- The Financial Action Task Force, the FATF, has taken placed South Africa on its greylist - meaning the country will be under increased monitoring regarding actions against money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. Greylisting also means the country has committed to resolving the deficiencies within agreed time frames. Last year parliament passed two laws to address the flagged deficiencies including the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing legislation.
To help us unpack what this decision could mean for the country we are now joined via Zoom by Dr Celeste Campher a lecturer in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of the Free State.

With all the ANC corruption and incompetency this was a foregone conclusion.
You need to go back to Europe if you don't like the fight for freedom the government is doing. You would rather have South Africa be a lackey of the West and hope to keep your privilege.
It is result of angry Western countries as your country done military exercise with Russia and china
It’s funny how the high people up there literally represent million’s of lives without the people having a say is insane honestly
Voetsak ANC
I honestly think, the drills we're having with BRICS countries has something to do with this.
Your country done military excercise with Russia that why
@@divya9951It is not going to matter. South Africa and other countries will survive it. BRICS has a central BANK ( which India is a part). If you go to their website, they have financed may projects for all country members . It will not have a great impact.
Your country has done military exercise with Russia and China and West is angry about it so this is the result
@@BoringDad1272 ohh
when that bank is created???
@@divya9951 It has at least 7 years. It has funded lots of projects in India, South Africa, China, Brazil. It is real. That is what the West fear. The attack on China and the Ukraine war is just to stop the whole process. These folks think ahead. They know if BRICS works, they are doomed. They can't compete so they will destroy the playing filed.
