I swear to god Ben Wheeler is the most entertaining Magic player in the whole damn world right now. Absolutely smashes you in the face and you're laughing about it the entire time. #whattaguy
I'm interested in this 'floating-round' tournament structure. If you start select matches early _while_ the previous round concludes, and that results in less downtime for the players & more matches on camera-that could catch on! Especially for events with fewer players. Can't wait to see more
I love Cam, but I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen his Mardu deck win a match, even against lighter competition. It needs to be retooled or scrapped.
Alex's Borobots list is so cool! Jor Kadeen is one of my pet cards and I never thought he was viable anywhere but Commander. I would love to see a deck tech on North 100 sometime.
2:37:18 I really thought Cameron was going to grab a Tragic Slip and use that plus his crafted wargear to kill both of Jeremy's fliers. It even would have gotten around the Remand he didn't know he had. (After checking the decklists he doesn't run it but still)
My season expectations: White, Wheeler, and Steacy fight over top 3. Yager and Ulmer have a solid midfield battle, .... sorry Cam. (Dear me, prove me wrong Cam. I wanna see you cooking consistently by league end >D!) So, those are my expectations/predictions; I welcome any and all surprise results. GLHF y'all! 2:55:30, ARGH, twitch ate my streak ;-; I should be at like... 20? ish months ;-;?
Can could have survived if he put bone splinters into his deck. He could have searched for it on 1 with undergrowth and saced the redcap for the cost. That way when it was remanded he could cast it on the persist redcap and killed the pallenkron
I can't help but feel this is going is going to be a success, and if so, do you think it would be possible to run a Moonlander Fantasy Draft in the future? :D
I know this match is a year old, but is it just me or could Alex have won by not attacking with Bomat at 54:03? He could pass the turn, then use Ghirapur Grid to put 2 damage on the hangarback walker, making 2 thopters, then block the attacking griselbrand and put 1 dmg on the blocking thopter so Wheeler gains no life and can't draw 7? If wheeler chooses not to attack with griselbrand then aether grid whittles Ben down anyways
Its 100 card singleton, similar to commander with no commander. Its way different iz actual gameplay though, usually unless a card is called chaos orb or shaharizad they dont ban busted cards, but assign point values to them insted. Black lotus for instance is 7 points i think, and you can have either 10 or 11 depending on who you ask. A lot of nutty stuff happens
so ben shouldnt have infinte storm in game 3 right? he doesnt cast Black Lotus infinit time he returns it right? i mean he wins anyway but just for clarification.
he has infinite storm. he sacs lotus for three white pays two of those to return lotus and replays it. he can just infinitely loop that to get infinite mana so he gets infinite storm since he is never in the risk of running out of white mana to get the lotus back.
WARNING! INTENSELY SUBJECTIVE PERSONAL OPINION INCOMING! I am always a big believer in "Play magic however you enjoy the most" but there is something I have always disliked counterspells fundamentally. I understand they are a part of the game but they feel just so anti-fun. Some of the most fun I have from mtg is the interaction and having to figure out how to manage and deal with things my opponents do. However, counters involve no interaction, it is just "No. That thing just doesn't happen". The "reactionary" nature of games like Hearthstone are actually one of the biggest pluses for them for me. Counterspells try to prevent your opponent from playing mtg, if you don't want your opponent to play mtg, go home and solo your decks like in practice. That is an exaggeration, naturally, but just why I never play counters.
You LRR guys have got to stop the combo decks from Jeremy and Ben Wheeler, they're really not so much fun to watch, but would be very much fun to see hosed. So put Arcane Laboratory, Curse of Exhaustion, Eidolon of Rhetoric, Leovold, Emissary of Trest, Rule of Law and Damping Sphere in your decks.
I very much disagree, while they may not be as back and forth as other decks they are incredibly fun to watch and see pulled off. We've got interesting interative decks from the other four here, so it's not like we're starved for that content.
@@moxavenger I don't think we've seen garbage plate before? We have seen decks winning with tendrils and Griselbrand, but that was a completly different combo deck. It would be nice to see some more meta-calls in the league, but this was the first show! We dobn't even know how this meta is going to pan out! Also, putting all those cards in your deck would make them really weak against, for example, midrange. Also? I love watching combo decks. People have different tastes.

Ben is so gosh darn charming. Please give me more of this boy.
I assume you are talking Wheelyboy, but this could be said about both Bens honestly.

That Wheeler game three was the most bizarre game of Magic I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing
I solemnly swaer to watch every video Ben and Serge appear in. They are so great to watch.
Just saying but they need a button that says 'Move to Cheat Step'

1:54:34 There's something in the water in Canada. Serge does a real good Daniel Negreanu impression.

I have tutored for a tutor in commander. It happens in formats where tutors are really important.
I play a reanimator commander deck and have mystical tutored for demonic tutor which got me a rune-scarred demon on more than one occasion.
It was turn 2. And Ben had infinite storm. I see why he called the deck degenerate.
