CJU, just wanted to say I love your videos. I like the fact that you don't yell, scream or act childish, which is so common amongst todays gamer youtubers. I also appreciate that your video thumbnails don't have obnoxious pictures of you making ridiculous faces. Stay classy and keep up the excellent work mate!
I love your playthroughs! Thank you for showing and reading all of the notes and books. I far prefer that to youtubers who skip everything or think it's boring.
Anything Lovecraftian has my attention and CJU playing something Lovecraftian definitely has my attention! Looking forward to continue watching this series!
CjuGames - Let's Plays & Walkthroughs I agree! If they were making you play that bloody game for 30 days they could have at least left us with a good ending. Oh well, it was still entertaining to watch you play it though!
I've always thought this was one of the better Lovecraftian games I've played. Too many games brand themselves Lovecraftian while focusing on jump scares and cheap horror tactics. Conarium had the slow buildup, the dizzying sense of reality being more than meets the eye, and the shocking realization that we're not alone which I feel are crucial for most penultimate Lovecraft stories.
CJU I love H.P. Lovecraft. Beyond the Wall of sleep is another of his books. You have an excellent reading voice. Enjoying so far and totally enjoy your comments as well. Stiff one... good one hahahahaha. I love most of the games you do playthroughs on. Brilliant. Keep on. Thanks for all. Will definitely continue to be a loyal subscriber. Cheers
Just found your channel and I already think you're my new go to guy for letsplays on games im to scared to play. I do prefer your more chill take on it, and im happy you actually read the notes.
As I am obviously super late on seeing this video, I doubt you will see this comment. Nonetheless; I love your videos and your voice is absolutely one of the best I have heard on UA-cam. Manlybadasshero and you are my favourite to sit and listen to, especially if I am having trouble falling asleep. Very soothing voices, and great story telling tones. You should look into doing audiobooks, which wouldn't surprise me if you haven't already. Anywho, thanks for all the content you have put out , and I can't wait to catch up to all of them.
Funny, I was re-watching your Darkness Within playthroughs, while working on my game projects, and in fact my game prototype takes place in an Artic base that has lost power.
Ahh, what could be better. Two Cju's films in the row, Lovecraft, this Penumbrastic arctic realm. Keep that going, of course! And I didn't planned it, but you've found Nikolai Gogol's "The Portrait". I recommend you, or other people here, to read it in free time thus it's even translated to English and other languages. I remember you're also a fan of old Edgar Allan Poe and that's the climate you can expect there. It was written in 1830's I believe and tells the story of a young artist Andrey who found a curious portrait. The story is both demonic and suspential.
I'm smiling, BASSOSOVIETICO1987, because, imo, "The Portrait" is such a great parable on the wages of greed, and a comment on Gogol's fear that his own art was demonically inspired and might be turned to evil ends. So deliciously Russian (or should I say Ukrainian? ).
As far as what I've seen here is concerned, this appears to take moreso from "From Beyond" than it does from at the mountains of madness beyond the location, from what I'm seeing. But that's fine, mashing up those two stories is a great idea. People seem to forget that the Cthulhu-related setting as Lovecraft wrote it was a science fiction setting, not explicitly fantasy, and all too often are the stories that show things as they actually are in Lovecraft's setting are ignored in favor of the more fantastic "Cthulhu Mythos" material built off of by writers other than himself. From Beyond and At the Mountains of Madness are some of the more explicit in their depiction of the setting as sci-fi, so mashing them up is a pretty good way to bring this aspect of Lovecraft's work to the forefront. There was another game released a year or so ago, a VR game of some sort (I think it wqas called the Edge of Nowhere), that essentially had the player walking through an ancient city that housed Not!Cthulhu, that also did this, treating the monsters and the great monster at the end as an alien being, not a magical god. I'm actually pretty happy to see these sorts of Lovecraftian stories popping up more in media these days, people need more weird sci-fi.
CjuGames - Let's Plays & Walkthroughs Every night I dream of the hot pot, and every dawn I cry, longing for what could have been, but never was and never will be. Truly a Sisyphean tragedy, really.
I think it's hiding in Deadly Premonition, a little old lady there is obsessed in keeping it warm... For this game, that oscilloscope puzzle seems to show it's own solution, review this video and you might see the solution as a faded red signal that's easily hidden by the bright white signal you control, match the red with the white using the controls that affect the frequency and amplitude ( the phase appears to be unchangeable, which is fine).
i believe the jellyfish creatures are from the short story, From Beyond. It's been awhile since, i've read the story but they for sure, use them in the movie.
I know that maybe it can be aggravating if done awful, but should be at least some time !I'm it out in that bitter cold, howling winds, and driving snow outside, its both more realistic, as well as adding good tension if done right, and make the time before you're in danger be reasonable, and tested by devs to make it that perfect amount of time so it isn't miserable trying to find areas, and dying a bunch of times, but rather just enough that its more exciting when find/get to another safe, warm building/section/lab etc., and/or when are running from threat if there is a threat that chases outside, making that a ton more thrilling, getting away from both enemies, and the elements, but we'll/I'll see how this turns/turned out
So glad I found your video, (and expertly done may I add) just got this game on steam, played most of what you showed. My problem is the narrowed perspective view point, does this improve at all, can't see why we have to look through a torch, although it's probably to create atmosphere. Tfs.
Just reviewed the game on Steam, and saw ur review, knowing that you must've uploaded some walkthrus already here. Great job Cju, you seriously deserve a lot more subs. Just my personal opinion, you might want to keep the facecam a bit longer during the walkthru. Anyway, good job. Praise the Unknown!
Yeah, we like to see the face. It's an okay balance as is though imo, because some people's face cams can be too obtrusive and cover up HUD etc. I do look forward to the highlights at the end! Those are always fun.
I have to agree with Kevin Welch...I have watched a lot of videos/youtubers over the years and I have to say u are my favorite...u have amazing videos and i love your comments through out the game xoxoxoxoxo
Great job, man, I can't wait for the next parts! Your LPs are really enjoyable. P.S., please note, however, that every time you don't read a page, a panda cries a tear of sadness :P P.S.II, I am a panda :(
23:00 okay, this is a bit of a revelation, I didn't expect this. the thing you saw on the notice board was an Elder thing, but seeing the length of this series as it is I figure you already know that by now.
so im looking for the horror game where you play a female lady and break into a oldmans mansion and he chases you does anyone know what its called ? i think you played the demo CJUGames
Upuaut seems to be... the name of an ancient Egyptian wolf god? and also the code name of a project for exploring one of the Great Pyramids. In trying to find a proper pronunciation for it, i found that the other common transliteration of the name is "Wepwawet." So, both of those are the same name. Then I found a really in-depth reddit comment about it. redditor 'Osarnachthis' claims that you definitely don't say an actual t on the end of the word (i was incorrectly pronouncing it as you might try to pronounce an Inuit word, so I was saying it Oo-poo-ay-oot) and instead it's more like "wop-WAY-weh" or "wop-hWAY-wee." language is insane. happy have a comment on a five year old video about something unimportant day. I can't stop doing this.
why did you read Jo-han. as Yo-han!? We are frank gilman. this is another game where i wish we would have other normal human NPCS around....at least...at the start for a while....before things go downhill...its tiring seeing 1 person somehow alone in these situations...

