That Chinese weather balloon intro was so unnecessary that I absolutely love it, very well done to my eyes
I made my wife watch it to completion. I’m subscribing for that absurdity alone! 😂
Agreed!
I love how supportive your Wife is, I can't get my wife to help or show any interest in the nerd stuff I do at home! Cool project, Some blue loctite on those bolts and you won't have to worry about them anymore. Cheers!
excellent tip about the loctite, love it!! 👌
Sounds like we share a wife. When I complain to my wife how she obviously has no interest then she goes into quoting me on whatever I just told her... to try to prove me wrong.
That reaction when you took her the name tag was refreshing. ❤❤❤ You guys are awesome 😎
The best part was he hadn't said anything, he just called me and told me to come outside. It stays firmly affixed to my visor!
You two make an absolutely adorable team. Kudos to you for engaging in each other's hobbies and interests. I enjoy seeing that almost as much as I enjoy seeing the final builds. 😊
An involved supportive partner is everything!
Do you have the plans for this box?… not that I can build one, but I’d like to take a look at it a little closer since you didn’t really go over it in the video
You and your wife working together is what the world needs to see. Blown away with your expertise!
The quietness of the setup seems worth the money alone, I don’t think other reviews have made this really valuable point to your average home maker space.
THIS YOUR BEST VIDEO. Awesome box, both your smiles showed your true feelings of the build . I wish i could hear it in person
I once tried a pair of those trousers - but I almost died from laughing. My wife and daughters just about collapsed. Happy memories are made of this.
You need to use removable Loctite "blue" on every nut and bolt. I use it on everything!
I've never had a UA-cam video cause a seismic reaction in my couch before, and i was listening at a relatively low volume! I'm glad i don't have any neighbors with 1000 feet.
Your videos continue to be top notch. And your skills continue to amaze. Thank you so much for doing these! I really hope at some point in my life I have the time, space, and money to immerse myself in 3D printing and C&C routing. I'll never understand all the crazy enclosures like you do, but perhaps I can use some basic designs and learn from there!
Just FYI, it is CNC, which stands for Computer Numerical Control.
@@amorton94 thank you!
The only UA-camr I always grab my headphones for. Many of us appreciate that it's a side project you still enjoy!
The spindle is also a huge advantage because of duty cycle. It should be capable of continuous duty, whereas the router will overheat after an hour or 2. So the spindle is a huge advantage if you are 3D carving...
man i felt the bass through my headphones, my head was vibrating cant imagine how it sounds in person!
You guys seem like a really sweet couple. Glad to see the progress on your channel. And fyi, the sub enclosure that you designed for us has been listened to by some of the most important people in Hollywood.
How did you get him to design you an enclosure?!
bigger is certainly the direction your channel needed. LOVE IT!
As always great content, video, audio, tutorial, commentary, demo, editing, craftsmanship,
ingenuity, skills, & final product.
Mad respect for your love, support & relationship with wifey
Peter you set the bar for YT contributor !!! 🙏
The last bit (sound demo) broke my IEMs :D
Geezusssss! You could quite literally run that puppy at 3 am when them ingenuity juices randomly start flowing. That is extremely impressive!
That bass is definitely noticeably top notch!
I wouldn’t never thought ya’ll two would’ve been together this long. Such a weird dynamic duo of a couple, like the ying and the yang. Glad ya’ll still together and happy.
10 years really sneaks up on you, doesn't it?
Cheers!
I have a bunch of CNC projects ready to go, but there isn't even a small Chinese weather balloon to be seen, from horizon to horizon!
That thing sounds deeper and fuller than the 12" amazing. Well done
That's pretty much by design. A studio sub is meant to reproduce the signal, no more, no less. This sub is slow and coloring, quite the opposite. There's no perfect speaker
If you use dowels and have the router cut the holes you can layer many layers in one go. I do enjoy the "Screws In and Back Out Again A Hexibase story" =)
The issue is that people demanding bigger drivers are trying to impress people they don't know/peacock phase for younger.
They don't understand that small drivers can be quite loud and have authority.
