- Behind The Scenes At The Museum (BBC, 2010): Leyland Commercial Vehicle Museum. I'm sorry that this has uploaded at 360p, it was only SD to begin with and it's a shame more quality is lost. This is a fantastic documentary and worth your time.
Update: I love how many people have already watched this and I'm glad it's found a new audience. It really should be on iPlayer though. - Наука та технологія
Cracking documentary, we used to visit the museum regularly but unfortunately out of our price range now....We miss Earl in the cafe...he was a star.. Long may it continue to display our motoring heritage.
15 years ago....I wonder if any of the lads are still alive...??? It was a well-made & balanced documentary, the BBC were always good at capturing these unique little slices of British life.....
Managed to visit a few years back, a long way from home but well worth the trip.A fantastic Museum hope they got some funding as well worth preserving.
So pedantic but sometimes comes with age and obviously passionate people. Love Alan’s animated deep intake of breath after every sentence 😂
Q. ''When is the Chairman going to get a full response to his letter...?''
A. ''When the committee deems it reasonable....''
🙄🙄🤯🙄
Real life John Shuttleworths. Ooooft. Fantastic.
I remember watching this when it was first broadcast many years ago and had tried to find it again since, so really nice to see it on here. I never went to this museum, but did volunteer at a heritage railway where Alan Pritchard used to also be a volunteer. I don't remember him as being anything other than polite, if a bit grumpy at times. Sadly, the heritage sector is full of people who try to build their own empires and it can be very difficult to deal with in volunteer organisations. The sad thing about this programme is most of the volunteers were elderly men and I doubt very many of them are even still alive now - hopefully, a new younger generation has stepped forward to celebrate the legacy of these vehicles. Thanks for bringing it back from the archives.
I think Errol from Bamber Bridge might still be alive...🙏
I didnt even know this museum existed. Now i do i will visit with my daughter and grand children
Alan Pritchard does not play well with others. Too Bad , he had a good retirement hobby set up there.
Great Doc Richard. So many museums are facing the same situations, with the internet being the preferred way to access history and information. Change is the way forward. Good luck Steve and all the crew. Cheers 🇨🇦
Think you need to encourage children to attend with their families - young people are the future for this museum
Do we know when this was filmed? The cafe isn't like that anymore. I like the food they sell there. I go with my son reasonably often. I donated some "Days Gone By" diecast vehicles to the shop to sell. I just wish they could display a different selection of vehicles on occasion, but as it's run by volunteers, I'm just glad it's still open in 2024. I doubt it would still be open if it had continued in the way Alan wanted it to. The display of cinema equipment wasn't appropriate for this museum and seemed to take up a lot of exhibition space. That would have been more suited to the Film & Television museum in Bradford.

@@iainv4092 Yes, I did see that and the 2010 date at the end of the credits, so I edited my comment, twice, but for some reason, it has reverted back to my original comment both times. Not sure if it's my tablet or youtube that is glitching!
Fantastic museum but that Alan was a bit of a anus
I bet he was a good tax inspector though...! 😉
@@_Ben4810 oh certainly with his attitude
I remember going as a kid and took my son recently.
There was a truck cab on display in the centre that you were allowed to sit in ( same cab as the pope mobile) its gone now, but thinking about it 30 plus years of kids jumping about the interior will of taken its toll.
Need to pay a visit here sometime, especially as it’s just down the road from me!
That was very interesting. I enjoyed that.
All changed now new management run differently and a good credit to them now
Terrific Video, Just like here in America so many Great Companies are gone that made fantastic and quality things, Though not related directly to the Museum the Audio Video display was actually a demonstration of the High quality and Technical Prowess of these legendary Companies. and funny nowadays so many want to get their hands on it.
Heart warming documentary
Wonder how many places like this closed due to issues shown, anyone know what happened to alans bus?
Sad to watch the internal infighting in what is a voluntary role to preserve our lost heritage. You can understand why we lost it if this is how they conducted themselves in refusing to accept change.
We were going out with the kids it started to rain so took them there instead obviously they didn’t want to go in when in they didn’t want to leave great place to pass time
Never heard of this place before. If struggling linking up with Gaydon and moving down the road would work well
when was this recorded? I plan to visit one day maybe in the winter

Lovely museum but the entrance price is too high now. Drop the price and they will get more people through the door
Some of those guys are just little brats...no wonder Leyland went Tits up !