I also appreciate that your video thumbnails don't have obnoxious pictures of you making ridiculous faces. Stay classy and keep up the excellent work mate!
I agree 100%. Had to give a thumbs up for reading so well too.
I always love the longer videos. Their a great end to my day. Great video as always CJU
The minute I saw the locker filled with beautifully polished wooden statuettes of Ed Sullivan, I knew we were in for one hell of a ride.
I really appreciate that you read everything or mostly everything in the games you play. Thank you. 🙂
i'm here because it's free in the epic store.
Mr lancer boy same, when playing i got some strong ass amnesia vibes
I've been stuck on your channel all day long! I just binge watched all of Pineview drive. Now I can't seem to leave your channel, lol!
Ah Pineview Drive. Still disappointed by that ending.
CjuGames - Let's Plays & Walkthroughs I agree! If they were making you play that bloody game for 30 days they could have at least left us with a good ending. Oh well, it was still entertaining to watch you play it though!

Great vid man! This game is right up my alley, I am most certainly going to have to check this one out!

Hmm, I don't think I've read that one.
+Cju Yeah they even made a movie. I have the whole book collections of H.P. Lovecraft. Its one of his short stories. Cheers
I agree I would love to listen to him read...love his voice
Just found your channel and I already think you're my new go to guy for letsplays on games im to scared to play. I do prefer your more chill take on it, and im happy you actually read the notes.
Sich a secret gem ❤️ didn't watch this one yet. I'm so glad I joined you months ago
I love Lovecraftian games 😊💜❤️

@IveyCosta 😆
"a fine point to end the video on"....love it!
Funny, I was re-watching your Darkness Within playthroughs, while working on my game projects, and in fact my game prototype takes place in an Artic base that has lost power.
I love how I can just get Doritos on one side, Coke on the other and lay back and watch your videos all day long.
2:36 Cju: “What happened to his eyes?”
Me: “Where he’s been, you don’t need eyes to see.”
Ahh, what could be better. Two Cju's films in the row, Lovecraft, this Penumbrastic arctic realm. Keep that going, of course!

Maybe both, even Gogol wasn't sure about that :)
The game is clearly inspired by "From Beyond". After finding out that the pineal gland is also called the Conarium, that sealed the deal.

I respect that you were able to knock aside that barricade. Some games make them impenetrable except from the other side and that's just terrible.
Awesome gameplay, keep it up!
Love to see how this channel grows
I read the game title as "Coronation" and I was immediately struck with immense PTSD from a certain April's day some years ago.
...I never did figure out the mystery of that missing hot pot.
CjuGames - Let's Plays & Walkthroughs Every night I dream of the hot pot, and every dawn I cry, longing for what could have been, but never was and never will be. Truly a Sisyphean tragedy, really.

Yeah, you're right. You'll see what happens when it's all lined up very soon.
This game is so beautiful.
i believe the jellyfish creatures are from the short story, From Beyond. It's been awhile since, i've read the story but they for sure, use them in the movie.
looks a good game, from the best walkthrougher on youtube

Great job, man, I can't wait for the next parts! Your LPs are really enjoyable.
P.S., please note, however, that every time you don't read a page, a panda cries a tear of sadness :P

true horro doesnt come from jumpscares, and this game proves it
When you haven't read the description of the game and you discover who you are on the game
You, love you some Lovecraftian horror. 😉💝
Casually throws in a "that's what she said" 😂
Couldn't help it.

That's an Elder thing at 18:44 and i'm sort of disappointed that you don't recognize it. :(
You know, I've just realized I' haven't seen any drawings or depictions of them. It does fit the description from the stories though.
Just starting this series. I'm excited to see if there is a shoggoth in this game, or maybe something even more terrifying and insane.
Call forward to Transient.
I love your voice.
so im looking for the horror game where you play a female lady and break into a oldmans mansion and he chases you does anyone know what its called ? i think you played the demo CJUGames

Anyone else who thinks the main character is badly acted? He sounds aggressive to me. Like he's trying to hard.
That's kinda stiff.. ehehe
you sound like you belong in this game Lol