Thanks for continuing your channel Hexi
Amazing! We need the plans for this
6:46 To be fair, no other CNC machine actually promises you that it'll earn you a little action. 😍
Nicely done with the UFO arrival. That sub was hitting so hard I actually heard it in my definitely-NOT-a-subwoofer Dayton B652s (driven full-range). Damn. Need to fix my headphones so I can hear this more properly. Cool that your employer has been willing to play along with hardware, and I always enjoy Sophie's cross-check. 👍
Man, I love to see you produce an extreme build. Still love watching your videos.
Man, I really loved this design, and me sitting with KRK S10.4 and whole room shaking from ur demos more than from ur songs definetly looking into building something like this :D
That’s Phat bass. Wow super impressed with that sound
I see your direction is only to grow. Don't stop!
I love the way Sophie is part of your videos and projects. The two of you look like a really nice team!
Now that’s an enclosure!
For the C&C setup, blue loctite is your friend.. but apologies if you already solved. Love the new setup and project!
I will never truly understand how one man has shown time and again he is the... (clears throat)
The best yt audio file
The best yt carpenter
The best yt cad designer
The best yt editor
The best UA-cam
The best reviewer/uncover
It's just not fair 😂
Please don't replay saying how so and so is way better. It's just a joke man take a chill pill.
Love ur videos and see you next time
Incredibly cool machine and great project. Barely made it through the video though because all I can think about is going to get some icb 🤤
Your edits and jokes are very underrated
If I ever come to Arizona I have to stop by for a demo of these products at the shop.
Very impressive.
I also noticed you look much more fit like you've started working out or changed your diet or something. Whatever it is, keep it up. Looking forward to many years of projects from this channel. 👍
i have a Yamaha surround receiver and 2 old school cerwin vega d-9's and even across youtube i can hear the bass...and i keep my settings flat...you do amazing work :)
seems like it would be a good accompanyment to DIY perks 3d printed/plaster filled stereo speakers.
I am referring to the enclosures that you have put together. They are outstanding!
Bolts coming loose seems like a massive oversight of not using any kind of threadlocker. Torque really is not enough, just look at wheel lugs for example, they're always raw metal on metal but you're heavily advised to retorque after a few decent drives; though, most shops also over-torque the hell out of them and people never retorque them. Threadlocker on the other hand provides a solution for vibrational loosening, of which various frequencies will have various efficacy of loosening based on several factors, such as coupling, resonance, etc. But I find this oversight odd, the companies have been at desktop CNC routers for over a decade, and even in the DIY world it's been known that threadlocker is a must, so why does this highly preventable problem exist on such a product of quality and company history?
I'd also be curious what the rest of the 2200 series can do in a well-tuned box, especially the 6 inch or a pair of them.
These videos are so snappy , even if youre not into the subject they shine
Awesome video, love the build!
For fun, to piggy back onto this build in a future video, you could integrate a pair of midbass boxes, like a pair of 8" efficient drivers in sealed and stuffed boxes, especially with DSP for EQ, time, and phase alignment. As you know, it would really light up the upper bass area, 50- 120hz or so, where kick drums and floor toms really shine! We all love that visceral kick : )
To make it more awesome yet, add folded horns to the front of the 8" dual midbass boxes for better matching acoustic impedance, and way more output, making them efficient enough for another compact class D amp to be plenty of power.
Could be another fun project on the router!! : )
I'm drawing up a front loaded horn design for a pair of 12" subs in the cargo area of our family suburban, I just need to find the time to build it.
I'm really impressed with the killer deep bass you're getting with that awesome build! Thanks for sharing.
that base down @20:44 overpowered my headphones, while the base got to low to even hear (but I could feel them)... did not even know my headphones were capable of going this low so loud.
i would really love to see a speaker as f'n fast and punchy as possible (for my music style it is hard to get anything good - RIP my old DLS DualPunch Custom build from way back when)
It's been a bit since I've seen videos from this channel but this showed up and that intro was hella dope. skillz
Thats exotic looking .
so happy to see you get a cnc.... I have a few and can cut pretty much anything I want... always wanted to see what you can accomplish with a bigger tool
"Why hasn't Pete released a video in a long time"
I now see why!
I was wondering about that too.
