Olivia was never the same after William Lewis. He broke her. After that Russian Roulette scene, Olivia became a fortress. She was so cold, after this. She became unhealthily attached to the victims. Poor Liv 😢
Mariska’s and Pablo’s acting was incredible in this scene!! Especially when Liv @ 5:23 & 6:09 her delivery of those lines felt so real she sounded genuinely terrified.
@@breannaxoxo3850 Because she is a hostile witness by definition? It’s not a moral question but a legal one - she is a witness whose testimony is antagonistic to the defendant (the one calling her to testify)’s legal position. Once she begins answering and this becomes clear in the judge’s eyes, the attorney (or defendant in this case) must ask for permission to treat her as hostile. He does and, because she has refuted or disagreed with his legal claims to that point, the judge rules that she is antagonistic to his legal defense. Ergo a hostile witness. This is the right call.

Really hate the judges in this country because they don't care when they keep saying overruled when clearly the person at the stand is being questioned by an experienced lawyer who knows nothing about law. But detective Olivia Benson is one of my favorite actors in law in Order.
A real judge would never allow this kind of conduct to continue in an actual courtroom. The shouting, the intimidation, the wandering around the room that Lewis does...he's only getting away with it because it's TV.
To be honest he's a scary criminal demented man that I would fight for Olivia's word and life that's how much I would make Olivia one of my favorite characters from the past and now. She deserves everything in her world that she cares about even her ex-partner Elliot Stabler that's true he would do everything what Olivia said in this video.
In no world would any judge allow this blatantly badgering of a witness. I'd love to see LegalEagle review just how many laws were broken in this episode.
Several mistrial since the first minutes probably. And judge removed from office for incompetence 😂 "Your honour, objection." "Sustained, you mays proceed." ?????
This episode made my blood boil. This man was beyond sadistic, he was a monster and the scariest and unapologetic criminal in the entire show. His first cameo where he burnt his fingers down was when i knew this guy will leave a scar. His acting is so good i almost lunged at him (on my tv lol)
Lewis was off that pack. He’s the worst version of a serial…anything. He genuinely liked torturing, he thrived off controlled chaos, and found a toy he enjoyed in Olivia.
One more reason to have the verdict of “Guilty But Mentally Ill” in place! These kinds of criminals like the one depicted here are responsible for their crimes- but they obviously need help!
This man is a narcissist sociopath. They can never change. And they need to be kept away from normal people. They care for nothing and no one but themselves.
While this show (law and order: SVU) is a bit…excessive with its storytelling, and the criminal courts have a lot more limitations, citizens have the right to represent themselves in any court. Just because you can defend yourself, even if you’re a lawyer, doesn’t mean you should. Honestly, this entire trial would’ve been a mistrial in like 7 different ways.
@@cgallegos2106 Thanks for your reply, Your answer is well-balanced I agree with you. I think the American law, in some cases, in its attempt to be unbiased, provides more weapons for the guilty ones, rather than actually providing justice for the innocent ones
@@voiceintheopen345 The premise of the US justice system is “innocent until proven guilty”. It’s an adversarial system whereby the “state” (District Attorneys and Prosecutors) seek Justice for “the people” against the defense. By the US constitution all citizens have the right to an attorney, either at their own expense or by the “State’s”. Problem is, prosecutors always get more funding and resources, so defendants (especially if poor) have to rely on Public Defenders (lawyers working via organizations or by demand of “the Court”). It’s an old system, so it’s very complex and at times self-defeating.
I love how in the comments people are saying "The judge is out of line, that shouldn't be allowed" blah blah blah. Guys, Law and Order has done this since day 1. The courtroom part of Law and Order is always non realistic for dramatization. You only notice now because Olivia is getting the smoke LOL.
Law & Order universe is literally fan fiction of police officers world wide. SVU is popular because it's exploiting the real world trauma, guilt, and internal confusion of survivors. It pretends to provide answers and explanation to the unconscionable and unexplainable. Proper research teams need to study these predators

