The problem with this guy having short, to-the-point intros and videos is that I can burn through his entire back catalogue quickly and still want more :(
Yeah he’s got useful info
So glad you have hobbies like this and absolutely love the addition of Aldo to our Shaquiverse.
i would personally like to remove aldo from my shaquiverse
@@internetshaquille There are many great rabbit stew recipes out there

I feel like you're a modern, younger, more wholesome version of the Most Interesting Man Alive. Glad to see that I'm not the only one with gardening failures though haha
He IS the Most Interesting Man Alive.
Ah Shaq, you've just given me a terrible terrible idea for some balcony planters. I think I'll be filling my life with Chilli plants come spring
Therapist - Internet Shaqablyat isn't real he can't hurt you
Internet Shaqablyat -
Note to self: add wheels to the big garden raised bed.
That would be an incredible combo
Or just buy a forklift from craigslist.
shape it like a shopping cart, it carries groceries
You'd need very strong wheels though. And a strong way to attach them. Or they'll just collapse under the weight the first time you try to move it.
(Speaking from experience)

Wagon wheels with a 2" steel pipe as a axel.
I’d like to see more of Aldo the rabbit in every farming related post please
Seconded
Would love a good rabbit recipe from Shaq
I'm sure all Australians know this but check out Gardening Australia every weekend, they ALWAYS have local recommendations for what to do in your garden at that time of year. Great tip about mentioning local! It's best to plant with the plants that will adapt or fit well in your area to reduce unnecessary use of water, fertilizers, etc.
Oi oi oi!
Yes! Plus, what a straight up wholesome show for anyone who loves gardening.
I did not know that and should have a garden in around 10 months so thanks!
I politely demand more Aldo content, what an absolute munchkin! Let him eat all your hard work, he deserves it!
Love the slav squat in the adidas tracksuit
ah yes, my favorite plant, The Censored Plant™ (c) 2021
My favorite tree is a Mulberry. Low hanging fruit is perfect for the little ones to pick and the higher ones are perfect attraction for my birdwatching addiction. What ever ends up on the ground feeds all sorts of critters from bugs to possums. The bugs turn into possum and bird food. Sweet little possums gorge on ticks=no ticks ever on my pets or me!
Last summer you inspired me to start growing my own veggies and herbs. Now, I got my own little garden outback.
I vaguely remember helping my parents build one as a kid and forgot literally everything about building it.
_Looks like I just found my next project_
Speaking as a gardener, thank you so much for discussing the gardening failures as well as the successes.
I’d be super down for more gardening content in this or a second channel.
Throw some caster wheels on the large planters and you should be able to shift it around with a bit of difficulty
such a cozy and chill video, it made me smile :)
:)
Thought I'd share some things I've learned thus far trying to garden:
+ If you want to grow Thai Basil and mint, just re-root the cuttings you get along with your pho order.
+ The most laziest way I've gotten Dragon Fruit Cactus to thrive without the need of a storebought or handmade trellis/support was to allow it to grow up my parent's palm tree. Open enough to not get entangled by its thorns and tall and bare enough to get sun (versus a normal tree. it'd be like a tree with barb wire - I wouldn't want to go fruit picking in that scenario)
+ unlimited natural fertilizer: leave a 5 gallon bucket of water and aggressive weeds sealed for a month or so. after that, stir occassionally when you need liquid fertilizer. replenish with more water more often than with more weeds. and yes, it'll smell RANK, but after a while (mine's almost a year), it doesn't smell bad.
Been using the SIP system since I saw your first video. It really is the best. Even in a "bad" year I still get plenty of yield. Thanks for more info!
I live in Europe and I don't even have a garden, but I still enjoyed this video for your humble and wholesome attitude, so I still learned something. Keep it up.
That mulberry “fools!” comment is true. Mulberries are awesome!
Yo man, birds are thinking the same thing about that mulberry tree, and will spared that invasive shit all over the place. People had the same thoughts about honeysuckle and now its everywhere and taking over forests.
as a dude in phoenix who really needs a new, thought provoking hobby, thanks for the ideas and recommendations!
A little tip from one fig grower to another, it might be in your best interests to keep your fig fairly small. There's a particular ideal ratio of plumage to fruit that's different from variety to variety, and in any rate, it's easier to handle a smaller tree, and a smaller tree is more receptive to fertilizers.
You're the reason I did SIPs this summer! I had two cucumber plants and two tomato plants and they did really well (even through my little failures). I love gardening but I live in apartment so the SIPs were perfect, thank you!
Angela is the BEST! It's so helpful to have a local gardener we can trust here in Phoenix. She has had a lot of slow growth with her garden too. So she knows all the pitfalls we usually hit. 🌱✨
I set up 3 of the 5 gallon sips this past summer. Grew some mint, and some parsley. It was the first time we where able to keep some plants alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The third one we filled with oregano, and some re-grown green onions. And those do quite as well. But we got a bit back out.
Such a mellow happy vid
bree thought i added all the birdsong in myself
Shaq opening a Whole Foods in his backyard 😍
1:08 if you want to prevent grass creeping up to the trees, try covering up to the drip line with mulch.
Check out Back to Eden gardening if you haven't! It does wonders for dry and compacted soil like what you have. It's the gateway to permaculture in my opinion, which is another rabbithole that's super interesting
The dragon fruit plant is one of my favorites! The flower is also beautiful when bloomed.
your videos are such a breath of fresh air
As an Arizona native, it's so cool to see videos from someone in az makin it happen!
I live in an apartment with very little sunlight, I'll never have these. And yet, I'm completely in transe by the passionate way you speak of your hobby. It's like a hot-girl-falling-in-love-with-a-dorky-guy-because-of-the-way-he-talks-about-his-table-RPGs kinda of vibe.
Rewatching this video and the armenian cucumber shoutout!!! Love to see it in the desert
Love how calming this video js
Because we live in Phoenix pretty much the only plants I've tried to grow and date palms and citrus fruit trees. But seeing how much progress you've made with all these different types of fruits and vegetables gives me hope. I'll definitely give my farming escapades another shot! Thanks Shaq.
Can’t wait to build some of these at my first long-term home
I love videos like this! Subscribed great work
I didn't know you were a gardener too! That's awesome! I really enjoyed this video--the fun anecdotes, the plant tour, and the humble admission of failure. Worth every second of my time. Keep vibing your vibe, man.
love seeing the gardening content please keep it up!
I was late and missed my chance to make my early snarky comment on this video so I'll be nice for once- love your videos boo.
speaking of which transition was dope
Also koodos to brightland picking such a cool dude to sponsor