An 8 inch sub playing that flat that low is nothing short of incredible. I was going to say the SPL output isn't that impressive until one considers useable bandwidth. Then i went back and realized it was an 8inch. I'm amazed. And at the same time ashamed because all I can do is throw together an 18 inch bassreflex that doesn't doesn't play as good or low as this does. Sure, i might have more output but my box is 3 times the size and i'm sending 5-6 times the effective voltage to it.
I i tried playing 20Hz like pete just casually did, my cone would probably become the next Chinese weatherbaloon.
As always, perfect video pete, thank you!
Diyperks just did an interesting vid where he used a 3d print as a form and then filled it to make it more rigid. Seems like a really interesting cost effective solution to make enclosures
7th order sounds veryyyy subby. Listening on my KH750 sub here. Crazy how much loudness you can get out of it! Although, the -phase shift- time response sounds a bit extreme. Nice for car, but I prefer a tighter sound for monitoring and/or listening. Great build!
You heard a phase shift? Im on air pods so i didn't notice although i probably wouldn't have even with studio monitors. Can you say where in the video you noticed the shift?
@@NiliMoto Actually, I think I should've said "time shift", doh! I always confuse the two.
The bass cabinet takes a few cycles to build up to full loudness, so the attack and punch of the bass is slowed a lot. Sounds like it's swelling rather than hitting.
Sounds awesome! One of the few times that I can recall when UA-cam has provided the full extent of the frequency range recorded. Would love to know the names of the soundtracks you used.
Great build, i have a CNC, but what i would really like to see is something as good, but in the smallest package available, like to go under a seat!
Now that would be a challenge!
Nice! I really need to finish building my CNC as I've always wanted to build one of these layer cake wave guide subs. Always enjoy the effort you put into demo'ing / recording your builds!
I know your builds are very specific to all of the variables. However, this is an absolute dream build for me!
The sound is amazing, can't imagine how really sounds in person.
Wow! I am listening with my Lenovo Earbuds and I can definitely feel the base by ears.. Just wow!
I talk about your videos about once a month if not more. The way you're able to make such a powerful sound with relatively little power is baffling to me :)
Baffling. Lol
That was a bad pun
@@notsure7404 ;)
Y’all are the perfect match. It was super heart warming to see y’all work together. As for the cnc machine I freaking want one now. And then enclosure bangs! Well done on the video. I think you need a larger as a psa.
Would love to see a DIY guide on how to build a simple single or dual speaker setup for a PC setup.
Nice intro and awesome project! And great job on the weight loss! 😉👍🏽
Very nice indeed
Dude this is an awesome video! Between the comedic breaks with the spy ballon, Peter Griffin and any other show or movie scene you put on. To the performance and overview of the machine, and finally the featured build and test. It’s all so well done! Absolutely amazing! I subscribed 2 months ago and love all the content! Cheers!
18:27 by far my favorite test track!
Just like Iron Man said: I want one!!
What are the dimensions of the box?
What were the song names used in this? Are they from Tracker software?
I dont have maker space, where can i get one of these already built sub and enclosure? How much will it cost?
Those subs are quite impressive. I installed a single AD2210D2 with a MK600.1 in a high output 4th order bass reflex enclosure tuned to 37hz. Really clean sub, and i could imagine the 8” capability. Test an 8th order bass reflex would be my next test.
I bought a used Shapeoko 3 a couple months ago for like $200. I really need to get it up and going.
I really appreciate the good mic. I plugged in my good headphones to listen to this and man the lows get low. I was impressed before with the 3d printed box and Dayton Audio driver but this is next level.
I would love to have a speaker enclosure like that built. Phenomenal work
I am SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED! I would LOVE to have that sub-box!! (and the router table too!!!) ... (oh yea.. and a car too LOL) - I do have a JL W3 that needs to have the surround replaced, and traditional carpeted bandpass box but after seeing this video and how you were able to get 35hz all the up to over 120db with only 200watts (!!!!) started to think is it would be possible to create an 'insert' that I could install into the bandpass box (im not sure about which order it is... it's just got the sealed front have of the sub and a rectangle opening with 1 board making it a port of sorts) ... I don't have any 'god-level' tools like a router-table or 3D printers but I do have all the right tools to do it all the 'traditional way' BUT I think it would be much more interesting to modify the box I already have than to start from scratch.....BUT I would have to take apart the box to put the 'guts' inside and I think the MDF was already starting to crumble when I pulled the sub to inspect it (a friend gave it all to me like 5 years ago and aside from that initial check I haven't touched it since) - I'm just wondering if it's even worth all the hassle... it's a lot of effort to put into a box that I not only don't have an AMP to power it but I don't even have a vehicle to put it in LOL - I guess I'm just daydreaming because of all the inspiration I get every time I watch your new videos LOL :)
I wish I could just rent that machine and CNC that box.