How is it even legal in the first place? Yes, everyone is entitled to a defense, but I would automatically assume that the D.A. WOULDN'T be the guilty party themselves.
I can't believe that judge allowed Lewis to treat Benson as a hostile witness. Still credit goes to Benson for keeping her emotions in check and keeping herself in posture during this asshole's questioning of her. If I was Barba would have called objection several times and even questioned the judge on what da hell he's allowing Lewis to yell like this.
This is just really bad writing for this show. No judge in his right mind would ever let 99% of these things happen. Screaming at a witness, stating what happened rather than asking questions CONSTANTLY, addressing the jury directly with statements while he's supposed to be asking the witness questions. Just too ridiculous all around.
tbf there's a lot of eps where they cross the line in favouring drama over accuracy, plus a lot of dodgy judges, it's a tv show so they'll always favour putting on a show over what would happen in real life
@@Jacob-ps5xlhonestly it was better this way. Not classic law and order, that’s for sure, but suspend disbelief. All TV is fantasy if dramatized. I get what you mean.
William Lewis is without a doubt one of the most terrifying villains in tv history. It’s wild to me he lied throughout the entire trial trying to break Liv and the one lie she tells sets him over the edge. Characters aside tho Mariska & whoever played Williams are incredible actors this scene is amazing from an acting perspective. Really blown away with the actor who played William tho his delivery was phenomenal & he played the hell out of this part 💯
Idc what anybody says, William Lewis is the greatest villain to ever appeared on S.V.U. Also, this scene proves how crazy William really was. God I love this fucking show
Olivia had to stay calm otherwise she would have lost. It would have given merit to what he was saying. Notice the moment she showed feelings he tried to call her hostile.
What if William Lewis had other family members like a brother, or a sister, or if his parents or any other of his family members wanted revenge against Olivia for his death or if someone close to Olivia that she thought she knew was really a family member of William Lewis that would be a very neat idea if SVU would come back on tv for another season.
I remember the first time we “meet” Lewis and he burns his fingertips off. I LOVE the Olivia Lewis plot line. Idk who that actor is but he’s fucking terrifying. I know it’s just a character and he’s acting but goddamn he had me SCARED. Both their acting is insaaaaane. I wonder if they’re like “besties” in real life😂😂 that would be hilarious
Best villain in the show. I hate how in the end, Murphy lies for her to cover up her perjury and remove all the consequences she would have faced for them. They routinely depict the police and lawyers breaking the law but it’s okay, because this guy just so happened to kill 30 people. With the implication being maybe EVERYONE is guilty and therefore all police misconduct is fine.

