winter.
6:30 - clip from Finland’s (note Finn’s armored id -black&white short arm swastika) defensive war 1944 southern Karelian isthmus. Against overwhelming odds against Soviets successful attacks. After major withdraw. Even though people believed Finland won defensive victory. Soviets were able to force Finland sue for peace, as its last defensive lines were almost breached. With German help Finns kept their nation free and independent. Avoiding Soviets taking over whole nation. However Soviets forced Finns to declare war against Germany. While giving Germans six months to leave Finnish Lapland.
There’s lots of Stug stories in the Schiffer Press “Panzer Aces” book. Contrary to popular belief, the short barrelled “stump” was well capable of knocking out allied tanks.
I had a random thought when watching a Ferdi video recently and it was would they have worked better if they had been teamed up with a platoon of Stugs? Stugs out front and Ferdi behind
Seems like the StuG should have been the German main mass produced tank...especially with the different barrel combo's, track armor covers and low profile.
@@PanzerInsight Yea, I know. But in that square they are in and because its in black and white, they almost look like models. Video resolution is awful of course.
Thats why you have the mute button. And for your information this is all orginal newsreel sound edited in during WW2, the clip at 2:50 is actual real audio recorded then and there.

@@OneofInfinity.That I know. I was just keeping it simple for those that don't know the difference.
Glad you found the footage helpfull, happy modeling.
Later in the war Guderian (while he was Inspector General of Armoured Troops from early 1943) transferred the StuG's to the panzer corps...@tileux
what brand do you recommend ? i haven't built one yet.
Tiger and Panther are legends but StuG is the real OG 💪
Great footage! Thank you for putting it together and sharing.
You're welcome.
It was designed as infantry support and clearly it did its job
I do love these compilations. They give me so much reference material and inspiration when I make my dioramas. Thanks for all your hard work, time and effort putting these together.
Glad you like them Nick and happy modeling
Love these old films!
That Beast definitely demands attention ,,!

Outstanding footage. Thanks for posting.
You're welcome
Listen with headphones on loud, it’s pretty terrifying.
2:35 Interestingly, when the stug was covered in leaves and bushes, it looked like it wasn't a tank, there it was, rather, a rock covered in foliage.
StuG life!
Wife: Go buy something for the dinner now
Me: I am watching a StuG vid..
Wife: Say no more!
Reenactment at 2:49? Those tanks rounds don’t seem to have much oomph behind them…
It's actually a propaganda film with staged battles in Warsaw.
@@PanzerInsight okay! That makes sense!! Thanks for responding! You are doing fantastic work!!
@@ImJeff1965Thank you Jeff, I had already responded but YT even finds it necessary to place my comments in the spambin.
8:30 not the guys first rodeo 👍

By product of scarce resources both in materials and mostly time towards the end of the war..
you got love the stug !!!!

Stug workhorse ! Great vid, thanks for sharing mate 👍
2:55 Hetzer with the comically underwhelming fire!
Continuer comme ça fait parti de l' histoire 👍
The mainstay of Wehrmacht armor.
2:50 I think those might be toys!!! No recoil at all.
They are actaul vehicles in Warsaw, it's from a film made after the Warsaw battle and it's pretty much staged.
@@PanzerInsight Lol,,,interesting. You can tell by the smoke and recoil.
The smoke and sound is all really a give away.
Praha 1945 ??
very very great video great shots thank you very much very interesting 👍👌😎👍👌😎👍👌

El Stug fue el mejor blindado alemán, pequeño, rápido, barato y muy poderoso...
Great combat footage. My Opa was fortunate to survive fighting on the eastern front in Army Group South all the way down to Sevastopol n Maikop oilfields. I have a couple of photos of him on the eastern front both in winter.
This was a great tank design.
great footage. Danke
Very lethal
Very nice 👍

Indeed, the full reel is also here on this channel.
Awesome video!!!! Get SOME!!!!
Thats my favorite next to the Hetzer !
Same chassi
@@ristorantanen5769no
@@ristorantanen5769not at all. StuGIII was built on a Panzer III chassis, and the Hetzer on the Czech 38T chassis.

They say that it's all about "the girth"!
Unsere tapferen Soldaten 😊😊😊
That is no original sound. The PK Cameras had no Microphone, the sound was added later in the Studio.
Indeed, but it's orginal newsreel sound, the clip at 2:50 is actaul real audio recorded at that time.
Hey all Stuggies!
I love you!
🥰
Sehr Interessant.
I’ve always thought the Stugs were badass!
2:46 What a tough guy!?
StuG III Stummel 😁
@6:37 a Stug operated by Finns.
I had a random thought when watching a Ferdi video recently and it was would they have worked better if they had been teamed up with a platoon of Stugs? Stugs out front and Ferdi behind
I think this was already the case, but the Ferdies needed infantry protection.
@@PanzerInsight I guess my thought was they should have been far enough back so as not to be overrun or being in range of a T34
Great video.
Impressive! Wish I was there!!
(paraphrase: Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd)
They were part of the Artillery units in a lot of cases. That's probably why they don't get as much recognition.
A footslogger’s best friend.
The gunner in the Herzer had wet powder?
Waadup my stugz
Was that Otto the Stug @ 2 14?
It’s a Stug life !!
That Stug was quite the workhorse for the Germans ,the Sherman was for the US
Panzer IV... Hold my beer.
Such a short barrel. That was a pretty low velocity round.
Stug started off as a bunker buster turned into a td later
2.57 intresting little models.
Those aren't models, it's actaully a scene from a film made in Warsaw.
Could the main gun traverse even slightly?
How come all the various guns sound the same plus there is the generic sound of incoming? Hmmmm.
That's the original Stug!
Seems like the StuG should have been the German main mass produced tank...especially with the different barrel combo's, track armor covers and low profile.
Germsny never figured out how to masd produce tanks, they tried with the Panzer 4 and 5 and fsiled, this also because of the Allied bombings.
Lethal German tanks
👍

At 2:52 they look like miniature models
They are actual real vehicles filmed in Warsaw for a film, right after the Warsaw uprising.

0:57, "Blondine" :D
Not original sound, at all. When a Panzer fired it's main battery, your ears popped. Better, to just left the sound off.

1:10 Stug Abteilung 243 schiesst auf sowj. Munitionslager
I am a serious model maker and the StuG isn't a Tank. Like the name it is an self propelled assault gun.😂❤
