    Outside defense against punches. Eric, please. Sorry. All outside defense against punches- sorry, these outside defense against punches are executed from low base extend. That means your hands are not here. They are down below. Here's a punch.
    Slow. Outside the line of fire I'm going to come by doing this. I'm just going to shift my body a little bit towards his live side. Since my hands are down below, the easiest way for the punch is just to bring the hand straight up. Again. Past my face. It's important to know the form of the lower part of my forearm and not the higher part of my forearm. If I do, I'm much weaker. The lower part carries a lot more strength.
    Because I'm moving to the live side of my opponent, it is crucial that I'm going to strike him at the same time. It's not a block and a strike. I need to strike him immediately. To do so, I don't even rotate my shoulder because that rotation will consume time. I'm in the live side. I'll grab him, bring him into a knee to the groin and make separation.
    One more time the motion. Thank you. Face forward. Take your basic stance. Bring it to a low basic stance. With the foot we're going one back. One back. With the hand, one. I need 90 degree and 90 degree. Back. One head low. Back. One and two. With the punch. One, back. One, back. And one and right away the hand comes to your face. Grab him, knee, we make separation. Again. One, two. Again. One, two. All in one. And one. Again, one. Please, Eric punch David. Right through, please, not fast. Again. Try to pay attention to 90. Again. Change places, please. Punch him, David. Again. Again. Thank you very much.

    Great training and excellent instruction. People don't realize that we don't walk around with our hands in the air or in a fighting stance all the time. You have to be ready to block and strike from anywhere.

    This technique isn't effective if someone is fast executing his punch, especially both punch and knee.

    i disagree with making separation at that particular point, it gives your attacker time and space to grab his weapon. At this point, I would take him to the ground and disable him completely.

      The principles of krav maga say as many combatives as necessary to stop the threat but must be an appropriate response to the threat. I agree i wouldn't stop with one but if one is enough and they are on the floor then that's that

    KM is a good self defense system, even if you walk down a street and someone wants to attack you. I can explain why. The exercises (slow motions first with increasing the speed) help develop the muscles memory and all the movements are done on the reflexes level. It’s like your eye that always closes when something is approaching it. But you need to exercise a lot to get to this point.

      Sorry to burst your bubble, but almost every hand-to-hand combat style rely on muscle practice, muscle memory and smarts. And Krav Maga could be as useless as any other style when you're overconfident.

    Some of the people commenting here need to get your heads out of your asses. These are simple, beginner level Krav Maga training videos. I've spent years training in various fighting styles that literally require years of training to be effective. Krav Maga is a style that cuts out all the BS and allows almost anyone to learn a defense fast. Any styles effectiveness depends on the practitioner not the style. Most people can't and won't dedicate years to self defense or combat training, that doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't learn at all. By the way, good, clean, easy to understand videos. ;-)

      That may be so but keep in mind that this is just a template. It doesn't mean that you have to end the counter that way. You have to understand concepts. For example, if the attacher has medium to long hair, maybe it's better to grab his hair instead of his shoulder with the right hand. Grab his hair and yank him forward, toward you, as you knee. Maybe you don't knee him once but twice. Maybe before you scoot back, as the opponent is leaning forward, trying to catch his breath from the knee strikes, you execute a vicious hook with your left fist and THEN you move back. All of these are possibilities, it's up to the defender to use his brain and realize that the template can be modified in accordance with what is necessary and what is possible, given the circumstances.

I'd have no idea about any other organizations) always looks to other martial arts as part of it's pursuit in finding the most effective techniques to use. If Wing Chun has the most effective defense against circular attacks, we'll use it :D

    Wing Chun is one of the grandfathers of most martial arts, and Krav Maga was developed as a hybrid of some of the most practical fighting styles to produce a simple, yet brutally effective discipline.
    It's no surprise that the style shows Wing Chun influences. Just goes to show what can come out of preserving such knowledge. :)

    This is a litle bit incorret you should strike the defense with your arm with all your weight foward that way the guy will have an open defense and you can grapple him or puch him , if you run form it he can attack you easly and if he is a bid dude you'l fall of balance the best attack is the counter attack and in a street fight never have your hands down , and defend the wirst no the arm if he has a sharp object he can still stab you with it , and don't always attack the groin the fight will not end there punch the throat and the fight will end there you cannot fight back if you'r vomiting and if you're out of breath ( i'm not native english btw and im a krav maga practitioner)

    Why the hell would you lower your hands,it doesn't make sense.
    Hands high take less time to block/deflect an outside punch.
    Lowering your hands is getting a broken jaw,dumb,really dumb.

    • @PDM1967
      @PDM1967 10 років тому +2

      You are not "lowering your hands". The point is that this block is used from a position where you are not necessarily expecting the punch or preparing to fight. Once your hands are up and your facing someone it's quite clear that "its on" and there are other blocks and techniques to deal with straight punches, haymakers, hooks, etc in that situation. Krav Maga -- particularly old school type krav taught by Rhon Mizrahi in the KM Federation -- has numerous techniques, each applicable to a certain situation -- essentially "tools in your toolbox". As a beginner you won't be much good in a fight. KM, when taught properly looks simple but isn't. But, after progressing and mastering a number of techniques, things start to fall into place and make sense and one can apply the proper strike or defensive technique in the appropriate situation and continue fluidly from there. That is Krav Maga.

    • @henkiskwaad
      @henkiskwaad 10 років тому

      I agree, it is distracting to teach it this way. People are going to deliberately lower their hands and get punched in the face. The point of the attack is the simultaneous block and strike, but it's not explained by principle 'if the way is open, go forward', which Krav Maga apparently integrated using technique taught by wing chun sifu Sergio Iadarola.

    this won't work if the attacker knows how to punch. seriously, who punches like that? where is his left arm during the punch? everyone who has a single clue of fighting would use the arm to block.
    maybe call me conservative, but isn't it quite cowardly to kick someone in the croins?

    Why you separate to your opponent if you can finished him on that exact time🤣🤣

      First of all this is a template. You can follow up the technique with any number of strikes. Second, this technique is geared toward civilian application. Would you like to get a manslaughter charge for crushing someone face into the pavement?

    Why make separation? if you haven't injured him enough the fight will begin again, why not finish him off?
    I like the technique shown in this clip but I thought Krav Maga practitioners don't back off till their opponent is subdued?
    Of course if the person is much bigger or has a weapon, fair enough get the hell out of there after your counter attack lol.

      That depends on the laws where you are at. If he has weapons on him, disabling him to avert that threat is probably justified, but some jurisdictions view anything after the immediate response as agression rather than self defense. If you doubt that he'll let you go, follow up, having to discuss it out in court is likely better than being hurt.