Man you're posting videos about 2 out of 3 of my favorite hobbies (just missing woodworking). I would love more gardening videos in addition to the culinary ones!

This video is chill af
Yes finally more SIP content. Gourmet mushrooms in the future ever?
more gardening video YAY!
I appreciate you hsareing about gardening in the desert, I moved to southern New Mexico last year and I’ve been wanting to learn about how to garden here as well as foraging edible plants but it feels like most of the info I come across is targeted towards wetter climates with real winters
Yaaaay garden video good job. Try companion planting in the same container, peppers like dill tomatoes like basil 👍
I know this is a year old, but I encountered the same problem with moving my giant kratky hydroponic tubs once they were filled with water outside. I found it helpful to put them on furniture dollies before filling them up. You can build your own with wood and casters, or find some pretty big pre-made ones that have a high weight limit.
The next time you empty those out, it might be helpful to put the containers on them so you can just roll them around wherever you want.
yum yum brightland olive oil you say????
I grew up in a stretch of Midwest where every other yard had a mulberry tree. The fruit is delicious, but ground beneath it is stained black for like a week or two in the summer.
i love you, Internet Shaquille!
I wasn't expecting a gardener in Phoenix. I kind of want to do it now
You could absolutely put casters (wheels) on the metal frame those containers are in to make them easier to move!
Love this content!
I love Aldo
I didn't know I needed horticultural Shaquille, but boy am I glad we've got em
Shaq, PLEASE be careful when you drop that fig tree in the ground. Don't put it even a tiny bit close to plumbing. Make sure it is quite a distance from your house.
There is so much dad energy coming from this video 😂
Those totes... in australia we would call them something else just need some industrial castors for easy moving...
Loved the forbidden fruit XD
This is dope!
Thanks for the two ingredient salad monologue. His two ingredients were greens and carrot shards, no dressing. Not a salad.
Subscribing to you was the best decision I ever made on UA-cam.
If you wanted to move the totes more effectively you could probably rent or borrow a pallet Jack pretty easily
Love this vid
For the big Bois you talked about towards the end, I wonder if it would be worth trying aga, but placing them maybe in the yard somewhere where they could get plenty of sun elevate them slightly, and place them on a patch of idk, stone/gravel to prevent mice from burrowing? But then again that doesn't nessecarily stop the other grazers
Friendship ended with COOKING. Now GARDENING is my best friend.
Use a car jack and some moving dollies to move those IBC's. Plenty of guides to moving heavy stuff slowly here on the learning platform
Thanks for information
Just got back from work reading This is Your Mind on Plants on the subway so the shoutout was a pleasant surprise!
Shaq does a top ten books challenge
Wow, you live in a house?! Congrats, dude! I thought you lived in an apartment. Congrats on the house! That's crazy!!
A palette jack would probably work for moving the big boys.
The best flowers I’ve ever grown were the result of leaving the pots in a wagon and just pulling the wagon to whichever part of my yard was sunny. Sounds simple but made a huge difference
Just now watching this and I can’t stop laughing my ass off at “lemongrass”
Please more gardening content!
Thanks Internet Shaquille. This video was a real... slam dunk
good video.
some years ago it snowed at Halloween here in Ontario. Watching this just makes me sad.
lol at lost crops -- we lose a lot to bugs. Must say the best broccoli I've ever eaten came from my garden. Frozen or store bought is meh, but oven roasting home-grown broccoli tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper, and chunky garlic is sublime
maybe mounting some dolly setup or some wheels could be a good solution to those large beds
I don't live in phoenix but I do live in Vegas, and knowing the similarities between the two at least climate wise, i think i'll have to give this whole growing your own food thing a shot
Huzzah for sharing our failures!
The next iteration could be on heavy duty casters, which would make sun tracking movement possible.
i am ridiculously attracted to this man
Can you talk about what pesticides and other techniques you use? My concern would be how easily diseases could spread in those larger tubs.
