Can't believe I've commented on this moving song elsewhere, but not on UA-cam! Both my parents were addicted to various forms of legal gambling and my mother took her own life largely due to unpaid debts. I wrote a piano-based song called "I, Me, Mine," which spoke of my mother's disease. It was good therapy, though I decided not to pursue the song beyond a demo. Any time a habit becomes inimical to relationships, it is a harmful one. Compulsive gamblers neglect family and friends, and it eventually seeps into their work relationships. I am glad that one of my favorite prog musicians has joined forces with Gamblers Anonymous. This song would have fit splendidly on Innocence and Illusion but stands on its own merits.
Great song and let's share this because gambling is another addiction that can take hold and destroy lives. Thank you for raising awareness in such a memorable way. The lyrics hit the spot perfectly.
Thank you Jim, yes gambling is one of those addictions that is not so widely recognised but is just as destructive as many of the others. Raising awareness is so important. Many thanks for your support and appreciation 😊
I love how this begins innocent and as we near the finale the instrumentation takes on the undertones of a sinister carnival act amid your angelic voice. Epic contrasts and top notch production.
Thank you Joshua, that is absolutely how the song unfolds, and the video too. The spin goes from something alluring to out of control. "A sinister carnival act" is spot on. Thank you.
Very melodic song, Amanda has a Great voice