I want that box. G daaannnnmmmm!!!
While the new vacuum is super quiet, I highly recommend adding a dust separator in-line with it. It catches all of the big particles and stops your vacuum filter from getting packed up and clogged with sawdust so often. Loved the vid!
Hell yeah 20hz is an incredible feeling.
Anytime I see an ATHF reference I smile, well done.
BTW, when are you getting your stuff on Spotify???
Can you create perfect portable outdoor speaker design with super bass? Better than JBL and stereo! 3d printable
Perfect? To many variables. How loud do you want it to play. Is there a size, min and max.? How low does it play?
@@codyscharkey-gd1sz better than jbl charge 5 in same size.
This. Is. Amazing. You make awesome content and i enjoy your videos!
That is insanity! Listening on Koss ur20 and when Sophie said her ears were tingling, I literally felt that 🔊😲🔊
Having both an additive and subtractive processes opens up a lot more possibilities. I have both a 3D printer and large CNC. You having that laser gives you even more dynamic possibilities.
My audio system bows to your mic quality
Awesome Build Vid!
As for those bolts that keep working loose: Red Loctite is your friend!
You are on a whole nother level brother.
Push that envelope man
Fantastic video, really great intro and content! Great job and thank you. Now how can I afford a cnc LoL
When you mentioned the oval holes, it reminded me of my Carve Wright. If you told it to cut a hole, it would be an oval, but if you told it to drill a hole 3" in diameter, it would be perfect. Kind of important when cutting out arcade control panels. Of course, this is around 15 years ago.
Back to the trunk videos!!!! Hell yeah!
the quality of the videos is top notch!
Dude Pete you absolutely crushed it on this build and love the new 3d printer!!! That's epic!!!!!
I have a box designed by this dude, its a cool history, i was an car audiophile, and some dude buy a design to these man, and he build it, and them, he buy another desing for SPL box, and he gives me the first box, a TLine for a 6", i use it with a JL audio
A quicker way to deal with tabs, depending on your tab thickness, is to lift the sheet off the bed and push the part down from the drop. This breaks the tabs in a way that prevents any kind of tear in the piece. Then use a trim router with a flush trim/bearing bit to cut the remainder of the tab flush to the piece.
OK, so after that in car demo at the end, a thought came to me - this is what I refer to as "liquidy bass". You said it was slow, or not tight, and OK, I get that. I have heard many different types of subs over the years, and I've owned a few sealed types that were excellent at the "tight, controlled bass", but I honestly prefer the effortless sounding liquid type of bass that this seems to produce.
So here's my question - I have a home theater setup in the basement. I'm considering building a Full Marty to get that LFE into that "effortless" feeling, but I'm not sure that'll scratch the itch the same way that something like this will. What would you suggest looking into for a 12 ish cubic foot (or smaller, but size matters with the bass and subsonic levels LFE is for) sub? I know the Full Marty is excellent for this, but I'm so in love with the particular sound signature of this sub that I want to ask your thoughts. I mean, I can even go bigger with the sub, but I know that there comes a point where size isn't as important as design, and I'm wondering where that is and how to get solid "liquidy" sub bass and LFE.
Either way, excellent video and content in general - keep it up and thank you for putting it out here for us!!
Ay DIY perks shouted you out in his latest video hope you get some extra traffic!
Thank yoi for making my day with that intro.
Always love your designs and what they can do with low power. Wish I could get hands on 2 of those!!
i love your ability to design things
I am blown away with your design, is it possible to get the specs so I can build here in Jamaica 😊
@ 5:02 😮 THAT'S NICE!!!!
