I’ve been waiting so long for you to take on Michael Bloomfield. I’m surprised on how little lesson content there is on him because his rhythm and phrasing is top notch. Bravo!
The best part about following you for so many years (other than the general awesomeness of your teaching and temperament) is that I've come to realize that so many of my favorite players like the same kinds of sounds. In your little "Wish You Were Here" sidebar, I suddenly heard the beginning of Rawlings' first solo on "Midnight Train," a connection I'd never made before. In these little Bloomfield double stops I heard Hendrix. I've even made some weird connections between Rawlings and The Edge (they both avoid thirds!). My playing and knowledge has grown so much through your teaching. It's bizarre that I don't actually like, know you. I guess the internet is not entirely stupid after all!
Sixthesez are so sweet. Thank you for this glimpse into the genius of Mr. Bloomfield. Another sixthesez-heavy Dylan song is his cover of "Corrina, Corrina". Bruce Langhorne uses a Drop- D tuning and plays melodic sixthesez lines on strings 2 & 3 while keeping a steady bass on the the 6th string. A favorite in my repertoire.
Thanks Eric! Great timing. I've been working on a version of this over the past few weeks. I noticed there where no good resources for it on youtube...until now!
Along these lines, the outake version of ‘She Belongs to Me’ from the No Direction Home soundtrack out sixthses Reggie Young and Steve Cropper put together!
Bro I just started following you about a month ago and I only wish I had half the knowledge you do thank you and who knows maybe one day I could be at that same level. The struggle is real lol Salud!
Love this one from another great Dylan album. Second only to Blood on the Tracks for me. Bloomfield was another one gone too soon. Loved his stuff with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
Hi Eric you are great but can you try to do a sequence? We amateurs see so many disparate lessons. That Dylan LP Highway 61 Revisited has so much to offer.
Is your ribbon active or passive? And i got a gift from a friend . A Samar vl37a mic. It’s active so wondering what you think about using it to mic my anp

@jasonleija7066 Jack Ruch just did a great Bloomfield lesson as well. Top notch stuff. More focused on some of his blues lead styling.
Mike Bloomfield was one of the greatest blues rock guitarists ever but is not given his due and overlooked.
Bloomfield is great! His ol’ man’s coffee machines ain’t bad either.
This, btw, is one of the finest channels on the tubes of you. Thanks for this!
I'm a huge Bloomfield fan, he was a massive talent..

Everything comes back to pentatonics!
@@EricHaugenGuitar Yes! And note selection! The way you teach guitar is really For Guitarists. It's invaluable.
Thanks for getting more Mike Bloomfield instruction out there. Very helpful stuff. Thank you as always.
I’ve said it before Eric and I’ll say it again. Nothing is cooler than your Mustang.
Thanks for taking the time to do another specific song from the boomers’ past. You’re an old soul, friend.
Mike was an angel masquerading as a human. Epic musician, too good for our world.💔🥀love him forever

Eric- great lesson! Exactly what we went over with shapes/caged! Looking forward to reaching out again soon - have a great weekend!
The first song I heard in my head was "Two of us"...I love sixes and hybrid picking...
Yes!!! Love Dylan era Bloomfield. 🙏
Love Bloomfield!
Very cool choice of topic
note: a lot of those memphis double stops were done by Bruce Langhorne (esp.on "bringing it all back home" preceding this bloomfield session.
LOve learning sixthses! Thanks, Eric!
Superb lesson 👏 😊
So cool , nice playing 😊
Great old tune, great lesson! Thank you, Eric.

I'm in. Cool. Thank you.
Thank you Eric! ✌️😌🎸
epic era
And by the way, dig Bloomfield's solo on "tombstone blues": pure white light!
Sixths (such a tough word to pronounce out loud in an elegant way, and always funny) brings to mind Taj Mahal’s “Take A Giant Step”.😊
Nice breakdown. Thanks for sharing!

get eric's truefire caged course. it's the foundation all this stuff is built on.
So awesome!! Thank you....

Not only Soul Man. But the opening of Two of Us - Beatles Let it be - get back sessions
Happy Friday everyone!
I hear Ry in these 6ths.
Excellent lesson. By the way, I would pronounce “sixth” exactly the way you did here.
Always wanted to sit an learn all the licks on that album
⚓️ Thanks Eric 🌈

Nice one! 🎉
Dylan's best guitarist.
Yikes. I wouldn't want to have to pick just one.
Could you do something on the style of Mark Speer from Khruangbin? My favorite guitarist.

man I miss that G&L ASAT!
Guthrie Trapp uses this to great effect as well
Bob Dylan. Pat Garett and Billy the Kid!
Would it not be crazy enough to finger pick it
Sick Sixthuses easier played than said. Sprinkle to taste and they'll always smile.