And judge removed from office for incompetence 😂
"Your honour, objection."
"Sustained, you mays proceed."
?????
Although I know it’s a show this made me so mad. It’s so uncomfortable that there people like this in our society.
This episode made my blood boil. This man was beyond sadistic, he was a monster and the scariest and unapologetic criminal in the entire show. His first cameo where he burnt his fingers down was when i knew this guy will leave a scar. His acting is so good i almost lunged at him (on my tv lol)
That judge should be in trouble for allowing that treatment to happen
This whole story was amazing and the level of acting was 💯 why didn't Mariska and Pablo got an Emmy is beyond me
The actor who played his part is beyond amazing!
Lewis was off that pack. He’s the worst version of a serial…anything. He genuinely liked torturing, he thrived off controlled chaos, and found a toy he enjoyed in Olivia.
Olivia Benson is the best 😊
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Even though she's aged and gained a little weight since giving birth to her son, she's still beautiful and looks just like her mother.
Superb acting on Pablo’s part as Lewis.
Man the way he yelling at her was scary 😦and psychotic.
oh the actor had bills to pay ....he really wanted that cheque
😂😂😂
Well he did have two(at this time) small children he had to support and a divorce he had to pay for. 😂
One more reason to have the verdict of “Guilty But Mentally Ill” in place! These kinds of criminals like the one depicted here are responsible for their crimes- but they obviously need help!
The same way a rabid dog needs “help”
There's no treatment for this. U can't grow a moral center.
But they are still responsible! Even if it means locking them away for the rest of their lives, they are still responsible!@@christinecrites835
Dogs can be retrained.@@bchearne
There's no help with this one, the only help this one needs is to be brought in front of a firing squad.
Pablo wouldn’t have been Alive if Stabler was still her partner!!
Have you ever encountered someone in life who believes their own lies? No? Here is a perfect example of how dangerous they are. Be careful out here.
This man is a narcissist sociopath. They can never change. And they need to be kept away from normal people. They care for nothing and no one but themselves.
This “Judge” should've ended his line of questioning after he started to yell at Olivia. There's a difference between intimidation and questioning
This is one of those situations where the defendant should not be representing themselves
Does the American law allow a felon to exert his own defense in a court of Law? Are not the rights of a felon limited in a court of law ?
Anyone can defend themselves in an American court of law. Of course, there is the saying, “The one who defends themself has a fool for a lawyer.”
@@cgallegos2106well back in the day Ted bundy did it
I love how in the comments people are saying "The judge is out of line, that shouldn't be allowed" blah blah blah.
There should be SOME realistic aspects. This would NEVER happen in a courtroom. EVER!
That was some intense stuff. Like I know this is a show but it never missed with throwing the viewer in that emotional turmoil and tension
Barba felt so terrible for Liv 🥺🥺
This is the typical kind of gaslighting, arrogant, abusive male women have to deal with daily.
ok man hater
@@johnmac4261 When someone tells the truth about male nature, you call it "man-hating" because you're so used to be worshipped and glorified. But I'm sure when you browse UA-cam Shorts and see all the manosphere comments degrading women in statements of absolutes, you gleefully agree and upvote.
@@deepforestfire ok man hater. What color is your hair today? Don't your cats need you?
So all men are gaslighters, arrogant and abusive is that what you're saying?
@@deepforestfire you kinda are a man hater. you're the type to ignore any kind of male suffering.
Oh my Lord, he KIDNAPPED HER. If I were a defense attorney, I would mop the floor with him!
It doesn't make sense.
I miss William Lewis so much. Olivia will never have an Arch Enemy as amazing as this man.
Henry Mesner from the episodes "Born Psychopath" and "Post-Graduate Psychopath" is a potential William Lewis #2.
Mariska herself even said that he and Sheila Porter were her favorite villains. And that it was a treat for her to get to work with Pablo.
Like with Ted Bundy, I don't understand why they let criminals be their own defence lawyer, it should be illegal in my opinion.
Everyone is entitled to a defense. Unfortunately that includes the guilty parties.
How is it even legal in the first place? Yes, everyone is entitled to a defense, but I would automatically assume that the D.A. WOULDN'T be the guilty party themselves.
There's a saying in the world of lawyers: A defendant who represents himself has a fool for a client.
Oh boy! He Sure Showed himself up! All by himself!
This man is sick as hell 😢😢😢
He’s awesome
Not to mention that he got caught for the first time!!
This is the most triggering thing I have ever seen.
This entire line of questioning should be thrown out. At the very least he's leading the witness.
Idc what anybody says, William Lewis is the greatest villain to ever appeared on S.V.U.
Also, this scene proves how crazy William really was. God I love this fucking show
I didn’t realize that Master Cheeks’ previous life was a psychopath before coming a Spartan 😅
Pablo Schreiber is such a good actor!!!
The actor is underrated in his profession. He legit scares me in this show.
Olivia had to stay calm otherwise she would have lost. It would have given merit to what he was saying. Notice the moment she showed feelings he tried to call her hostile.
That I froze thing is so real😢 persons will never understand! Unless you’ve experienced S/A
This actor has been on L/Order.MANY times...he's a very intense actor....never cared for him
It was the "We drank together, took drugs together, we played with each other sexually....." for me... lol
Men
That whole sage between Olivia and him was written and executed so Dark that I took a break from stopping the show to catch my reality 😂
This was heartbreaking
Yeah 8:13 is completely unacceptable i dont see how they allowed this circus to continue
Objection, the defence is testifying.
What if William Lewis had other family members like a brother, or a sister, or if his parents or any other of his family members wanted revenge against Olivia for his death or if someone close to Olivia that she thought she knew was really a family member of William Lewis that would be a very neat idea if SVU would come back on tv for another season.
According to William Lewis himself, he only had his father - who we as the viewers assume is dead - but that would be a cool idea for another season.
Also thought his female lawyer would be obsessed with him and come back for revenge
Pablo Schreiber was terrific in this role !
“Your honor, because a woman isn’t giving me what I want I will consider that aggression and that means I can treat her a hostile. Thanks, bro.”
I guess Jimmy Rings was never a chill dude.
Nothing humiliating at all. She was perfect!!
I wonder if they’re like “besties” in real life😂😂 that would be hilarious
this man infuriates me the same way Charlotte from h20: just add water does
This made me stop looking at the show for a while. How can an injustice like this take place?????He was an Evil criminal 🤬
the dude was out of order and out of line on olivia what a punk and i dont why the judge did nothing about it this was badgering the witness
The fact that I was able to catch more objections than the prosecutor speaks volumes.
Maybe it’s just me, but if I were on this jury I wouldn’t be able to wait until I got to convict him. An innocent person doesn’t act like that
This actor is phenomenal.
why is she being questioned by her attacker?!?!?!
Because he’s representing himself in court
This episode was so emotional
this guy becomes Master Chief
*❤️Only God knows how much grateful i am. After so much struggles I now own a new house and my family is happy once again everything is finally falling into place!!*

I hope that no judge would allow this line of questioning to happen in real life.
Pablo did such a good job at being so very bad.
So we're allowed to have tantrums is court while questioning witnesses
In actual courtrooms, the lawyers must request permission to approach a witness. It’s not like Perry Mason, where it was done so Perry and the witness would be shown in the shoot together.

This episode was soo good
Masterful direct.
This is how lunatics like this no matter what take something from you because the truth is not enough if it's not as entertaining as a lie. And then when people who are innocent start to see that they are losing public opinion are starting to turn against them the lunatic knows that you're not the type of person to lie and by them forcing your hand to lie in order to save yourself it makes you go against your own values thus taking a piece of who you are away from you in the end. It is sick, ot is sadistic. I have seen it and jas happened to me. I had to forgive myself for years. My heart goes out to all who has experienced people like this in different scenarios. If we do make it through this, it hardens us to be warriors for those who cant stand on their own (yet). I turned my pain into power and refuse to be a victim anymore. To take action and reclaim my life. And i pray that you do too. May Yeh (Yahweh aka God) be with you 🌹
I can’t remember his name but there is a lawyer that makes UA-cam videos and I’m gonna need him to do an analysis on this scene cause there is NO WAY that any of this is legal! But whoever is playing Lewis is honestly an amazing actor because I am GENUINELY so fucking terrified of him
